I'm interested in starting to DIY my ejuice and am looking through threads and articles on the subject to get a good picture of it in my head and not be caught off guard (as much as possible).

Is there any feedback you can give me about purchasing a Vapin Viper DIY starter kit....good product? Bad product? Ability to grow with me as I develop?

Are there other kits that you might suggest?

Also, are there articles or sites that you think have trustworthy information regarding beginning DIY?

Thanks, in advance, for your help!

Honestly, it will probably be cheaper to just buy stuff individually. Better prices when you buy bulk... IMO
I always use a new syringe when making a new joose, I also use a lot of VG, bottles, and of course nicotine. Bit it all depends on how much are you planning to make.

I have to agree, it's probably cheaper getting individual items.

I switched from utilizing syringes for mixing, to utilizing a scale. For VG and PG, I'm using those cheap bottles from Walmart, that are made for squeezing ketchup and mustard. For one of my flavors, and nicotine base, I have to use a syringe. However, the rest of my flavors is from Flavour Art (FA) and those have dripping tops. Mixing by weight is also faster, than mixing by volume.

For experimenting/creating new ejuices, I use small 15ml bottles that have a dripper, and make 10ml mixes. That leaves me some room for adjusting flavors. Otherwise, I have several 60ml/2 oz. and 120ml/4 oz. bottles. All bottles are made of glass, and blue or brown for UV protection.

In addition, I'm utilizing a ultrasonic cleaner with build in heater for steeping. However, I also clean new atomizers with it as well.

You can find some links here in this sub forum, where to purchase your items from.

Thanks @gerardgallegos. I'm not too sure how much to even start with. ... I'm thinking I don't want to buy large quantities yet, until I find products that I like. Does that make sense??

No problem! Bit VG I would highly suggest getting like a gallon! And you extracts I'm like 10ml-15ml samples. VG is highly affordable

The basic stuff (PG, VG, Nic, Bottles, Syringes etc) is all about how much you want to invest at first. I would caution you to be very careful about flavor ordering. This is where you can WAY overspend. If you've spent any time at all on the recipe section, you will see that the vast majority of us use Flavourart and many of us use just about all of HIC's recipes. There are many other places on the net to find recipes using other flavor companies but on here you will mostly get the best info on FA. If you want to order sample sizes of FA, your best bets are purevapes.com and Mama J's. Don't have the link but it's posted just about everywhere so it won't be hard to find. Go through recipes to see what might appeal to you and start your DIY that way. If you just end up posting a thread that says "What's the best strawberry??" or "Here's a list of what I have..what can I make??"....it won't be very helpful for you. Welcome and good luck! :)

Thanks@soulshine. I'll definitely keep that in mind. I thought I might just start out with one or two flavors (single and combination) to get the basic process down and become comfortable with it. That's what I'm thinking now....but after checking out the recipes here.... that might change. :)

Hi vengar.me. When I first started DIY I was a bit intimidated by all of the talk of scales, ultrasonic cleaners and such. I understand that they are more accurate forms of measuring and help with steep time, but when you're brand new and don't know if you'll stick with it, it's just overwhelming. So here's what I did and maybe that will help you get your feet wet. I saved my bottles from liquids I was buying before I even attempted DIY. This saves you the expense of ordering bottles. I also ordered 1 ml syringes because they're about $0.50 each so that was not that bad. I threw a few in my shopping cart. I picked out 2 or 3 recipes (yes, mostly HIC's) and ordered the FA Flavorings that I needed to make only those. Then, I ordered my PG, VG and Nic from Wizard Labs because they also sell measuring equipment. I bought a graduated cylinder over there and a funnel. I think all told I spent under $100 for everything. I want to say it was actually closer to around $86.00. I figure I'd have spent that on liquid anyways so if I got at least a month's worth of liquid out of that deal, then I'd break even. Anyways I wish you lots of luck in your DIY adventure. It sure is fun :)

Thanks for the input, Serenity. That's a great idea about saving my current bottles....I'll definitely do that. What did you use to clean them out....regular dish soap and water??

Yes, I washed them out with antibacterial dish soap and used one of those brushes meant for baby bottles. I boiled the glass bottles to sterilize them. I didn't boil the plastic ones. Running them through the dishwasher would probably work just as well.

@vengar.mv, it makes sense but a gallon of VG will come out more affordable and you will use all of it, you almost cannot have too much VG
