I was blessed to get this kit before it came out, from the nice folks at Heaven Gifts and got to use it extensively before most others did. I rebuilt the coils and modified them but only had two when I first got the kit..

The ego mega is pretty good out of the box, it has a massive amount of air flow, I think I could stick a Burger King Straw down this hole.

Anyhow,im not one for leaving anything as it is and always like to tweak it, so I bought some CLR Coils and am going to stick some Spider Silk in there to see how well it works with some organic jap cotton.

I have taken the gold pin from the stock coil and will be using it because it not only has a larger hole, but...its gold plated...

Here we goo

I'll be interested to see how this works out! I have the CLR Ti coils, but so far I've only rewicked them. They're 10 times better than the stock coils, but still far from perfect. No comparison unfortunately to the subtank with the RBA deck. But the tank is so pretty (matchy matchy) I really want it to be my favorite tank LOL

If you still have the stock coil take out the pin and replace...look at the difference between the two....I almost collapsed a lung with that thing :)

Okay was winding a larger coil and that doesn't fit so i wound a smaller coil right next to it, to show which works best on this one....you want the one on the left. A teeny bit bigger then stock CLR heads. :)

I use a razor blade to help with the spacing on these coils. It always perfect and the sharp edge really helps space the coils apart.

Thats all i have as well....this thread is to see if we can make it work :)

Perfect! And, I read somewhere else that contact coils work well with Ti, so I tried it in something (no idea which tank it's in now), and it works fine. I also pulsed till it was blue and used rayon. I do remember being impressed that it worked as well (if only I could remember where it is LOL).

Rayon is a good high flow wick that works well just as long as it never ever gets dry, so i have considered using it as well. I have 6 lifetimes worth of Japanese cotton so Im going to figure out how to make it work as best as I can with this. Thank you for the input, GREATLY appreciated!!!

I only pulse the TI wire for no longer then .5 seconds at a time, just to ensure that I don't have ay places that are touching and that I have proper in-out glow...but i never let it glow, just barely red, as soon as i can see the color change i stop. I will brush the coil with a pipe cleaner to ensure any dust or debris may be gone. that helps me get it in the coil too. NEVER had residue, but I clean no matter what.

A clean vape is a happy vape

I started using rayon well over a year ago, then discovered Muji. So I have a lifetime supply of both. I've recently been reaching for the rayon more with Ti though - I think it holds more liquid and gives a better vape in Tc mode. Yes, I only do tiny pulses also, until the smoky stuff burns off! I rinse mine under cold water also.

Dang it!!! Now you are going to make me want to go break out my old stuff, I think I have a string of it somewhere...

Going to have to check out Muji, thank you so much

I modify my clippers on one side of the cutter to be flat.use another clippers file :)..this way I can pull the wire to tighten it AND be able to clip with the same tool....work smarter not harder...

Same width as stock coil means it should work well without clearance issues.

On a side note, I have Ti, Ni,and the CLR Ti coils. All have the gold pins! But the regular Ti, Ni coils have tiny juice holes, and the ones on the CLR Ti coil are much bigger!

Turns out my coil is just a teeny bit smaller then the stock one. Instead of doing it all over again with the right tool, (im feelin lazy) I over-wound the coil 1/2 wrap then unwound it on the screw driver and it opened it up just perfectly :)

When i bought these, this was all that I could find. I just needed a base, wasn't worried about it anyhow. I just pulled this Mega out from hiding, I haven't used it in a while now...Ill be okay swapping pins out, i think the NI coil didnt come with this gold contact and only the Ti did in the kit. May be wrong

I modified my CLR head by drilling a 2.5mm hole at the base of the slits so I can have a bigger coil and more wicking

Did you drill right above the juice flow adjustment ring or remove it and drill there?

Realized its easier to FULLY install the coil and get it seated first then wick...mess ups along the way are important to document....

This is a wonderful post so far, and just one more reason why I am hoping to hell Kanger comes out with occ Ti coils for the subtank. So I can then go get them and an evic vt and be happy. Until then I will hold off on TC mods

Sleeper coil? I thought you were wrapping one wire:eek:

In the racing world, a car is referred to as a sleeper when it looks stock on the outside and modded on the inside. Sorry for the confusion

Im going to Vapor Shark tomorrow just to try em out. See what the fuss is :) I rebuilt an OCC with Ti wire the other day as well...its in the white one right now....

I used to own a company in the Keys where I did small electrical work and taught myself to solder things of this size...so these vaporizers are a bit easier to work with. Mods are really simple inside too...

I've been vaping for six years and just started building coils. Coils are fairly easy to make but getting the wicking right is a PITA. Any pointers for wicking?

I find that if you twist the tip up and get the wick started it makes the rest easier, but you have to get the tension just right. Too much cotton and it cant flow juice, and too little and you'll have floppy wick...and no one likes a floppy wick...

I find that just peeling of the top layer bit by bit of the cotton to figuring the right amount really helps. I use jap pads from amazon

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MYXSRAQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

consider sticking with one size coil that way you can figure what amount of cotton works best. Then Id cut strips and prep about 12 pieces based off this new knowledge. fine a baseline and work from there.

Remember this is a very vsimple thing we are doing. Sending current through a wire, and a wick with juice on it....its not rocket surgery. Its only as complex as you want to make it. So step back and take a deep breath and show that coil whos boss!!

It's very easy to build Ti coils with the RBA deck!

Tell us you pulled that Ti coil out first. If you didn't, be darn'd careful not to get ahead of your wick. I love Ti, but I only use it for TC vaping.
