I have to try FA, I have TFA's and there is something sort of funky about it, not sure how to use it yet, and does not seem to come across as blackberry, then again maybe I just have not found the right percentage for it yet.

EVERYONE has different taste buds...I have used TFA's and LorAnn's and I enjoy them both. I make what I call "my Berry Blend" and everyone who has tried it really likes it. about a dozen people so far, I live in a small neighborhood. (everyone who has tried it use's glassomizers-no dripper's). I use a 50%-50% PG, VG mix and nicotine level of your choice). here is my blend " 4% Huckleberry,4% Blackberry, 4% Raspberry, 4% Strawberry, and a (pinch) 1% Sweetner"..

So I recently just put in my first order of a few FA flavors and I just have to say that I just created an account on this forum after it was linked to me on Reddit purely because of HeadInClouds AMAZING reviews.

Thank you so very much!

I may be wrong, but TFA seems more of a baked cobbler like blackberry, at least at the % I used, but I am sure it is good, I used way too much in what I mixed using it for the first time is likely the only issue. Flavor west blackberry seems pretty easy, maybe more fresh, too early to tell....FA blackberry just arrived and I will give it a shot for sure, I always add a tiny raspberry, I mostly go for the fresh berry taste....so far.

I'm suspicious of my blackberry, smells like ripe eggs and cologne from the bottle. and a drop in an ounce of water tastes like the smell. I think I caught a faint whiff of some fruity notes, so I repeated and while the fruit is in the background, it tastes mostly of funky feet. Failing the water test makes me not want to vape it :p

Any thread watchers experience this smell or taste? (I haven't vaped it yet)

Ok, I want to make sure I understand your correctly. I also tried FA's blackberry about a year ago and thought it was horrible (I agreed with the 'worst flavor I've ever tried' comment).

Are you saying that you think you got a bad batch a year ago and recent batches are better or do you think you just maybe used too much or something of the original batch? I'm curious because I still have my bottle from a year ago (somewhere).

Haha! Highly perfumed cheap soap - good description. As I've said, I totally agree - in fact, when I'm asked what's the worst flavoring I've ever tried, it's FA Blackberry.

(What's odd is that generally I really like FA. Oh well.)

I don't have any FA 'Forest Mix' (though I have Capella's 'Harvest Berry' which I like). Might have to get some of the Forest when I place another order.

I mixed some at 1% in a cobbler recipe...needless to say, it'll be quite some time until I try any more! It's steeping deep in the bowels of the sewer at the moment.

Just mixed this up and it's pretty tasty...

FA Blackberry 3.5%
Cap V. Custard V2 8%
TFA Marsh 3%
TFA Vanillin 1.5%

Shake n vape is pretty, good should only get better with a little time under it's belt

I purchased a 10 ml bottle from mama j's about a month ago, Initial smell from bottle was not pleasant., a little like cologne and some other unrecognizable smell not of this earth, well maybe a puke kind of smell.
Tried some in HIC's "Black Rum" recipe, which calls for 1.5% blackberry. Unfortunately the taste was pretty much god awful, had very strong perfume taste. Attempted to let the mix breath overnight by leaving the cap off of the mix, recapped and let sit for a week. Second taste was a slight bit better but still had strong perfume taste with a slight berry taste. Seems odd that almost a year after HIC's first experience with possible bad batch some people are still getting bottles of this flavor that tastes like perfume and some getting bottles that taste OK. I am a little reluctant to reorder not knowing what i might get.

@HeadInClouds, do you know what berry flavors are in Forest Fruits besides blackberry? I thought I remembered a single post you made on it many months ago, but can't find it and may be imagining it.

FA Blackberry: 1% !! warning, strong flavor!

First, I owe an apology to FlavourArt and anyone who has read my previous comments on this flavor. I got a bottle of FA Blackberry a long time ago that was so disgusting, I criticized it far and wide as one of the worst flavors I'd ever encountered. That bottle was horrible - it reeked of melted plastic. It came in a glass vial, so the container was not at fault. I wonder if FA had a batch that was no good, about a year ago - because I saw other people voice the same opinion around that time.

I recently got brave enough to try another bottle from a different vendor. This came in a plastic dropper bottle, original FA packaging. After the trauma of that first bottle, I hesitated to use it.

FlavourArt states this one of their strongest flavors, and I agree. 1% standalone is plenty strong for me. I hesitate to try it any higher, though I notice some are using 2-3%. I think this flavoring would taste floral if used much over 1%.

I made the mistake of too much. Tasted like a floral perfume with a hint of soap. Wish i would've saw this prior. Thanks for all that you do HIC. Because of you and the rest of the people on this site my venture into DIY has been great. I would buy all of your recipes but my wife just had a baby that spent time in the NICU so I'm kinda poor( the reason for DIYing) Thanks again

I hope all is well for you on that front, and I'm glad your DIY is pleasing you!

After a day the Blackberry @ 3.5% in the custard I mentioned above was floral, but after a month steep it came around and was really a decent vape.

I've just reworked it as follows.

.25 FA Anise
4% Cap Cust V1
4% Cap Cust V2
3% TFA Marsh
1.75% FA Blackberry
1.25% FA Vanilla Tahiti
.75% FA Forest Fruit
1.5% FA Bilberry
.5% Vanilla Classic

Whew... I made some blackberry custard (0.5% blackberry + 3% FA Custard) and it tastes like potpourri. Perfume, flowers, whatever.

I guess I'll stash this in a drawer and wait for a while.

A loooooong while.

Did you try it before you stashed it? It's actually not bad and I don't like floral vapes.

Yes. That's what I was saying. It tasted like flowers or perfume.

What's everyone's finally feeling on FA BlackBerry? Here's my supply list I also have sweet cream Vienna Cream and strawberry. Who has a must have recipe I can use? Been searching and made a bunch but I can't stop with the Custard!

Someone more helpful than I will come along but I've gotta ask about Cobalt. That's new to me.

Is it blue?

FA (FlavourArt) Blackberry tasted like Granny's Perfume to me, even with steeping.
And FA Bilberry was the same thing, although I might have gotten a bad batch, never tried reordering as I've found others I like.

Haven't got/tried TFA Blackberry yet.
But...
VZ-SC Blackberry, FE, FW, & CAP are all good, no perfume.
But all of them are pretty strong, like 2% max.

Y'know, Heabob, if I'm in the neighborhood, I'd most certainly enjoy dropping by to get a peak at your flavoring collection. :)

Think I'm up to about 350 now:D.

That's a ton but I'm not flabbergasted as you have demonstrated familiarity with multiple brands of a single flavor on a number of occasions. Subjectivity aside, your 'legwork' is appreciated and I'm sure you're helping DIYers to invest in better versions. :)

Thanks guys.. It tasted odd in my dripper but my girlfriend loves it in her tank.. It's almost like a bubblegum even though I was going for Custard lol
