how come chocolate always has dry taste?

I've pretty much given up on chocolate vapes. I haven't had any that didn't turn my stomach. Same goes for cherry.

Yeah. A ton of the accurate chocolate juices taste like chocolate powder. There are a couple I've tried that are good, but they're mixed. Maddcatt's Choc de Menthe comes to mind. It's a chocolate menthol. Haven't had it in months so I can't say I would still like it now, but I thoroughly enjoyed my first 30ml bottle.

I'm not trying to be a prick or anything and I totally support questions and answers, but on the flip side, this is a recipe's section, I see no recipes in this thread.

I have found chocolates very difficult, the only one that seems to work well in my mixes is white chocolate. All the others either overpower or don't have enough flavor. I guess its all in finding that perfect balance. I am still searching.

The key is blending.
Think on it this way, what makes chocolate um chocolate?
Try adding some cream, butter, caramel, tobaccos, salt, nuts, fruits, some sort of spice (very very very light on spices, but it is do-able) honey, sugar, brown sugar, etc. I could go on and on. I find a lot of USA chocolates totally lack, including the white chocolate. Personal opinion.

Do not think, just because you bought a single flavor, that that is all you need. You need to add depth and dimension.
Hope this might help a tiny bit.;)

The only chocolate I've found that tastes remotely close is Flavor West's Peanut Butter Cup - which to me tastes like a Reese's PB cup. Its the first thing I've found where the chocolate wasn't uber bitter. Adding sweetener to chocolate bases has helped a bit in my opinion but its a very iffy area for a lot of folks to add sweetener or not. And yes I think LadyRed has it right with adding things to it, rather than just relying on a pre-mixed base to carry you to chocolate nirvana.

The FW PB cup is a milk-chocolate base rather than a dark chocolate base which I think is what helps at least for me.

The only "bad" thing with FW, is that you have to add so much to it, (and I am allergic to PG).
If you are looking to finalize a mix, start out with single servings of flavoring. Find "your spot". Mine might be too low or high.
The biggest reason I go with anything chocolate from overseas, is the fact there is very little PG, and most are highly concentrated.
However the other drawback is, if you are looking to "break" into juice making and sell your flavorings, they only sell so much.

I mix because its a hobby for me, I have no adv, since I started vaping.
I swap flavors like people try out snacks at Sam's club.
But the main thing is, keep trying, do not give up, and last: have fun!

Don't be discouraged - you sure CAN make chocolate vapes - better-tasting chocolate than any vendor out there! http://vapingunderground.com/threads/hics-cocoa-cookies-best-chocolate-ive-ever-vaped.1871/
OR if you prefer mint with chocolate: http://vapingunderground.com/threads/hics-girl-scout-thin-mint-cookies.1813/
It helps enormously to have the 'right' nicotine base to work with.

One huge problem with all the chocolate flavorings is that they're SUPER sensitive to background flavors of plain nicotine base fluid. Your choice of nic base has a lot to do with the flavor of all your recipes -- and some nic base can make chocolate nearly impossible. You know that kind of peppery effect some nic base gives you, sort of a nose-sting, especially if you vape with fairly high nicotine? The chemicals behind that peppery effect screw up chocolate flavoring terribly.

All chocolate flavorings taste FAR better with very pure nic base: http://www.vaperstek.org/nicotine/ (They are the only U.S. distributor for that U.K.-produced, super-clean nic base.) But the two recipes I linked to were actually designed with cheaper nic base. Both still taste better than any vendor chocolate-type liquid I've tried, even if you use nic base from Wizard Labs. They are designed around FlavourArt Cocoa flavoring. That flavoring, vaped plain with Wizard Labs nic, tastes like not-very-sweet dark baking cocoa - it has that chalky effect (the other ingredients in those recipes counteract that and make it taste like baked cookies). BUT with Vapers Tek nicotine base, even plain FlavourArt Cocoa at 3% tastes like properly-sweetened dark chocolate, smooth and delicious.

This recipe is awesome with VT nic base: http://vapingunderground.com/threads/hics-brookside-dark-chocolate-pomegranate.1856/ You taste smooth, dark chocolate candy there. Same recipe with Wizard Labs nic (or most any other besides VT) it tastes like dark chocolate candy dusted with dark cocoa powder coating. It's a very different effect, depending on your nicotine, but I actually like that recipe either way.

Chocolate liqueur flavor in a creamy cocktail vape is easier to do than chocolate candy flavor. The trick is to include FlavourArt Chocolate (which has a liqueur-type flavor to it) with FA Cocoa. Here's a good one: http://vapingunderground.com/threads/hics-baileys-mint-chocolate-cream-liqueur.1836/ I will admit, it's still quite a bit tastier made with Vapers Tek nic, but it works very well with other nic, too.

Try - you'll see you can make GREAT chocolate vapes! It is just awesome the first time you try your own liquid that tastes so great. You'll wonder why you ever bought vendor liquids at all!

I prefer India nic, HIC.. but you are right with the "pepper" effect.
India nic does not have that, and China nic is just down right disgusting!

I also like a lot of the Inawera and VapingZone Chocolates.
VZ gets their flavors from Russia, (same as ecigexpress and a few other SC flavor companies) from Baker's Flavors.
I do order from BF or even Juice Factory, from Australia, and think those chocolates are the best, they certainly beat TPA/TFA, FW and LO.

It also depends on your flavor spot that you personally like.
The percentages you like, I might not.
It also helps to know what you are blending into.

Pretty much everything one does, effects the taste of the juice. One drop of a flavor or additive can change the entire out look and taste/feel.

Wizard's Lab is a good place, but I get mine from a Vendor that is local to me.

They have a mix area, that you can see behind a glass window, and it is something to watch 1000mg nic being mixed. Gives a healthy prospective on how to mix nic and the precautions to use.

how come chocolate always has dry taste?

Adding a small amount of .09% saline not only gets rid of the dryness (in any recipe), but brings out the chocolate flavor.
Think about how you use salt in the kitchen to bring out flavors.
.09% saline is NOT salty ... it's available in the RX dept and is used for flushing out wounds.
Just make sure it's pure .09 saline, and that there are no other ingredients in it.
I've tried it with fruits, and it seems to make them "brighter", and smoother.
It sure seems to add "moisture" to the juice for me.
It comes in a spray can, so just spray it into a drip bottle.
I've tried it at 1 drop per 3ml, but I've seen others use more.
If your thinking about the saline spray solution that is used for your nose ...NO, that's the wrong one, it has other ingredients added.

I make my own 0.9% saline and often add it at 5% to my mixes. Pharmacists in CA can't sell you the larger amounts you need (some law against it because it can be used for something else - I forget exactly what LOL)!

Inawera has a good chocolate and several excellent cherries! No chemestry set mixing needed. A must try! Flavors designed for vaping not cooking! Many other excellent Fruits if that is your thing. Very concentrated flavorings at a good price. Twice the value. Shipping is reasonable but takes 7-20 days. Mine have always showed up in about 7-14 days. It all depends on customes. Flavors are shipped from Poland. They have several lines of products to choose from. With their house blend being excellent to a more condensed pro line, "Wera Garden" that does not fade as fast, and their, "Toni D' Milano" line, who has something to do with Flavorart...not sure what at the moment.:)

I have found "for me" Inawera takes much longer steeping time. I have sampled many and recently went back to some that I mixed a couple of months ago to find they are really good. I know I tried these samples at one month and didn't like them. I'm not sure at what point between one month and 2 they became good vapes but it did happen. So if you don't like a mix... shelf it for awhile and try again. You might be surprised too.

I think Chocolates and Tobaccos' are buddy buddy in a conspiracy to test our patience.
They both like to really "sleep in" :(
(Need to get that chocolate craving a month or more ahead of time.)
I cheat .. I keep an aged bottle of Chocolate Mint handy for "emergency's"
It's the only flavor I make sure I have a big bottle of around at all times, that's old like me.

Here's one for ya ....
I was told that when your juice is almost gone, to make a new batch and add it to the old.
The "old" juice acts as "seed" material, and the new juice matures much faster, requiring less steeping time. ;)
It seemed to work when I tried it ... so what the heck, got nothing to lose.

If ya try it, let us all know how it works for you ... I need more scientifically based test opinions :p

I do that with my Tribecca clone. Interesting, because I just mixed up a fresh batch for a friend at a lower mg than mine. After 4 hours in the crockpot it smells funny - like plastic....I sure hope it'll improve in a few days, because this is not how mine smells (which always gets added to in the existing bottle after it's been in the crockpot - or before, I forget LOL)

FA cocoa @ 3% in VT nic is a magical shake and vape masterpiece lol

Wow, I envy you guys that have working taste buds.
I got absolutely no cocoa or chocolate taste from it.
Maybe if I let some steep more than 3 weeks ???
Oh well, I've tried just about all the chocolates on the market, and it's always blah, so I guess it's "give-up" time.
Now, where'd I put those "real" chocolate covered peanuts

I have not found a chocolate I like either until now. Are you using VT nic? I can't believe the difference it makes, really. I am trying it for the first time tonight and I won't use the 2 liters I have in the freezer now. This is SO clean the flavor comes through.

I mixed FW tonight and was pleasantly surprised.

I have put off trying this nic because of what I have in the freezer but I finally did it.
There is nothing else out there like it.
No wonder I have had such a hard time finding the vapes I like.

Your Welcome
But ... if you liked the Butterscotch, you have GOT to try the FW Vanilla Butternut. :p
I used 18%, and it was to strong, (for FW), but still mouth watering.
I would drop it to the recommended 15%
BTW.. next time make an extra small bottle of the butterscotch and hide it for a while.

I will put that on my list to try. Thanks.
I will also let this butterscotch sit for a bit and see what it turns into. :)
