Alright, folks. I've done a butt ton of research on mechanicals, and am upgrading from my awesome iJust 2 with a Plume Veil. I really wanted the SMPL clone, but the only one on Fasttech with good reviews has been discontinued. grrrr I want something that, when coupled with a Troll, will hit like a 747 to the face, and is capable of huge, billowing, nuclear bomb-like clouds. I'm not a huge fan of hybrids, but am open to them (hence my original liking to the SMPL clone). I've always loved the COV Kindred, but its a bit long for my liking. I've been eyeballing the Steampunk and the Nemesis, but am open to your opinions. What clone from Fasttech, that's $20 or so, hits like I want, preferably has a floating pin connection, and is as reliable as the daylight? Any suggestions or recommendations? I wanna be able to build down to .01 and just enjoy some monster, competition-style clouds from a Troll RDA. Oh, I prefer copper, for better conductibity, and I dont care if its coated or not. Shoot your comments my way, I'm all ears. Thanks for your time.

The other smpl clones im sure work just fine..there's not much to not get right on them...Get the copper model and vape away.

You do know the smpl is a hybrid and you cant just use any atty or tank right?

If not, you can only use an atty where the 510 pin sticks out a good ways from the 510 threads or something with an adjustable 510..Failure to do this can result in a dead short which is not a good thing.

Also .10 ohm is really pushing your luck..im not sure the best battery made which is the sony vtc4 has enough amps to rock a .10 on a single battery mod..nevermind a .01 which is not possible.

Do yourself a favor and rock a .20 ohm...I think people are more cool when they are safe instead of stupid.

Avoid the steampunk if you're looking for a heavy hitter.
every clone I've come across has had the coating on all of the threads resulting in a significant volt drop.
they can be cleaned up if you want to put forth the effort but there are better options.

.1 was what I meant. I usually vape at .2.

I actually came across a 1:1 SMPL on Angelcigs yesterday, so I'm a happy man.

Out of curiosity, why would you recommend steering clear of the Steampunk?

I absolutely love my stainless SMPL. Getting a copper version next. Haven't used or seen a tube mech I like better yet. I prefer versions with a spring in the switch. Not a fan of fragile magnets. I hope the clone you ordered is a good one. My fasttech piece is super nice. I've seen a few SMPL clones in local shops that are crap.

I'd be curious to know why the Troll RDA wouldn't fire on the SMPLE mod. I was thinking about purchasing one and using a Freakshow Mini RDA on it.

Because of the coating on the threads.
you said you were looking for a "heavy hitter" and the volt drop caused by the coating takes the steampunk out of that catagory.
it does function and you can remove the coating to improve conductivity but there are plenty out there that perform better without modification in the same price range.

Me too. Who said that? About the only reason a SMPL wouldn't fire something is if the atty's positive didn't protrude enough and the thing shorted. If that happens, a non firing atty isn't your problem.

i have a stainless and a copper SMPL clone and been really enjoying them. they were like $12 a piece and seem to be very well made. the only thing i didn't like is that the copper came with a poly coat on it. keeps it looking fresh and makes it so your hands don't stink, but i was looking forward to a nice patina. i might sand it off. i vape around .4ohm using LG HE4 and samsung 25r batteries.

i got mine off of ebay. i try to avoid fasttech if i can. i don't like waiting 2-3 weeks to receive my gear.

Chemically removing the clear coat would be better than trying to sand it I would think. That would ensure the threaded areas are naked copper that hasn't been damaged. Then you could finish the outside how you want.

the threads and inner tube area don't appear to be coated. just the outside. but what chemical would remove this? just a paint thinner? i have never done this.

Acetone should take care of most coatings.
easy off oven cleaner will take care of the rest. Beware though, easy off will also patina the copper but probably not in the way you're thinking. It'll come out more black than the "forced patina" using salt and ammonia.

I would say nemesis but I saw this really cool mechanical mod when I bought my sigelei box mod. It's called the chi mechanical mod or something it's beautiful but I have too many mechanical mods already

Sounds like the Chi You Megan (sp). Those are cool, too. I ended up with the SMPL I got off angelcigs.
