Which DIY Flavorings Should Never Be Mixed?

Is there any combination of flavorings that are just proven to fail and not mix well together? Just getting into DIY and got a bunch of TFA flavorings. I know this question might be a no brainer for the DIY experts here, but for the newbie what would you guys suggest should never mix?

About anything I'm mixing lately tastes like total shit.....really. Trying to get in a better frame of mind for mixing and step back and take deep breath. I keep looking at all this good sounding stuff and mixing it within reason but it tastes horrible, ok sorry I snuck that in I'm in a bad DIY mood tonight:)

Flavors I have had issues mixing or using(besides all of them lately) cherry is a tough one, red velvet cake smells amazing but tastes like poo, I can't for the life of me figure out any chocolates....

Salt water taffy seems pointless but maybe I just don't know how to use it, honestly I would love to pick apart a mixologists mind for an evening with all the flavors I have. I keep ordering more and I have no clue how to mix them.....

Anyway it's fun just discouraging lately:(

I hear you man, Im in the same boat. I thought DIY would be a great way to save on money, and Im sure it is, I just haven't got the knack of it yet. I bought all these flavors from TFA thinking of all the endless combinations of flavors I could make, and didn't realize how hard making my own recipe would be. I never expected them to taste this shitty. I've also gone by the recipes posted on here for Tongue Fuck and Peanut Butter, and they've been steeping for 5 days. I gotta say the taste does improve over a few days, but still doesn't taste like anything I would buy if I were to try it in a vape shop.

Its frustrating making all these mixes and having them come out so sub par. It is discouraging, but Im going to keep at it until I find something I like. Ive only been mixing for 6 days, so I know I need to give it chance and see what I can create. I just didn't expect it to be like this.

I ordered "Game Over" from Mama J's which Ive only heard rave things about, Im hoping I can use it as a standalone. "Game Over" is highly praised on here by a lot of the veterans, so Im hoping when I get it in the mail in a few days that it reignites my enthusiasm for DIY.

The help and advice Ive gotten on this forum is awesome though. Next time I get paid will try to go off of HIC's tried and true recipe's.

Honestly, all I wanted to come up with a "Cereal Milk" by Kilo type of clone. The Fruit Circles from TFA is def like Pine Sol, but the harshness wears off some after a few days.

I just tried to make a Fig Newton juice with TFA Fig and nearly gagged. It's a sickly sweet, adulterated version that tastes nothing like fig to me. I get nothing but rotten fruit from it.

@Discobob @JTR

Don't lose faith :) I've been messing with DIY for about 4 months now and I think I'm finally getting close to posting a couple of my own recipes that I think are worthy for sharing. I'll know in about a week or so after some more aging of the mixes. I've made some that are decent, but not something I would share and be confident in most people liking them. It takes a lot of patience and is time consuming to create something on your own when at first you have no experience with the multitude of flavorings. Aging, or steeping as most call it, is the thing that takes the most patience. Depending on the mix, the flavor of a juice can change dramatically after 3 days.....a week....a couple of weeks, etc...etc. So that part REALLY sucks, but it's the nature of mixing. I have mixed recipes that others have come up with that are very nice and have vaped those while learning on my own.

I gave up on Cherry, Strawberry, Raspberry, and Chocolate early on when starting DIY, just too frustrating.
Later I tried some FA Chocolate + FA Cocoa recipes from here, and finally got some good Chocolate Vapes.
Red Velvet Cake just plain sucks IMO, it's not just you.
I've had better success with TFA Blueberry Wild & VZ/FE/FW Blackberry Custards, well at least I like them better.
FA Lemon Sicily, Lime, CAP Orange Creamsicle, FW Cinnamon Roll, FA Coconut, FA Cookie, FW Butter Pecan, & FW Hazelnut have been good to me also.
Helps to have some good ones to vape on whilst you experiment with the others...

This is a great one with chocolate by chickenmonkey:

if you haven't already, try it at a low % (1-3). It's one of their stronger flavors. It also seems to be better to me after a couple days.
I'm down to 2%. All I can taste is a sickly banana. I just don't think it's the flavor for me. I have FA banana in my wishlist for my next order. TFA Banana seems to stay cloudy and weird even after 2-3 weeks. It's freaking me out man!

Yeah. To me, it's much better to add it at like .5-1% in a recipe for a fuller banana flavor. FA banana is great. Often, I get good results from combining 2 or 3 different bananas (or strawberries, whatever fruit) together for a complete profile. I'm still figuring all this out too. As you see more and more recipes, you'll get an idea of how things like banana ripe can be used. I use this http://e-liquid-recipes.com/flavors to look up flavors and check out how people are using them in their recipes. it can be tricky to figure out how the flavors are listed there. TFA flavors can also be listed as tpa, so for example, to find ripe banana, you'd have to search ripe banana tpa

@Discobob I wonder if you could do a taffy/anise/black licorice blend for a Good 'n' Plenty candy-style vape...

Haha, I don't know if I'd vape it, not really a fan of black licorice, but hey, couldn't hurt to try I guess.

Or maybe another candy clone, Cow Tails, they're like a caramely chewy exterior around a creamy sugar filling.

Taffy
Caramel
Vanilla
Cream fresh
Marshmallow?

I dunno, maybe?

That actually sounds pretty damn good. I really need to get some darker flavors like caramel.

FA Caramel is great, but damn it's potent. Don't need much to get the flavor across. FA Jamaican rum, vanilla classic, and espresso are a few of my favorite darker, more rich flavors. They go well with fruits/creams/tobaccos, so there's a lot of combos possible.
