Arduino vape

I've seen a few builds here and there using an Arduino microcontroler. Anyone here made on? I have an Arduino uno and a micro to play with. I already have a sled for a single 18650 and a few extra cells.

So I saw a post from claviger about an open source arduino mod he was building, can see it on Google search, but not through tapatalk.

@f1r3b1rd has done some work with an Arduino microcontroler, hopefully he will chime in here.

Hiya!! I have worked with arduino's and have a few here. But, its mostly been tying them into sensors, actuators and motors. I know its more than doable, cloudmaker is 'basing' their design on arduino (from what I understand talking to Jeremy).. to be honest I've never considered doing one, I don't know why, but I could kick myself now, loll
I'll definitely start exploring it though!!!! That would be killer!!!

If anyone does an arduino build, please document and share the process. :D I hope you will consider making the code open source too! I'm sure that there are a lot of folks that would be interested in a project like this.

Interesting .. looks awesome!!!! Also wanted to show you this

not sure if you're looking to build one from scratch for fun from the ground up, or are you moreless looking to fiddle with the programming?
If its the latter there is an open source mod on the works, and the price isn't too terrible considering its overall potential. The whiteout, that I was referring to has there 'os' mod, which should be out soon will have multiple options from a modular aspect.

Lmao!!! Would be damn cool! Personally I would like to see something where the user can decide if the want 70w with 1 18650 or 150w with two in parallel or a lipo pack. I'm digging the size possibilities with available power of a lipo.
But I know a lot of people are uncomfortable there.

Looked like a Lipo pack was being used. Need someone with a bit more electronic expertise than me to help out a bit.

Lol what would you need help with? I'm a little rusty being behind an it desk, but I'll find my way, loll
And @Zamazam is a genius

Well I think I can figure out the basics, need to sit down and look at parts list, schematic, etc to make sure I understand it all.

Well helllo :)

I have my Arduino/OKL2-T20 mod sitting here next to me. It collects dust now, and never gets used.

There are some issues with Arduino and controlling mods, though, I am not going to detail them here.

It will work fine for non TC control, super simple. Adding things like live reading of resistance, amps, etc add more circuitry and code of course, though it is very viable, as I did it back in I think May of 2014.

I am holding my experiences and undisclosed limitations of the Arduino platform for mod control until the Ares chip is released to the public. I really want to see how Whiteout get around a core issue that, thus far, no one has mentioned anywhere that I have seen, nor is any Arduino currently on the market capable of solving :)

OH ... and there is a postage stamp sized arduino based device if you are looking for the smallest one available that will suite a mod perfectly. It is TINY! I bought one before finding the rock wall limitation to Arduino that I could not resolve and never did another Arduino mod because of the issue.

Find it here: http://femto.io/

Concerning batteries:

I used a Lipo because the DC to DC converters that I found suitable for a vape device were all incapable of running efficiently off of a single 18650 and providing good power. Lipo was chosen because i was trying to keep the device small, and 2x18560 + sled + contacts + wire etc added more space requirements than a single 2S2P Lipo did. I really hadn't considered using Ti/SS wire at that time so the ability to do both buck and boost was limiting selection of converters that would work. As a result I just went buck only and started from 7.4 volts so I could still hit high power with a coil made of Kanthal A1.

These days, using a SS coil and a single 18650 would open up the field of selection for DC to DC converters a bit and work just fine.

EDIT: BE WARNED THAT CODE HAS ERRORS IN IT. THE SCHEMATIC ALSO HAS ERRORS IN IT.

I have currently. With the release of the more recent chips, I don't see Arduino can bring anything to the table more advanced than the DNA200 or SX350J/M can.

If arduino not suited for TC but works ok in VW mod... Maybe because arduino analog input (10bit I think) not very precise for R measeure? (I'm developer and not electronics engineer) :)

For me arduino or espruino or maybe Chip (LoL - PV with WiFi, screen and keyboard) mod it's possibility to make something unique and personal.
