where do you buy your wire?? longshot but ... from what i've read .. Kanthal is actually a brand name (like Coke:cool:) so when you buy "kanthal" it's not necessarily the same... resistance wire made in china/???/? can have VERY widely varying composition. Aside from the health concerns with any wire if it's 'sub par' you could also be affecting your flavor.. 'nother thing - are you 'pre soaking' the cotton for the kanger? thats kinda key to not getting burnt cotton... I'm sure your aware of these things but just wanted to cover the bases.. :)
Thats fine thank you i get my kan wire from my local vape shop so should be legit lol and yea i wet the wick up well

It may just be certain flavors that punch you in the throat like that. There are some flavors from FA that hit me in the throat as well, mostly the citrus flavors. But if I give them some time to steep, for me, the harsh hit goes away and turns into some yummy stuff!

The flavors you listed, except for the strawberry and banana, are multi flavored premades I'm guessing. So it would be difficult to tell what flavor it is that hits so hard. I use a 50pg/50vg 8mg nic base that I mix up before adding any flavor. Since all of my flavoring is pg based, I am slightly higher pg than vg. (This may also cause more throat hit)
As for the steep time for something to smooth out? I would say 4 to 5 days, maybe a full week.

tutti frutti is gum, not a mix. It is odd that all the FA flavors are giving you an issue.

Im no expert on any of those flavors, but it sounds odd to me.

Like I said maybe try an order of fa flavors from some where else. There may be a difference in UK and USA flavors. I mean I doubt it, but who knows. More pg is going to hit your throat more.

I smoked 1-2 packs of cowboy killers a day for 15+ years and I find a 50/50 mix in a subtank hurts my throat, regardless of flavor.

Like wllmc said, some flavors maybe even all FA flavors are not right for everyone..

I tried cap, fw, loranne, and tfa's peach and mango flavors before I found FA peach, mango and white peach. I cant stand all the rest only FA. The rest taste like candy and give me a sour stomach. But plenty of people use those same flavors in their all day vapes. This is the only bad thing about DIY. sorting through the flavors you don't like.

Yes i know its a shame tbh as there such a good company and this forums is perfect for it all you guys have been great help!
I do understand that it is easy to over flavour fa cuz there so strong and the way i have been making them is pulling syringe to get abit of air in it then suck the flavour to the line and not counting the but what is left in the needle tip so im hoping that this sting to the throat is from over flavouring as i think? It can cause a sting if you over flavour?
Also i did used to vape 80pg but this throat sting/hit is different to a pg hit its more like having way to much nic init but its deffo not that!
Iv got some flavours in the door today
Tjuice - jack the ripple / red astire
Capella - NY cheese cake / vanilla custard v1
Im gona do three 3ml samples 15/20/25% and that way i think i could pin point were i wana be better then whag i did with my fa batch and just mix and hope for the best lol

Maths question for you lol
If i make 10ml at 15%
And 10ml at 25%
Then put them both together that would give me 20ml at 20% rite?

Never mind it does make it 20% been over it loads lol
Is that a good way of mixing mix 2 x 10ml one at 15% one at 25% and mix together if one is weak one is strong?
Or would you say just make small batchs 2ml at 15% 20% 25%?
As im gona mix some up soon and duno what would be best lol

If you can mix up small batches it is obviously best in terms of less wastage and you can just add flavour or base from there. Personally being new to this myself I have been mixing 20ml of most of the recipes as not using drop methods or scales. I use syringes and as FA is so concentrated and the percentages are so low, particularly in some recipes that I would find it too awkward with this method to make 2-5ml.
Im probably the wrong person to advise being a newbie as well, but so far its working for me and TBH I generally find I need to try a juice for a few days before I have made my mind up on it anyway. Sometimes in the past vendors juices have been great at first then I have got totally bored of them halfway into a 30ml bottle and vice versa some have grown on me. So making 20ml I can get a good feel for if I want to mix up a recipe again. So far been fortunate 3 out of 3 have all been very nice, I will no doubt come across one soon I have either bodged the mix or just really dont like and will have wasted 20ml but I dont mind at the moment. I think the best advice I would give is simply do what works best for you.

Cheers mate
Whos recipes are you doing? Also what is your pg vg ratio? Im 30pg 70vg and i think thats why i have struggled to get good flavours and yeah the 0.5% i think could be a paint but from what i can gather 0.10ml is 4 drops from my 1ml syringe, i tested that when making my test batchesso 5ml sample at 0.5% would be 1 drop i think! and that was the first time using 1ml syringes before i was using 2ml think maybe thats why i may have messed my last mixes up,
I may give hic and willmc recipes ago the weekend see how that works for me cuz for some reason i get a harsh feeling from fa standalones im doing

So far I have mixed HICs xtra creamy tiramisu (I upped it all to 1.25% on each flavour) and Jays Caramel Apple from here. The caramel apple recipe in particular was superb. The tiramisu I would probably go down to 1% as the original recipe had on tiramisu and up all the creams by .5% mixing it again. The other recipe I did was Strawberries and Cream by a guy Fresh03 on youtube, its also on the e-liquid recipes site think under the name freshaspies. I would recommend that one as well, was only a couple of FA flavours in that one but was very smooth and creamy, that one was an 83% VG mix. Im doing the recipes on here @ 70/30 mainly to start with so that I can put them in tanks as well as drippers but will probably go higher on the VG when remaking my favourites. Personally found I have got lots of flavour from the mixes I have made, I dont do shake n vape though I do leave everything for at least a few days (tho wont with any citrus, mint or anise ones from what I am reading they fade a bit).
On the HIC recipes I get the idea quite a few of them people are mixing them 1.5x the percentages for extra flavour. I find it helpful to read through the whole thread on a recipe before mixing it just to get an idea of peoples feedback to decide if its one I want to mix and if I want to amend it when I do it based on what other people have said. I think you cant go wrong mixing there recipes from the majority of the feedback. I spent ages looking at all the recipes and just mixed the ones I liked the look of initially and from the feedback.
Maybe its worth mixing a recipe that has other manufacturers flavours in as well as FA ones for more of a balance? Something like Jasons White Coconut Cake for example? (i have that steeping myself at the mo)

Yeah i agree i steep all mine what i have made if not they are flavourless im getting better flavour from fa concentrates now but the one thing i cant get my head round is this bleeding sting in my throat from it on exhale its like its got waaaay to much nic in i dont get it when i mix vampire vapes heisenburg and pinkman concentrates just fa iv now mixed 2 capellas NY cheese cake and cuatard and tjuices red astir and jack the ripple see if that gets me anywere,
But i al hoping when i mix some of hic recipes i dont get this sting in the throat cuz if i do i guess its just that fa flavours just dont agree with me all though my friend has tryed mine and said the same thing either that or fa flavours just dont agree with vampire vapes vg pg and nic :/
Im also using 70vg 30pg in a subtank mini at 20-22w

Subtank Mini, Provari 2.5 Dragon Edition :), 28AWG Kanthal, 2.4mm 8 wraps, 1.6ohm, 4.5 volts, over 40 different FA flavorings ran through that exact setup... No issues anywhere near what you're experiencing. It's slightly possible that you're one of the 1:1,000,000,000,000 with a VG sensitivity?

Thats something to think of! Couldnt i order that of fa site? As im in uk!
Im hoping this harshness goes away with steep but from what i can see online this can happen when you over flavour and iv also seen that steeping helps this aswell? Its very disappointing as i really like fa selection that said my friend have tryed my flavours and he gets the same harshness so i dout that is the case, im confidant its my mixing or maybe my steeping :/ i have seen something somewhere that this can happen when the flavour aint mixed in the the vg yet

just curious to know. i know you guys were talking about nic but on another note. i spoke to a flavor extract company about temperatures control. they told me that molecules escape in certain temps that will lower the potency of the taste and smell. they said the ideal temp is 20 below room (around 50-55 degrees) what do you think about keeping liquid chilled (not refrigerated) but chilled?

thank you
