I've got a subox mini with a mutation x rda. I built my first dual coil with 26 awg at 3mm 8 wraps and came to .4 ohms.
Built my 2nd identical but may have had the coils centered a Lil more and maybe just a touch higher thus had Lil bit longer leads and it came to .5 ohms.
I used the same wicking method on both.
But lost tons of flavor.
What is going on here?
I centered and raised with hopes of getting more air flow by having a larger gap under the coil.
There isn't much of a difference in the two builds other than flavor loss.
Should I bring the coils down more or use more cotton?
Did I loose that much flavor from .1 ohm?
Both builds I'm running at 50 watts. With air flow wide open.
Tried to make air flow and wattage adjustments to get flavor back but it can't be found.
I just want the best possible flavor I don't care how I got to build it but I can only go down to .3 ohms.
Still lost on how I lost so much flavor.

With my mutation I have the air flow closed off to just one row. Get pretty good flavor. Try that if you haven't

I have the mutation X4, I must say I use my el cabron more, deeper juice chamber and seems to provide better flavour. I will try airflow to just one row like said above see if that makes it more 'tasty'.

Yeah its a air flow issue and or power problem. I got to thinking. Because I'm vaping a couple amps less the coil cools easier with the same air flow. So I basically got to suck softer or adjust airflow or both. I wasn't thinking the amperage was lowered by that much. But a 1.2 to 2.9 amp drop when vaping at max of 13 amps is pretty big I guess.
50 watts is 10amps at .5ohms
50 watts is 12.9amps at .3ohms
That is a significant loss of power strength lost.
Thanks for everything guys.

Try a single coil 9 wrap, 1.2 ohm, with one side closed off. On the coil side open 1.5 rows of air. Use a 2.5 diameter for the coil. Don't go over 25 watts, I stay at 22.5.

Give it a go. Move the outside ring for coil air hole alignment until you get the best flavor. Centered on this build isn't necessarily better.

Remember 1.5 rows of air holes.
