everything installed and charging with usb.

components used:
1x IRLB3034 (mosfet)
1x 15k resistor
2x battery pins
1x momentary switch
1x tp4056 5v 1a lithium batt charger
1x 510 spring loaded 22m connector

let me know what you think. i'm currently working on a belt holster for this mod and will upload those photos later.

thanks

Very nice!!! If it was a dual 18650 without the charger i'd buy one up in a heartbeat!! Great work!

wouldn't that make the box much much more bulky?

ps. i have acutally been asked a few times for a dual 18650. might be something i'll do in the future

A little bulkier, but a lot more fun and functionality for subohm vapers. With that being said though, this single 18650 w/ charger would be great for someone who just want's a low maintenance mech mod, or for folks that drive a lot and want something they can just keep plugged in. The only problem i see with this is that you have the charger port on the bottom. That means you have to lean it on it's side while charging which is a big no-no (it'll be sitting in a puddle of juice in a matter of seconds) or you have to find a safe place to put your atomizer while you charge the box. Find a way to slide that usb charger behind the battery sled so the port is on the back and you have a winner. Even if you have to widen the box a few mm, the extra width is far less annoying than a bottom facing charge port :D

HOLY BALLS BATMAN! i was recently faced with that problem and i was going to make a standing dock for box mod. but that defeats the purpose of being mobile in a sense. I will look into those modification to my 3D design also credit you for it when i finish.

How much does it cost to print the mod? Are the materials expensive?

overall this boxmod cost about $20 to make, about $18 in parts and i would say less then $1 in plastic. but labor spend is lot if you want to count that into factor. just the 3d print time, it was about 2 hrs to print

Yep, you are in the right place.

But when you start selling the mods you will have to move:D

If you could make an affordable dual 18650 box, you'd be selling them twice as fast as you could make them. I LOVE the way mine performs, but the Hammond 1590B enclosure is so cumbersome i have to wear a belt AND suspenders if i wanna walk around with it in my pocket hahaha. Anything lighter/smaller would be a godsend. Even empty enclosures would sell extremely well since the internals are easy to come by. OR you could toss all the parts in a ziplock bag and sell a "build your own box" kit. Having the means to build an enclosure to your own size/specs gives you a world of options, and it's an area where there's not a whole hell of a lot of competition. If you could work up a box that sells for less than $100 you'd be a very busy person. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

I haven't thought about selling these to be honest, i just created it cause i was going to Italy for vacation and didn't want to carry the heavy mech mod with battery charger and extra batteries on my trip. Italy was a lot of walking around! But if there is a market if it i can do what you are suggesting and maybe make a few bucks off this. This is more of supply and demand. if there is enough demand for it. i might just supply it.. Again thanks for your wise and great input.. on a side note. i wouldn't have any problems getting these box mods out for under $100.. i can also do custom logo words and stuff too!

Looks good man, dual 18650 boxes are pretty hot sellers, if you plan to make more for sales.

One thing that you might want to consider soldering to the cap of the 510 will be a problem for some builds. Your are passing the power through that spring and they collapse on low ohm builds.

any thoughts on dual hybrid(i just made that up)? what i mean is to use a 18650 & 26650 and i can still retain this small case

i've seen that on thingiverse and found it to be too tall and much bulkier then my current design if i was to use dual battery. but i am currently looking at my design and like scarecrowjenkins says. if i remove the lipo charger and play around with the arrangement. i should be able to fit dual battery. the foot print might bet 10mm taller then now.. i'll let you know how it goes with my dual batt boxmod

That is AWESOME! Safe travels, and i'd be happy to take one off your hands if you decide!
this is only a concept. fixed the corner or anything yet. but now i'm bringing dual 18650 to the table
removing the battery charger, and switching the momentary switch to a tact switch should be able to prove this design to work

i raised the height by 10mm. making it now 90x45x25

updated 4/26:
moved charging port to side so it will stand when charging, no more leaking vaps.
created a cut on battery holster for easier access to screws for momentary switch.
