Parallel or not to parallel that is the question...

Parallel builds right now seem to be the fad, at least in my area... What are your thoughts for or against them.

Almost all of my builds are parrallel , but im not against a good ole single strand coil at all. I still build a single strand coil in my kayfuns.

I like parallels, but they can be a PITA to build. Mostly I like that I can get a lower resistance without buying crazier wire guages (I'm running dual parallel 22g). I have seen people say that parallels are somehow cheap, or a shortcut. I don't really agree with that though.

I do parallels as well but stopped when i switched to a regulated device. kinda hard to keep it above 1 ohm .

I'm going to have to try parallel coils. why not!

I've ran parellels a few times. They work well for me. Super easy to build on the Zenith. I like to do dual coils with each coil connected, so parallel and thread through center post and build another parallel. It's a bit harder to do, but I feel like it performs better than having 4 separate wires running through the center post.

Parallels give you the extra surface area with the addition of a lot of heat. Standards less surface area but also generally a cooler vape. It really depends on your preference and device.

Build one and go from there, just be safe. Use the right batteries and check your resistance. Use an ohm's law calc to match voltage and wattage to amp draw and all that safety jazz. To give you a rough idea of how quick it goes low, a 6 wrap 28 gauge dual parallel coil clocks in at .2 ohm.

Don't forget coil diameter. I can use the same gauge wire and achieve that same resistance in 4 wraps. In my case, I use a toothpick or screwdriver 2mm in diameter... unless you mean 4 wires per negative post when you said "dual parallel".

Ah yeah, of course coil diameter makes a huge difference. I was just using my current coil over a 5/64th bit as an example. Either way it ramps up way quicker than your standard coil.

I've tried parallel wire builds, but seem to always fall back to just simple contact coils.
I do like using twisted wire though. I make my own with a pair of vice-grips and a screwdriver. ;)

How is parallel in regards to battery drain? Any significant difference?

Compared to my single twisted 33 gauge contact coils, it seemed about the same. I wasn't sub-ohming though.

I've ran parallels, but I'm thinking of a dual parallel super nano coil setup, on some clouds, any opinions or anyone have luck with this?

I tried a parallel sleeper coil this evening with 28ga just to see how it goes. I did a 5/4 wrap. The first side looked great but the other side looked like crap. I got them cleaned up and gave it a whirl and the heat up time was kinda slow. I couldn't check the resistance because I built it on my Valkyrie. I will fiddle with it on my TOBH next and may step up to a 4/3 wrap and 26ga.

I really like parallel builds, but I've really been hooked on sleeper coil build. Seems like my sleepers burn more even than my parallel's.

when I do build parallels, this is my favorite. 28gauge macro, hitting at .23 ohm. Lots of flavor!

How come you're tossing that much cotton in there? It almost looks like juice is welling right at the lip since the cotton is kissed up right there

I run 22g gplat dual parallel 5wrap and it's by far the best cloud chasing build I use. The mod and atty get pretty hot, but as long as you know what you're doing then it's fine. Flavor's great and of course vapor is amazing.

Real reason for the big cotton is I height to drip when I'm on the move. So I put a little extra to hold a little more juice.

Love my parallels, it's just about all I've built for the past couple of months except this week, I got some 24g kanthal, and just built a quickie single strand dual coil until I feel like doing something else.

Absolutely what he said.

I started to like parallel hybrid coils. Use 28 gauge and flat wire. Its a nice vape not to hot but it covers a lot of surface area. Connectedvape on youtube shows how to build it. It comes out to .18 ohms

I totally pack with cotton a TOBH 26650 on a Seven. It's the only rda I take out round town. It's like having a tank of juice, but in a dripper. 10 wraps each side and cotton through and under. We are spoilt.

Rebuilt the Zenith clone yesterday. 28ga, 5/6 wraps, 5/64 ID. Wicked with Shiseido cotton pads. Didn't get a good pic of it firing but it clouds the house really well! Hopefully I can figure out how to post these coil pics...

I got hooked on the sleeper coils as well, but then I seen I could do parallel sleepers and so I tried it... Obviously the second side of the positive post is horrible to get lookin pretty, but it's worth the extra work. Ramp up time is quick, and you get a nice warm vape. It was perfect with my cinnamon roll flavor. Tasted like cinnamon rolls straight out of the oven! lol

I still do a fair amount of dual serials, but I do like parallels too. One ofmy favorite parallel builds right now is actually a build using 24 ga and 28 ga kanthal in a single coil (2mm - 2.5mm) vertical style in my Storm RDA. You build it just like any other parallel except you use the 2 different wire sizes. I generally like to stick close to .4 ohms and this coil gives me tons of surface area, the 28 ga heats up super quick while the 24 ga ramps up slower and keeps the heat around. I find I get tons of vapor as well as good flavor out of this build.
