Anyone else try the SMY 35 mini yet?

Just curious as to the experience y'all have had.

So far out of 3 units purchased, 2 have been defective. The first easily replaced, waiting on an answer on number 2.

There are 2 screws that attach the board to the top. They fall out and shorted out the first board so when the second rattled, I pulled the top and reinstalled the board screw. Only to find that the tiny plastic pin that should stay in the switch didn't and now it doesn't fire at all unless I depress the switch with a pin.

Is it just me? Is SMY crap product? I thought they had a good rep. and the device seems well made at first.

Anyway, my 2 iStick 30w are still kicking good with zero issues unlike my gen 1 20w (btw, can you drill out and replace the 510 connector in a 20w somehow?) as is my eGrip but it just doesn't taste like the SubTank does.

Should I try another SMY? I wanted a replaceable battery unit without soldering like the iStick. Is there a better unit out there at least 30 watts around 50 bucks with decent features and that works regularly?

Is the Sigelei the only good choice? I don't object to it, but it's more square than I like but, if it works right, I can deal...I just liked the SMY shape and center mount 510, though their build quality is really bad so far, plus I had read a lot of good and it is a Gen. SMY verified by the code. Is this an anomaly with SMY?

anywhere to buy or acquire just that little plastic button post? Also, where can I find a replacement 510 to fix my iStick 20? Now I have no spare and I just don't like the flavor on my eGrip, great vapor, weird flavor, is that a common issue with them?

Been vaping for a couple years now, even mix my own juice, but just upgraded from Twists and ProTanks in the last few months what a difference though the twists got me off the stinkies so.

IMO, Sigelei or IPV make good devices. You hear very little in the way of complaints.

If you want to know about repairs, you will get the most responses from people who know by starting a new thread in the mod's section.

Get an IPV mini, if all you need is 30 watts it'll do you good. Solid device!

Well, Vapor Tek USA rocks. Very good people to deal with.

They are just sending me a new unit, no return required this time due to the repeat problem. Even better, it gives me spare parts when the next one dies, heh, anyway, very happy with the resolution if not so happy with the mod.

It seems to have potential but the basic build screw ups like leaving loose internal screws and switches that fall apart is kinda unacceptable from a company like SMY. I sure wouldn't recommend anyone else get the 35 Mini until they work out the assembly issues.

Thanks again http://www.vaportekusa.com/

hehehehe got my replacement, DOA.

But, this one didn't fall apart when disassembled so with a couple minor tweaks to the battery contacts and tighten the board screws, she's charging away as I type. I think this one will work. Funny part is I picked up the same mod for a buddy and his has been perfect so far. Anyway, Vapor Tek USA rocks, and the SMY 35 mini is a royal POS. Soon I'll be temp control anyway and this one will be donated or relegated to second backup. Just thought I'd follow up.

I will never buy anything from SMY.. too many issues and not a very good track record.. just like Cloupor - there are too many other good brands to consider before needing to settle for less..

Sigelei / P4U / Smok are the 3 you should consider

I just got the smok xpro65 for 50$ and its a sweet little device for the price point

I'm deciding between the Smok xpro 80 and the Hcigar DNA40 unit now. Do you know what chip the Smok is using for their temp control? It's 50 bucks cheaper than the Hcigar unit which I like being a cheap SOB.

Trust me, this was my first and last SMY box.

I have a Smok 65, not temp controlled. And a Hcigar HB 40. I use both every day. (And a clouper 30, an eleaf 30, plus a smok BT50 and a Hanna sitting on the shelf)
In terms of build quality, the HB is much better. But it is really large, not heavy, just a little too chunky to be a comfy hand full.
The smok is a much nicer fit in my hand, but the fire button is flakey, the parts don't fit together flush, the charge port (which is on the bottom, not the side) is not a great fix with the case.
None of these are perfect. But for just build quality and comfort, the eleaf is my preference. For build quality and performance, the HB is my preference. But it, (along with the Hanna and BT50) is not what I consider good ergonomics. Since that is where the mod meets the user, it all depends on the user so your results may vary. The smok 65 fine for performance and it fits my hand, but the flakey fire button and the rough edges are a bit more than minor annoyances. The clouper build quality and materials are not the best, but it's performance is great.
I have read reports where the clouper and eleaf have problems that seem to be manufacturing QC issues with these units. I don't think there are enough HB40 units in circulation to say much.
If it weren't for the size, the HB would be my favorite for the temp limiting feature, battery performance, overall performance (which is more chip than box) and esthetics. If they just put some radius on the edges, I would be satisfied with the size.
Although I am looking at other TC mods right now, the smok is not one I'm favoring. It's coming down to the SX350M, vapor flask and vapor shark rDNA. With the build problems the smok x has had, I'm leary. And I think it's just too big, clunky and heavy for my taste. But the price is right, although that might be its one strong point. Hopefully, the TC feature will work when you get it.
