I B TANKED

Good to know. I had given up on the thought of an IB Tanked because of what I stated earlier. But it sounds like these may be the ticket for a large capacity on the go tank instead of rebuildables. And I am about ready to give up on KFL's so I need a replacement. No way I will go back to clearos.

Purely my opinion from my own experience below (don't shoot me):

You need to get an IBTank XL and get you 10 Smok XL dual laser punched 3.2 carto's for 1.30 each from IBTank...( vape these at about 3.5 volts for fruit or clear juices no matter what your PG/VG ratio is. Then order you a Taifun GT. wrapping a 1.2 to 1.3 ohm coil. Its not tricky like a Kayfun to keep from leaking and all that jazz. Very easy.

Both you can carry in your pocket with no leaking, If you had multiples of each you can pre fill and lay on their side in storage (as in a storage pouch) with no leaking and change out tanks on your mod when you want.

The taste is no comparison.. the Taifun will win out. It has a slightly better taste than a Kayfun. The Kayfun has a better taste than a Carto. The convenience is the same except the Taifun will hold more juice. You can refill both with close to the same speed (although I can refill a carto while im driving)

New cotton every 4 days or so on the Taifun if vaped around 3.5 to 3.6 volts on a 1.2 to 1.3 ohm coil. No meed to make a new coil for months.
New carto every 4 to 6 days (if your lucky) unless you get a bad one. I have had them go for a week and a half but that was rare for me. ( I am a constant vaper)

I have used hundreds of Ikenvape, Smok and Boge. I didnt care for boge. (but could have been during boge-gate)

I loved my Cartos for a long time and they are still a nice vape, but a Taifun GT is just too easy after the coil is wrapped.

@Thunderball I already have a Taifun. Got one before I bought a KFL. Flavor and vapor are great. But like the KFL it doesn't have much tolerance for the summertime heat. I took it to a NASCAR race and it leaked like crazy after an hour out in the sun.

Wow.. Not had that problem. I have found that you just have to have really thick fluffy cotton coming out through of those two holes so it wont leak through filling up that air hole inside to cause leaking. Thin to be loose in the coil, thick coming out. I spent a week Fishing and was at the Beach two weeks ago in Florida..... no problemo.

A carto my be the ticket for you if you cant get the Kayfun or Taifun to work. Let me know if you get serious. I have a few IBTanks with new sets of seals and the thingy for each of them I would sell.

As cheap as they are, I would just spend the 22 bucks for a complete XL IBTank and get 10 Cartos ( 10 cartos will get you to 1.30 each price) direct from IBTanked.

There is a learning curve to priming a carto properly.... Not a problem though. Seems like there is a learning curve for everything Vaping. ;)

If you get serious an a Carto and tank....don't get a lessor Carto Tank. The seals are hellacious on the IBTank. I've never had to replace any of mine. The seals and the thick glass is where its at..... ;)

I don't have much of a problem with the Taifun at home. It just didn't like the heat. Might be because I use thinner juices.

You possibly interested in a trade??? I'd be willing to trade one of my EHPro KFL's for one of your IB's. That way not really anything out of pocket to try it out.

Sorry, I really don't use the Kayfuns too much anymore, but when I do I only use the 3.1 ES models so I can use them on my Semovar with a hybrid adapter. (don't like the small air hole on the lite either) :(

Lol I have one that holds 10 Mls of juice. Its an original serial numbered Kayfun.

Damn! I knew it! One I wear with pride, the other......well let's face it, doesn't come off and just has to be worn!
I hear ya sir! I don't want to get older but it sure beats the alternative. Now vaping will surely extend the ride. Enjoy the day!

Now see, that's what I'm talking about! SIR! Sure it's a term of respect (appreciated!) and used to be generally used (especially in the south) without regard of age. However, nowadays it's a term that I have come to be more and more familiar with the advent of each wrinkle and grey hair (If I have any hair left that is!). LOL. Well, I guess plaid elastic waistband slacks, golf shirts, and house shoes are on the shopping list!

Don't forget Bermuda shorts with a white belt, calf high black socks with white leather brogues for the summer. I knew I had officially crossed over from being young when folks from the next generation after mine stopped calling me Dude and started calling me Sir. That's when my hair went grey and began to fall out. I sunburned the top of my head a few years ago, a rather depressing event. Now I wear a baseball cap when I work in the yard (sigh).

Yep! I've reserved to the fact that next year I'll probably be sitting on a park bench and feeding the pigeons or playing checkers in front of the drug store.

Both of you gentlemen are killing me. Better watch I don't pee myself laughing. I think everyone remembers that first scalp sunburn. OUCH! I'll admit this though, the older I get the less I give a shit about what others think or say about what I do. I look at it as one of the perks of maturity. Enjoy the day:cool:

That Depends! Not as "depends on whatever", but as in Depends diapers for us old folks. They help to keep the upholstery cleaning bill low when you just can't seem to not pee yourself laughing! Of course I still use the, "l just spilled my drink" excuse, but until the palsey sets in not many people tend to believe me! It's just down right embarrassing!

Well, at least the "Airplane" ref wasn't missed! However, I didn't expect the impact of the wrecking ball afterwards! Nice play guys!

@CaFF, that is a really purdy set up! It's really hard for me to get a grasp on the fact that within the last 5-6 years, we can call devices "retro", but I absolutely admire the retro style of the Buzz Pro and Pulse-G set up. Most devices try too hard to have a hybrid look and forego the elegant designs of past styles.

Carto tanks are still a backup option for me. Especially when the carto is new, you know it will work. Flavor was decent, airflow good. Can't crank the watts on them but do the job just fine. I'd take carto tanks over about 90% of clearomizers out today.

I've been using protank2 and 3mini and aerotanks but I heard about cartos the other day and really want to try them. I don't know where to start on buying them. I just heard they were great for flavor. Can I buy the carto and tank together or seperate? Do I use it one time and throw away? How many should I buy? I heard Boge was a good one? I saw the reference earlier so I'm guessing something went down with them. Any help would be great.

Most carto tanks come with one. Then you can either buy xp cartos and punch them yourself or buy some prepunched. They last between a week and two (more if you want to push it) then toss them away. They are under a buck a piece and about 1.50 or so drilled and ready to go.

Its great flavor. Good wicking and is prefer it hands down to many clearomizers out there

I just sold all of my ProTanks and Anyvape minis so I am gonna take my first step into IBTanked land for my on the go tanks. Gonna order with two cartos to get me started. But I will order more in bulk soon. What is the consensus of the most reliable and long lasting carto??? Smok, Ikenvape, or Boge.

Pepperoni, sausage or mushroom? Everyone is going to have their own favorite and everyone's reasons will be valid.
All three brands are a solid carto but all brands are going to have issues from time to time.
For almost a year and a half I used Smok LR cartos and then got into a bad batch- horrible chemical taste, lots of DOA so I tried some Ikenvape (platinum series, I think) and they were ok. Didn't blow my socks off, but just ok.
I'm currently using Boges and LOVE them. When I run into problems, I will probably switch back to Smok.
Buy a box, any box, try 'em and if YOU don't like then, try something else.
Part of the fun of vaping is finding your own perfect vape but when you do, you'll know it!
Then, two weeks later, you'll be on to something else. ;)

Ok with the fact that I am one of those that can't master the Kayfun build, and I really don't wanna go back to using clearos what are the best type of cartos to use??? I see some that have single punch, double punch, different size punch, slotted, unpunched that you punch yourself?? Realistically how long does a carto typically last?? Are higher or lower resistance better for cartos?? Are they as finicky as clearo coils where one may last a day and another a few weeks?? Can you get duds??? You say between a Nautilus and a dripper. So that would put it in Kayfun territory right???

Sorry Garemlin i was on vacation and not checking the forums like usual...

I used single punch for a longtime and moved to 2-hole ones a cpl years back. Now before i make suggestions i have to say that i primarily use a thin juice.. 75-80% PG..but i have no problems using a 60/40 or 50/50 in them..but your results may vary..not sure. I know sometimes if they start getting a bit dry a few stiff tugs will solve the problem.

I use smok xl length (45mm) double-punched and plated cartos. I generally use the 2ohm and occasionally the 1.5's. Usually crystal clear vaping is my place to buy.. It's something like $22 for 15 shipped. If i need some ibtanked goods and they have them in stock i grab them there as their prices are fair but add $6 priority and its not so good then.

I vape 5-7ml a day and if i had to average how long one carto lasts me i would say it's around 5-7 days.. Some longer and others less. I've had duds but would say that this problem is pretty much gone now. I haven't had a dud carto from smok in probably a year. The only exception to that would be that i had one punched upside down and occasionally get one that will constantly flood due the the filler not being tight up against the juiceholes..which can be fixed.

Yes you could say for quality of vape its damn close to a kayfun without the hassle.

Just placed my first order yesterday. A 22m XL with black ends, clear tank, a filler tool and 2 Smok 2.0Ω cartos. Gonna see how I like it. If it good I will be ordering another and some bulk cartos.

Both @GrimmGreen & Phill Busardo have really good tutorials on how to prime, fill, and hot swap cartos and carto tanks. The vids are a little antiquated, but nothing has changed with carto tanks in the last couple years! I hope they are the ticket you're looking for! IMHO, you can't go wrong with them, even if you decide that they're not for you! You'll still get a vape worth the money you spent, and probably even better.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but be careful of certain juices in plastic tanks. Some banana, some citrus and MOST cinnamon will either crack or etch plastic tanks. Even worse, chemicals from the plastic can leach into your juice. Not cool.
Some vendors will have a warning if there are issues with plastic tanks and a certain liquid, but not all.
When in doubt, shoot them an email and ask.
Quartz, glass (both kinda fragile) and borosilicate glass (fairly rugged) are safe with all liquids.
Just an FYI...

Yup. There are cheaper pyrex (borosilicate) tanks out there, but generally they are thinner glass and not as durable. I have about a dozen tanks from them and have put them thru hell without so much as an o-ring failure. Being glass, they can be broken, of course, so some care needs to be taken.
As long as I use some common sense and maintain the tasks properly, they'll last forever...
Well worth a few extra bucks for that kind of quality IMO

And for God's sake- DO NOT FORGET TO ORDER A TANK FILLING TOOL! They are absolutely essential.
And learn how to prime your carto.
And how to hot swap cartos.
Early on, I tried using a chepo tank, knew nothing about how to fill one and even less about priming. Needless to say, I was VERY disappointed and immediately started using ViVi Nova tanks and spent the next year fiddling around with contact posts, trimming wicks and trying to figure out which coil heads actually fit my tanks. Basically, I was stuck in vaping noob hell.
Finally, one of my contacts on another forum convinced me to watch some videos and then try carto tanks again because I hated the Novas but needed a reliable, fill-and-go solution. If I had just spent 30 minutes on YouTube, I could have saved myself a lot of grief and aggravation.

FWIW, that image is of the M1A1 carto tank I was alluding to, made by the company that makes the BP.

Here is my actual "rootbeer" Buzz Pro with the brass caps top and bottom and topped by the Pulse-G genesis tank clone. (with the brass "spacer ring" made by Wooky of Bear Brass Mods)

When talking about how some juices will haze, crack, leach, and melt plastic/acrylic tanks, Cinnamon tends to be the worst. Here is one of my first carto tanks prior to this information being available. As you can see, the top cap started to melt and left some gooey residue on the tank, the tank itself is completely hazed with full thickness cracking and thousands of small spider web like cracking throughout the juice contact area. The bottom cap is welded to the tank and is not removable. These juices not only affect the acrylic, but rubber o-rings also. In my drippers, I have to replace the O-rings fairly often when using cinnamin or other juices that tend to crack tanks. The o-rings will become sloppy, loose, and start to flake/deteriorate to the point that the top cap is impossible to replace on the device. Here are the pics of the hazed/melted carto tank described: (sorry about the quality of the pics, my camera on my phone sucks!)

Gotta admit I am really liking this IBTanked. Weird hearing the pop and sizzle though. Damn good flavor and vapor. Gonna see how long a carto actually lasts before committing to any more.

Smok 2.0Ω single coil. Though it is reading 1.8Ω on my Provari. I wanna order some in bulk but don't know if I should try some other brands first.
I never had trouble with the smoks. But, most tend to think the iknvpaes are the best. I don't think you could go wrong with any one of the three brands though.

I don;t even wanna try the Ikenvape since they seem like they are hard to get. I would hate to really like them and then need some and they are out of stock. They have too many different ones to choose from too. Platinum, Platinum Punch, Platinum SR, Nitro, Nitro with no filler.
