sig 150 build

hey everyone i was looking to get into the dripping world. i just bough a sig 150 watt Saturday i use a arctic tank with the .2 ohm coil i usually run it at about 60-65 watts and i love it. but im curious to get into dripping. what would you guys recommend for a rda with the sig? i see a lot of people using the mutation x and i had people tell me to use the bullet and royal hunter. Also, is there a big difference between 4 or 3 post rda's if so what is it? and what gauge wire do you use i see a lot of 24-28 gauge. whats the difference with them is the 24 thinner then the 28 or vise versa? how do you bring the ohms up? more wraps for the coil or less? and when i hook up the coil what ohm should i be looking for when i start it up? sorry for all the questions im just curious on the subject.

24 is thicker than 28. I don't drip so the rest I don't know.

As for the posts, it comes down to ease of building. The Mutation, with its 4 post (or at least 4 hole) deck is the easiest RDA I have to build on, even if its not my favorite. Essentially what it comes down to is that 4 holes means you don't need to share a hole when building dual coil builds. Its not the end of the world if you don't have 4 posts, but it does make it a bit easier to learn to build and, if given the option between 2 RDAs where all else is equal except for a 3 vs 4 post design, I'd always take the 4 post.

Personally I use 26 gauge most of the time on my drippers. Basically what it comes down to is that the thicker the wire the less resistance it has. So a 6 wrap coil with 22 gauge will have less resistance than a 6 wrap of 26 gauge. People who run high watts and want super low ohm builds will probably gravitate to thicker wire. The trade off is that thicker wire heats slower, so you really need to push a lot of watts through it to make it enjoyable to use. I think for someone starting out 26 gauge is a good compromise

I have 3 pieces of advice if you want to start dripping or just getting into rebuildables...

1) If you haven't built before, start off with an RDA that will allow you to run single coils. By this I mean an RDA that offers an option to only have airflow on one side. The Mutation is a good example of this. The reason for starting with single coils is that you can just worry about getting one good coil and not have to worry about getting two identical coils. I used my mutation for a few weeks with only one coil (And rebuilt it almost daily for practice) before I had the necessary knowledge to quickly and easily do a dual build.

2)I also have a Sig 150w and I think its important to remember is just because you can push 150w doesn't mean you should or would even want to. Higher watts means a higher temperature. The higher the temp the your clouds, in theory. But there are other variables involved that you will learn from reading and good old trial and error. Personally I don't view vaping as a sport so I don't aim to completely white out a room. I dong think I've ever turned the Sig up past 40w except maybe out of curiosity and generally don't run past 30w in my day to day. Could I? Sure, but I don't personally feel the need to. You may find you want to, but don't jump there right away. You should be able to build and get good clouds/flavor at below 40w before you go pushing the mod to its limits. So for me the real benefit of the Sig is battery life.

3) Finally, super low sub ohming is really not necessary with a VW mod, at least in my opinion. People who use mechanical mods build very low resistance coils so that their mod will push more watts. With the sigelei you don't need to go low to get that wattage. You can just push a button. Start out with builds between .5 and 1 ohm. Later, once you're more confident go lower if you want. The one thing that really makes me cringe is when people on here say "I just got my first RDA and the shop built me a .1 ohm coil setup". Without knowing what your doing and why you need to do it, this can be dangerous. Now the sigelei does have safety features to avoid fires/explosions/mayhem and violence, but I don't personally feel that I or anyone else should put their safety completely in the hands of a Chinese made circuit board. The failsafes are great, but you're objectively better off if you never need to use them.

Edit: Please don't take this as a knock against you, but rereading your post, some of the questions your asking are things you should know before you even touch a dripper (such as does more wraps give more resistance). So I guess my final piece of advice is read read read. Read the forums, read articles on sites, read whatever you can find. There is a ton of info out there for someone who wants to get into RDAs. Read until you understand everything being said and, of you're still not sure, ask on here first. You may find people who blow off what they view as "stupid" questions, but in general the members of this forum truly want to and are willing to help. Its much better to ask a silly question than to have something go wrong. Vaping isn't hard or necessarily dangerous, but you need certain prerequisite knowledge first.

Take a look at http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp?. For more information, click on "how it works" and pay attention to heat flux and heat capacity. You enter the wire gauge, select single/or dual coil, enter the resistance, and watt, and it will calculate the rest for you, in order to build the coil. However, it's just a guideline, use an Ohm meter to verify your build.
