Oh man... very nice. what were the specs... type of wire, gauge, ohms. just curious
Yes... please post away. seems like you have some great skill
Thank you kindly!!!
28/36g for those aliens, they were .14 around a 2.4mm screwdriver.
Also whipped up some 30/36g aliens for the Freakshow Mini & Subtank:

71982e8f3098acb33460626dc53e1003.jpg

Freakshow ohmed out at .22 & subtank at .29
I'm loving absolutely everything about the Alien wire, as far as build time/benefits go they're just awesome! The coils themselves wick wonderfully, so they never burn the cotton or even really get dirty. Threw a (fairly ugly) pair of 28/36g aliens in the twisted messes atty today, and i'm loving every second. For me the 28g cores work really well, the atty itself stays MUCH cooler than with the 26g cores, even at the same resistance.

Dual 6 wraps around 3mm driver clocks in at .15 ohms. Flavor of course is outstanding.

(not the prettiest coil, but i believe in full disclosure :p)
And we can't forget.......#cloudsbroclouds haha

5 loop & 7 loop vertabraids are 32g N80
Twisted Claptons are 32g/40g N80 helixed w/ 30&32g N80
Aliens are of misc. core sizes, 26-30g all wrapped with 36g N80
Most of these builds are 2.4mm inner diameter and ohm out between .12-.20 ohms.
Also-my cat made my macro lens disappear, so forgive the inconsistent photo quality. I now have to hold a magnifying glass in front of my phone to take these. Yeah. Fun. Haha :p

Look for an OLLOCLIP for your phone. 4 in 1 clip on lenses. Wide angle, fisheye, 10x and 15x macro. I picked one up last weekend and went from zooming in on a photo and cropping to get close ups and losing resolution:

To being able to capture crisp, clear macro shots with out any fuss:

I've seen those, the photos they produce are gorgeous! A bit pricey for me at the moment, but i've definitely had my eye on them! I picked up a good one at photojojo.com, but i think my cat disappeared it haha. Your shots are gorgeous though!

Thanks! I know the budget thing all too well. The only reason I bought it was Best Buy contacted me with the use it or lose it for my card. I have been working damn hard to get my credit rating back up over 750 and didn't want a 40+ point hit for a closed account. I used the 2 years same as cash financing option on a $79 gadget and get to keep my card open!

Forgot to add, yours are too. Especially if using a magnifying glass. And your coils... With my fumble fingers I can only imagine how much wire I'll waste to get such artistry. I have only just now mastered the basic Clapton and have a trash can full of jumbled wire messes totaling several hundred feet of Kanthal to get there.

Great for a first attempt! I didn't even bother to create a coil from my Clapton attempts until after about 200 feet had been wasted. After 600+ feet I finally got it and can get consistent results.

Quick question for the more experienced coil twisters and whatnot...
Can I have a couple few recommendations for an atty to build these coils on.
Obviously I need something with bigger holes and thicker posts.
Thanks in advance.

doge, dark horse or twisted messed.
Saw the Alliance RDA (Fogwind) but havent tried it yet. has promise.

AND... thanks guys for posting while i was getting my beauty sleep.
It was a terrible day of failed coil builds, wasted wire, a painful crown on a molar, and thunderstorms. Yuck.

SEXY, i hate that i love the alien so much, cause i fincally decided to try some anarcist and bought some 26g qand 20g, and i will be being more becasue the alien with all three cores anarcist is beyond greatness and the hype is real, IMO

in response to other replys this the macro lens i use, less then 10 bucks and works great

im waiting on my replacement petri deck, i ordered one last week from vapordna, got it, dissasembled it, grinded down the post hole divider real quick because it was the v1 and the holes arnt big enough, and when i went to reassemble, the female threads on the positive post werent catching, but DOTMOD is sending me a v1.5 deck, so it's all good, just need patience, haha

I disassembled it to grind out those middle sections so that i wouldnt put anystress on the threads cause i already knew the metal is so soft it doesnt take much, but it didnt matter

For me i often have to take toothless pliers and give em a squeeze after the first few wraps, they usually stay put after that. Also it helps to tape both ends together as well

Yall are to damn good at building. I do good to make a fused clapton. Tried alien wire three different times and keep messing it up bad. I'm gonna revisit it later today and see how it goes

Now THIS is a helpful tip! Thank you coil master, sincerely coil grasshoppa
No problem haha, masking tape works real well. Use as little as you can-enough to hold em together but not enough that it weighs too much. Otherwise it will get all twisty on ya :D

Sorry for delay... i think it is a RIGID... cordless power drill with speed adjustment and three tooth keyless chuck.

Certain it is ME and not the drill causing error. Probably squeezing lead wire too much and going too fast.

I get 2 inch sections without flaw and BAM i mess up.... ugh. Unfortunately with the alien wire there is no going back and unwrapping flaws.

I did it once.. i will get it right again soon

(I also do the tape on both ends)

nah... save the 12 bucks and just get a good drill and needle nose pliers. Works for me.
Twisting is rather simple imo. I always straighten wire first... makes them line up parallel before i twist them.
Seems to help

Yes, I do use a drill and needle nose pliers.
I was just checking to see if this tool was something that could be beneficial in some way.
All in all my drill will keep me busy :D

Tossed a pair of arched claptons in the Freakshow Mini. Dual 5 wraps was .15 ohms. 3x 30g cores, 32g arches. Just trying to find ways to enjoy this atty. I want so bad to love it haha. Not unhappy at all with this build, incredible flavor, stupid huge clouds. I was surprised by the heat factor on these. I was expecting both the vapor and the atty to be much hotter, but it's perfectly warm. These coils are kinda big for the freakshow (almost as long as the air holes) but it isn't getting hot on me at all. Definitely a rainy day build, a little time consuming in comparison to the results. Might give em a try with 28 or 26g cores next time. A great vape for sure, but just a little too time consuming. I still have enough to wrap two more coils, and i hammered em even flatter so i'll see if they look any prettier when i build em. Cheers!

i was surprised at how the arched clapton vaped. Better than the staggered clapton for some odd reason.
I guess all those nooks and crannies help.

Onward and upward... still searching for the PERFECT combination of wire types, gauges, coil diameter, wraps, wicking material, wattage, vg ratio, mod, and rda. The search never ends.

Much better set of Arched Claptons in the Twisted Messes RDA. Still 3x 30g/36g N80 but hammered much flatter. Again, forgive the lens distortion, the photo setup was a little crazy to snap some of these haha. Anyways, these vape amazingly. Flavor is a little "scratchier" than with the aliens, but they definitely seem to kick out a bit more vapor. Flavor is outstanding. Everything is just a bit cooler, vapor is still pleasantly warm, but the atty does not get hot (nor does the mod) as it does with alien coils.

And they are still pretty damn clean after a full day of vaping on them. Most coils (aside from aliens) would at least be all blacked out by now:

i sure appreciate all the posts. Thanks. I always find it cool to see what others are coming up with.

Two thoughts... do any of you discard the wires you make when you find a flaw (or more than one)? Maybe I am OCD but when i can see a flaw i dont want to use it. I just keep trying until i get it right.
Other... have any of you been playing around with mixes of nickel and titanium (or any other combination) for temp control builds?

Been a while since i rocked a single coil build. This build is beastly. Vapor production rivals a car fire. Flavor is exceptional, though not the best ever. Fun, quick build to get me through my Monday tomorrow :p

Well I started out using my Porter Cable 12V I got as a Christmas present that came as set with a circular saw, saw-zall, and flashlight, but the chuck where the three meet it has a hole so they do not touch, sometimes beneficial, sometimes pain in the ass, but ive gotten used to it and learned to adapt, and I just bought a new drill from my MAC tool man that comes to me and my dads shop, 12v real lil guy that still spins at 1500rpm which is necessary if you ask me, but it has a 3/4 chuck and its chuck is similar to the porter, but its not as big obviously and the tips of the teeth are flat not round and have two small grooves, now the 3 core wires for the alien would stay together easier and not be prone to overlapping if it was put into a chuck without the gap so all the wires are being tightened down on, I've had times where they won't overlap and stay put and i can get up to speed but there are other times when that bitch starts pushing the middle wire up and i have to stop every half inch and squeeze and once it starts it seems to be on a mission to ruin my day, idk how yours is but i may be buying another chuck to try out and see what happens, anything to make things easier, but the other things ive learned from aliens, and a phrase my Drill Sergeant said whilewe were doing urban ops in basic training comes to mind "Slow is smooth, Smooth is fast" to slow is bad for me and too fast is being impatient which usually doesnt work out to my benefit, fused, regular clap., any other wire i can max that drill out and just go, but i found that half throttle on the drill with the alien is perfect once i get my hand and finger placement right, and she just catches, tried getting used to wrapping counterclockwise and still wrapping the first clapton clockwise as i always do, but wrapping the first clapton counterclockwise has helped, but i go back and forth and cant decide, the wire feeding over top instead of from underneath lets me use my fingers in a way im used to but it still takes a touch either way

Built these buddies.
3x 26g Aliens paralled w/ 24g all Nichrome 80. Unfortunately they clocked in a little too low at .10 ohms. A little out of my comfort zone on a single 18650 (38 amps @ 3.8v)
When i get my parallel box back from repairs (again) i will certainly revisit this build. Fired up instantaneously and i can only imagine the performance. The stuff if dreams! Hehe :p

i would be curious what wire gauge (and type of wire) combination will be above .10 in dual.

Looks great. still havent mastered this coil. The three wires want to bunch on me. Ugh

I've built dual 28/36g aliens that clock in at .23 for a buddy. I believe it was dual 6 wraps around a 2.4mm bit.
Question: are you wrapping the original clapton backwards?? I missed that bit of info the first few tries and was wondering why i couldn't get anywhere. A few people who've had trouble did the same thing. The original clapton has to be wound opposite of the stretched clapton wire. Otherwise maybe you're stretching the wire too far? I'm just trying to think what might be giving you the troubles! If you can try and post a pic of the stretched clapton wire, i wanna see if maybe you're doing it differently than i do, maybe i can help point you in the right direction if i can! :p

Alien-cat track (ish).
Triple 28g cores/32g outer. All nichrome 80, flattened with a jeweler's hammer.
Pretty rockin' single coil. Lots of surface area for just 4 wraps. Clocks in at .12 around a 2.4mm bit.
Flavor is very acceptable. Vapor production is immense, both considering just a single 4-wrap build.

I do the reverse direction Clapton and stretch like video tutorial then wrap the other direction. I think I am just causing too much wire tension and making core bunch. And likely just rushing process.

One of my favourite to build lately. There is something satisfying to me about the majority of the wire being made by hand without a drill.

Finally getting these Aliens down, got enough wire for duals this time at least.
Spaces still bug me, but they're getting better.
3x26gA1/36gKPN80 0.11ohm

Finding out less tension on the alien clapton is better than more. Once you get it going the wraps just kinda fall into place, and you just have to go with it and try to keep the spacing correct. I also find taping the 3 ends that go into the chuck of the drill helps to keep it aligned until you get into the groove of the wraps.

Tech Tip. I'm starting to like the Coil Master. Bought the cheap on F.T. has 6.00 or so. Can't grip the damn thing. Solution: Handle Bar tape for serious bicycle riders. Get it online. Works great, Works on tube Mods also. ;)

Dunno how advanced this is but also, a word of warning I blew my coil up on a regulated device. Here is the carnage, also check your clearances to the wall of your tank.

Alien/Fused Clapton Parallel PARTY TIME! Hehe, whipped these babies up today, trying to get a feel for the vise grip/fishing swivel setup. Regardless got enough good wire to drop these in. Hot damn they're delicious!! Killer performance, flavor is bonkers. Vapor is definitely of a satisfying amount.
Duals clocked in at .095, around a 2.4mm screwdriver.
Aliens- 3x 30g core/36g wraps
Fused clappies-2x 32g core/36g wraps.
All nichrome 80

Very nicely. No ramp up time, extremely flavourful, and a warm dense vape how I like it. I'm going to revisit this again for sure.

sorry i have been away and hadnt posted. i had to drive to oklahoma to visit my dad. he had a heart attack. 14 hour drive. ugh.

Thanks all for posts.

I got a velocity while away. tonight i did a quick fused clapton... 24g Ni80 and 24g Ka1 wrapped with 36g Ni80 and 36g Ka1. 5 wraps on 3mm. .11ohms in dual mode.

I love the ramp up time and the mix of the wires makes for great flavor and cloud.
