Best 50w mod?

Any ideas on a solid 50 watt APV that will handle .3ohm to 3ohm? I've seen a modified SX350 version on cigtechs, but it uses an 18650 which would be killed quite rapidly at even 40 watts.

Any suggestions for mods under $250 that use a 26650 or 2 18650's in parallel?

For the price that new one from Pinoeer looks pretty nice.. like 80 bucks. Dont know how it will vape, but if the 7-22 / 7-30 is any comparison - its going to rock.

You could always buy an okr chip or an sx350 chip and build your own dual 18650 box mod..

Yea, I pulled the trigger on one in Silver. If its anything like my Seven 30 in quality, it will be one of the best deals out there....

IPV2 the DNA killer.. http://vaporjoe.blogspot.com/2014/07/more-power-50-watt-box-mods-for-7999.html

Kept my powder dry and waited and was rewarded.. Can be had for $80 on presale now.. I'll wait for reviews and get one when they are stocked unless Evolv has a trick up their sleeve and up's the ante.. The only thing that I see on this that I don't like so far is the charging port is on the bottom..

I live near cigtech shops and get to see some of their prototypes. They have a 50 watt box mod. It runs off an SX-??? Ship that can be modified when connected to a computer. It is very similar to a Hanna, but has a better button. It works on the SX gravity switch. http://www.cigtechs.com/The-Atlas-50W_p_553.html#.U8Fcxq8lCWI.mailto

Thanks, Vaporjoe bought one and it was non-functional, I'm waiting to see the outcome and his review on it.

Just received my iPV2 50. First and foremost...watch the top screw on the back plate. I had read that others stripped it so I was extra careful...still stripped it. Had to drill out the head of the screw, lift off the plate and grab what was left of the screw with a needle nose pliers to unscrew it. OK, first hurdle done. Slapped in a fresh Sony and a spare screw that came with the mod..back in business. I must say, I like the texture, the look and the operation of the mod. Feels cheep and light weight. This is where the aluminum box mods win. I prefer a mod that feels substantial...not beastly heavy but I want to know it's there and that it has something to it.
First test run was with triple 28 ga twisted sleeper coil, 6 wraps each. Registers .35 ohms of the ohmeter and .3 on the iPV2. Started at 15 watts and worked my way up to 50. Vapor production at lower watts was still good and the flavor was excellent. As the watts increased, the vapor production followed suit and the flavor began to fall off. Went from a cool vape to one that was so hot I could only do a 3-4 second pull. Normally I can do 6-8 easily. Once I had completed the heavy lifting I started swapping a variety of attys ranging from the Cerberus at .17 ohms to an iClear 30s at 2.1 ohms. The post on the 510 connection has a Phillips head so you can adjust the height. With the Hanna, some attys fired, others didn't. The iPV2 fired on every single atty and kicked ass I might add.

to an iClear 30s at 2.1 ohms.
You want to have some fun, build a coil in the 1.5 to 2.0 range to hit the 8.4 volt limit. I actually build a flavor / review test coil on my Zenith V2 around there to really use the powerband of the device. 8.4v is instant and amazing. That 10 wrap micro coil of mine had no idea it was coming and its so good. I wouldn't do it with an iClear as she will not wick it well but a good long 28g manages perfectly.

That sounds like a great idea. I'm relatively new and had been working my down the ohm ladder. I'm ready to work my way back up and play with the voltages. Thanks for the quick response...I have some time to kill tonight so I'll give your idea a spin.

Funny, I got the iPV2 on an impulse. A couple of days ago, I got up at 5:00 a.m. looking for a vape before my shower and work. Cloudy head, not enough coffee. I reach for my Aluminum Box Clone...battery is almost dead. Unscrew the hatch, slap in battery...you guessed it, upside down and PUFFFFFFF. It was all over. I like this one far better.

Reverse battery protection should be renamed "load your mod before contacts or glasses insurance". I actually never understood why the DNA 30 or its clones never put in reverse protection. Seems in theory like a simple addition to the chipset.

I have an original Duke OKR-T10 50 Watt box on the way to my house.
I am excited as hell to compare it to my Hex Ohm since the Hex Ohm is basically a Duke 'clone'
I also was fortunate enough to snag a really low serial number Duke with a new chip and 510 connection. :):):)

I don't think a button top will fit.
You wouldn't want to force a button top in then have the contacts stretched out and no longer fit flat tops properly.
You should try it and if it slips in easy then go for it but if you have to force it then don't.

Does this mod take single or dual batts? 18650 or 26650?
One Sony VTC5 18650 pre installed. Not enough room inside for a dual set up. The SX350 board is inside. 80 watt upgrade will be coming soon. The Atlas is updatable through your PC.

Ever since I read your response about the 1.5 to 2 ohm coil in the 8.7 range, I've been playing it out in my head. Today I finally had some time to sit quietly alone (coils are like meditation for me). I built a dual coil, 28 ga, 13 wraps each. Came out to 1.5 ohms, at 50 watts...BAM, 8.4 volts!!! The vape is so thick and tasty, I wanna eat it. Just for the occasion, I picked up some 80/20 vg/pg honey dew melon juice (2 mg) nic. This is seriously the thickest heaviest warmest tastiest vape ever. Thanks for the tip. If you have some more ideas, HIT ME...I'm ready to meditate!!!

Can't help but go big. I get tired of refilling the small ones with juice. With these coils at these watts...stuff goes fast. Every day, I love this iPV2 just a little bit more. While I did tell myself I'd stop at 50 watts...maybe something will run two 18650's is what I really need..want...whatever.

I've had mine for only two days...plan on getting another one, but black is more like a blue-carbon color...I wouldn't just call it a "charcoal" finish..

Amazing mod..amazing price.. A FUCKING TOUCH SENSOR!!! W007!

Super quick response time..and all the specifications seem accurate- for the sx330 v2 chip.(measured with fluke 99b(actually haven't put it under a scope for frequency..I will today) and 1587, confirmed with inline volt meter, and 510 ohmmeter):)

Also, you probably won't get 50 Watts out of that battery...do you have a voltmeter to check the voltage output?

One thing I forgot to add about the IPV2 was the real time battery voltage indicator..really shows me how my atty's that sprung leaks while using my 4nine really did a number on my vtc5's..

I've been grooving on flat Kanthal in my Zenith, it seems to bring out a bit more flavor with shorter bursts of power with cotton and/or hemp wick. Did a 1.5 ohm dual coil build last night and fired it up on my vaporshark at 30watts. Massive vapor and not too warm for a 2-3 sec draw.

Unlisted Vendor
I bought my black (deep grey) iPV2 a week before the vendors got them (on 7/18). The vendor had it to me in 3 days! I was SO excited I sang the Happy song all day (embarrassed to admit it).
It is much smaller/compact than i ever anticipated and fits in my hand nicely. It is actually lighter than my Vamo v5!.
Production quality spot on. Attention to detail amazing. Aluminum box has a nice powder coating (no flaws, scratches, blemish). Back plate fits nicely. BE CAREFUL with those tiny screws though. Ugh. (I recommended to Denny at Greenleaf to consider a magnetic back for IPV3.)
The inside is clean as a whistle. No solder and ugly wires. The guts are covered nicely too.
Three side buttons are small, clicky, precise. They look like flat BB's.. The touch fire button is a nice OPTION to use (and it can be disabled to avoid misfire).
The screen is small but enough to clearly show W, V, ohms, & battery "bar" (no % or # shown though). The unit locks easily and quick and it powers up super fast. It fires HOT quickly.
I have tried my Kanger aero (1.5 dual), a Kanger mega (1.5 dual), the Yiloong Kaiser (1.6 single), a Fogger 4.4 (1.6 ohm dual) and a Patriot dripper (single & double coils including sub ohm at .4 @ 50 watts!). In each and every case the results were wonderful! More cloud & stronger flavor. Be careful... easy to over shoot the firing "sweet spot" and get your juice too hot.
I have to say, this unit was all that I hoped it would be. For $100.00... are you kidding me?! WOW.

SIDE NOTE... not a surprise to most here but there is a 100 watt version coming out in a few weeks. It uses the sx330 version 3 chip. Specs are on YiHI's site. No preorder yet or price but i am sure it will be a winner (and likely overshadow the segelei 100 watt box coming out around the same time).

ALSO... if you got an IPV2 and want to keep it scratch free my friends over at VaporSkinz are releasing this week a skin for this unit. It has separate front and back pieces. holes for buttons, scree, touch fire, screws and air vent. It will look much like their Variant skin. I am getting the Black Carbon (but the ebony wood and black mamba look hot too).
