I haven't been DIY'ing for very long; maybe about 7 or 8 months now so forgive me if I act like a total noob here. I recently branched out into Flavourart flavorings from my rather long history with TFA and Capella flavorings. I just got to the point where I had enough FA flavorings in my stash to be able to make an entire recipe using nothing except FA. I was really excited about all of this, but did notice that the nicotine that I have been using this entire time all of a sudden began tasting peppery to me. I was wondering if any of you experienced this pepper phenomenon and why does this happen? I never ran into this before when using TFA or Capella flavorings. I'm currently using nicotine from Ecig Express, which has been working fine for me until now. Am I doing something wrong? Please tell me I'm not a crazy person. Thanks.

Perhaps you're finally getting your taste buds back after smoking - lots of people have "peppery" nic problems from suppliers other than Vaperstek - I've used Nude Nicotine and had good luck, others swear by VT and only VT. I know the couple times I've veered away from these two brands I've noticed a strong difference. If you vape fruits/desserts/bakery flavors rather than tobaccos the difference seems to be even more pronounced.

I've been vaping for 5 years now so I don't think it's that. I only noticed the pepper taste coming through more after I started using flavors that were higher in concentration. It was kind of only coming through now and then before, but now it's like vaping peppered lemonade. It may just be my taste buds though (shrug). I'll have to check out VT and Nude Nicotine on my next order. Thanks :)

Personally, I got a very peppery batch from Nude and haven't used them since. My favorites are VT, Nicotine River, and NicVape (the latter two use NicSelect).

Interesting, I've noticed this exact thing. From ecigexpress, no less, and when switching to almost all FA flavors. I think I'm going to be ordering my nic from someone else next time, just to compare and all. But I'm glad you posted this, it was something I noticed and didn't think enough of to ask.

I switched to VT nic also! I think that as you generally use a much lower overall percentage of flavorings using FA that the nic can get in the way if it's peppery. VT nic is very clean and there's no peppery flavor to interfere with the clean/low percentage of flavorings!

I agree with @AmandaD and was going to say the same thing pretty much, except for the plug for VT Nick lol. The lower amount of flavoring from FA may certainly be why you are getting the pepper taste now. I would for sure try a small bottle of nice from another source!

My wizards was super peppery, my last order from ecigx was flavorless.
Unless something has changed in the last few months on ecigx I am not sure.

Could totally be me, could be that I simply didn't mix it up well enough, could be my tastebuds were off. I'm hesitant to blast vendors I trust and have good faith in, I'm hesitant to blast anyone for that matter - so I can't, don't have enough time with it to blame it on the nic. As far as I'm concerned, I'm vaping it right now, different recipe, and it tastes fine. I do find it interesting that someone else kind of mirrored my inner thoughts on something so specific.

wasn't knocking just saying I have not noticed pepper in my ecigx nic.
For all I know they could have switched supplier or it is an off batch, I have noticed a lack of flavor going the vg instead of pg carrier.

Greetings @Serenity !

I'm sorry to hear that you are having this issue!

Could you provide me with:
-The conditions in which the bottle was being stored
-The size of the bottle
-The date you purchased the product on
-The batch number located on the label in a little white box

Oh wow. Umm okay, but I honestly wasn't blaming the nicotine yet. The batch I am currently using is #031315. It's a 250 ml bottle. I keep it in my kitchen cupboard that is the furthest away from my stove or any heat source. This bottle I bought 3 months ago, I believe. I'd have to go back through my records for a specific date of purchase. I just got a second bottle in on Friday, but haven't tried that one yet. I never noticed this before when I was using TFA or Capella flavorings, it was only when I mixed a few recipes using all FA & VZ flavors.

I really only wanted to know if anyone else was having this issue and hopefully perhaps narrow down the source of it so that I could see what I was doing wrong. I've only been mixing my own liquids for about 7 months now and really am enjoying the process. I'm interested in improving my skills in this area.
