Inconsistent KFL build results

So I have 4 KFL's. One from angelcigs without afc, two EHPro KFL+ v2 with dual afc screws on the bottom and one black EHPro KFL+ v2 with a single afc screw on the bottom. The angelcigs has always been trouble free. The two dual afc EHP's were finicky but now I have the build pretty good on both. No dry hits or flooding ever. In fact one of them is about 5 tanks in on the same wick and build and still tastes and vapes great. The black one is a thorn in my side. The build is identical to the other two EHP, but it suffers from either flooding from the air hole after about half a tank, or dry hits that require primer puffs to get juice in the chamber. I have held the decks with the coil side by side and there is no difference. I have rewicked it numerous times. I'm at a loss as to why this one is giving me so much trouble.

Thoughts??

Oh and am finally giving organic cotton balls a try. I tried them before but could never get the consistency right. Is there an easy way to get the right amount without having to pull little pieces off as you wick the coil. I remember seeing something where someone said they unrolled and cut pieces a certain size. Can't remember where I saw it.

the Rayon works way better than the organic cotton as far as wicking and dry hits..

I have had no problems for the past 2 months with my black edition KF's... now all of a sudden in the past few days I'm getting dry hits on one of them constantly.. I have been using the same build as well.. the only thing I can think of is that I'm now using the nano kit for it and maybe I need to lower the height of the coil? Either way I'm frustrated... I just rewicked this morning and already getting dry hits and of course I'm stuck at work now lol

The black one is a thorn in my side. The build is identical to the other two EHP, but it suffers from either flooding from the air hole after about half a tank -
This is an indication that you may have lost all negative pressure (vacuum) in the tank - perhaps due to an air leak at the chimney o-ring, or...
The juice channels are more deeply cut than the original "SvoeMesto pattern", and the "boundary layer" between positive and negative pressures cannot be maintained, or...

Your air screw is set for a tight draw and you're inducing too much vacuum in the tank - overcoming the negative pressure that serves to meter juice at more balanced levels... pulling an excess of juice into the chamber.
Even a change in drip tip... allowing higher intake pressures, can cause flooding.

The "SvoeMesto pattern". SvoeMesto spent more time on the juice channel orifice dimensions than on any other aspect of the original KF. The "boundary layer" design is unique among RTA type atomizers, in the sense that no wick/restriction method is required to maintain separation of liquid and air. If the dimensions are not duplicated 1:1 as nearly as possible, you tend to have problems.
Too large and flooding and even complete drain out to even fluid levels can occur... too small and dry hits are common. It's a fine balance... that in the early days of bad, no where near 1:1 KF 'clonary', the Chinese didn't have a good grasp of.

or dry hits that require primer puffs to get juice in the chamber. -
Most common reason for this is that the air screw is set too 'loose'... or removed entirely, and you don't get enough vacuum at the boundary layer to pull juice to the wick.
I wonder about these dual air KFs and if anyone actually considered the pressure balance. Too much intake air through a fixed orifice design means that the vacuum required to draw juice into the atomization chamber may be reduced (and even altogether bypassed) to the point where dry hits are common place.

I'm not saying that any of the above is definitly your problems(s)... but that they are points of consideration. Good hunting! ;)

Cotton balls are made from cotton roll - so, if you can find the 'tail' of the roll, they can be unrolled. Once unrolled and laid out flat, it's easy to pull or cut off a fairly consistent piece.

I can't do cotton balls, just too ambiguous. The right cotton pads are working good for me. Takes a lot of guess work out of it. I had terrible burning with rayon (still don't know if it was from too much or too little.)

you need to use a bit more rayon than you would cotton because its thinner.. but after you figure it out, its miles ahead of cotton and you won't need to swap it out as much
