Anybody having iStick 50W issues?

Hey guys -

It seems my 50W iStick has developed an issue as of late... For example, the build I have in my RDA right now is at .37 ohms, and the iStick rounds up, so it should read at .4 ohms on the device. Well, it does, but starting a few days ago, I'll be vaping it and all of the sudden the vape gets really hot... I'll look at the readout and the ohms reading has gone up (such as right now, my .37 build is reading .8 ohms and the iStick has adjusted the voltage accordingly)... If I keep vaping it like that, one of two things happens: the device will either shut off after about 2 seconds of firing and will not turn back on unless you plug it into a USB cable (it's fully charged), or it will jump back down to .4 ohms and the voltage will go down accordingly again. I've checked the coils (it's done it on a few builds), made sure the connections (both the coil screws in the posts and the actual 510 pin) are secure and snug, but it's still acting up on me... Has anybody else had this issue with their iStick 50W?

Thanks!
-Ben

New development: Now it's randomly changing between .5 ohms and 1.2 ohms in the middle of vaping it, which is really quite painful. lol

first.. i think it will only fire if it is .5ohms and above..
second, have a second ohm reader and vape safe..

i dumped mine.. as it would vape without me (came on, without me pushing the button and vapor pours out of my dripper)
please be careful with it.

Nah, it'll fire down to .2 ohms actually. But yeah, I've definitely been checking all my builds on a proper ohm reader. I'm emailing the place I got it from to see if they'll take it back... When it just jumped from .5 ohms up to 1.2 ohms and cranked the voltage all the way up, it sent scalding hot vapor down my throat which was less than pleasant... So I think I'm going to be dumping mine as well. I was just curious to see if anybody else had had similar issues with theirs. :)

Hey guys,

First post.

Yeah. I have a new istick 50w that's having issues as well. I've seen my ohms jumping between vapes on the same tank (both kanger subtank mini and arctic subtank). I've had my istick not turn on or go erratic until I plugged it into the charger. I am having issues with my fire button not firing as well. Going back to the Vape shop for a swap I guess. It's only a few days old.

Ohh well, at least my sigelei 150 watt is working perfectly.

It's strange. If I click it normally the screen comes on etc. but to fire it I have to press it extra hard. And than it is hit or miss if it actually fires or not.

I haven't had any noted problems with the ohm reading changing, however...

My first iStick developed the problem of continuing to fire *after* I released the button and would do so until it shut itself off or I removed the tank. I only had it two weeks at that point and returned it to the vendor.

Three days in with the new stick and so far all is well.

Got my istick 50w swapped out today. Night and day difference. This istick buttons is an easy press to fire. Turns I a ms off easily. Ohms are steady so far. Not getting warm even when vaping an arctic tank at 50watts.

Very happy with the swap. I had a lack one but they didn't have any black ones in stock. So now I'm rocking a silver version. Looks good with the mosly silver tanks anyway so I don't mind.

My 20w does that, I just run it in voltage mode so it's not changing the wattage, not sure if the 50 will run in voltage mode or not, but with my 20 that seemed to keep the power consistent.

Had that problem on mine. Turned out that the pin was sticking after I put a atty with a long 510 on it. I pryed the pin back up and its been good since. YMMV

Be careful with these units the one I had started to give low battery alert when fully charged. It then started to shut off by itself. One morning I wentt to turn it on ,no arty attached and it popped and smoke came out of the charger port. Local shop replaced it but I think this one may have a fire button issue. I been reading about some that have caught fire even.

Got one on the way here...hope I don't have problems with it. I love the IStick 20 I have now, and was wanting the 50 for my sub ohm tanks. I'll let you all know if issues arise.

The only issues I have with my istick 50w is that it randomly would switch from wattage mode to voltage mode while vaping & the charging indicator doesn't show anymore but it still charges.. I bought this in February but its been thru hell tho lol..

Had mine for a few days now, and the only "issue" I've found is the display doesn't flip like they said it should. Nothing that makes me regret buying it though.

Only issue I have with mine is at times it won't recognize that my sub-ohm tank is on there. It does this a few times and then works again

My istick30 did that and it died 3days later.everyone I tell that to says to use some rubbing alcohol and a qtip to clean around the pin ....and allow a tiny bit to get down under the pin.long story short juice has gotten past the rubber under the pin

Yeah, mine bit the dust half an hour or so after I made that post. Just my luck. The shop owner is out of town and her manager is about as smart as a barrel of hair

Its a flaw in the 30s.....now as for my 50 still going strong...... I hope you gave it a Viking funeral

Of course it'll get a proper pyre. I'll need my vape supplies in Valhalla after all.

my 50w has been working flawlessly for just over 2 months. however, before that i had a 30w and the screen went out after about 2 weeks. it would still fire and everything. you could even still adjust wattage, but you couldn't see what you were changing it to. thankfully vapenw gave me full credit for the device even though it was just past their 2 week policy. i used the credit toward the 50w and have been content since. i am already wanting to upgrade tho cause i got the vapitis :)

not sure if you figured out the *flip screen* yet. if you power off the device and then hold the up and down buttons it should flip it. then power you device back on.

hope that worked.

I'm on my 2nd iStick 50. first one I dropped and it died. This one I've had 5 days and it continues to fire after I release the fire button. will stay on till it times out. The only electronic mod I've never had problems with is my Kbox. I've been through 4 Vamos and an MVP. Any suggestions on an inexpensive replacement? I dont need 50w. The highest I vape is 30w. I do like the 4400mAh battery. I can go a whole day without recharging.

as a last ditch effort, I put some alcohol in the button and let it sit. it is now working after doing that twice. first time it was ok for a day then stuck again this morning. more alcohol and working fine again. I had a leak this week, so I'm sure thats what caused the problem. next step is to take it apart. did that with the last one, but couldnt find the problem. but now I know how to take them apart. I'm going to order a Sigelei very soon.

I'd look at an Evic VT. It has a 5400Mah battery and temp control should you want to use it in the future, for $50 or so just for the mod, it's a decent deal. The screen is easy to see and the controls are simple. I've been using mine as a daily driver since I got it and easily get a couple days out of it, even with a subohm tank.

Thanks for the suggestion. For now the istick is hanging in. I have done 3 alcohol infusions. the last one shut it down for half the day, then it came alive again. I'm definitely going to get something better. cant rely on this one. I must be pretty rough on mods. I go through a lot. Been using the same Kayfun for over a year. Durability is the most important feature for me.
