I want to go to Mars and I want a mech mod

let's start with the easy part,...a mech mod. I've been building sub ohm dual coil RDA setups with my trusty ohm meter and SteamEngine.org as my guide. I meticulously rotate two married sets of VTC-4s for my Sig 150, and I now feel ready to experience and maintain a mech mod. I'd prefer an 18650 build and with so many choices I am hearing horror stories of really crappy clones. Anyone got suggestions on what to buy under $100 ?

SS, copper, brass, aluminum, mixed, damascus, other (as in wood sleeve)... tube(s)?
Other tubes, or dedicated 18650 only?
Polished, matte or brushed?
Bottom switch or side?
Lock ring - left hand thread?
Recessed button and/or no lock?
Screw telescopic 510, or screw/floater?
How low a net resistance (for the purposes of VD)?
Spring or magnets?
Covered with logos and shit... or relatively sterile?
Brass, copper or silver plated contacts?
22mm on the nose, or a bit of fudge factor on diameter?
Fudge factor on price... as in $110 or so being OK?

Sort those variables out... and your search gets quite a bit smaller.

I just suffered an aneurysm!:mad:o_O

Eh? Sumthin in the 22mm range and dedicated 18650. Overall,...a unit good for a beginner.

I bought this SS Nemesis from FT and it's been pretty good for me. The switch was a bit crunchy when I got it so I took it apart and lightly sanded the parts with 600 emery cloth. I also replaced the spring with magnets. It's pretty smooth now and as long as I clean it monthly works very well.

+1 on a SS Nemesis clone. Bought one off FT long ago. It was one of my very first mech mods and is still one of my favorites due to it's looks and performance. They just work very well and hits like a freight train....beyond that, I really like the copper Manhattan clone, as well as any of the Stingray X clones...they perform very well IMHO...

I decided to go with a all copper clone of the Panzer. It's called the Red Phoenix and was endorsed by Twisted420 on Youtube. After his review I searched the web and found some strongly positive user feedback. I found it on sale for $54.95 at this site:

I think it will be a good start for me. I want to thank everyone for thier input. I will give updates once I run it through it's paces.

Looks like it will hit as hard as nails. Mind how you thread ! :) Copper threads don't like being bullied.

is there an option for hybrid cap? that top cap looks huge. that is a big turn off for me. that and the $100 price tag.
The top cap is the same size as any other top cap with an adjustable pin.

As for the price tag, can't help ya there. I'm not an authentic snob, but you won't find a clone that performs like this.
