Kangertech Subox Mini Keeps Leaking - Both of them!

Hi

After using Nicolites for about two years, I ventured into the brave new world of "proper vaping". I started out with the rather common pen like e-cigs that you can get for about £15-£20. Worked well for about a week but then it started having problems (despite it having full battery etc, hardly any vape). So I decided to get more serious.

I recently bought one of the new Kangertech SubBox Mini e-cigs, brand new, from an e-cig outlet in Nottingham for £69. The first was the black and red one. Used it "as it came", out of the box, and was really pleased it for about two days, then it started to leak from the air-holes. The leaking got worse and I did some Googling. Checked seals, checked tightness, increased and decreased wattage. Still leaked.

So I took it back, and the shop exchanged it for another - the white one. He said that cleaning them usually helps stop leaking, but I explained it was brand new! And I pointed out that it was a £70 so should really not have faults! So he exchanged it.

Got home, and within a few hours, that was leaking too.

I am sick of it. It's enough for me to think about just quitting the whole thing, which can't be a bad thing I guess.

Are these things supposed to leak? Two brand new ones can't both be broke. So what am I doing wrong?

This is a tough one because so many factors can cause a leak..Its not really an un common problem even with tanks costing much more money.

Viscosity of the juice.
How it was wicked from the factory.
How well the seals work from the factory.
Is the coil properly tightened inside the base?
Did you over prime the wick before use?
Was it laying on its side?

There are more possible causes but its not likely a single tank never experiences a leak of some sorts.

Its a learning process..unless you have patience it can be very frustrating before the issue or issues are solved.

Maybe take it back to the store and ask them to see why it may be leaking and let them try to fix the problem.

Don't give up on vaping yet...

That tank you have is really bad about leaking. I don't think I've ever heard of a subtank owner that has ever NOT had to deal with the leaking. I have an Aspire Atlantis which has none of these problems... there are many that don't leak AND that will work with your Kanger Box mod...

My subtank mini has never leaked a drop since the day I bought it around 7 months ago & it's used daily. I don't use the prebuilt heads though, I build my own coils on the RBA deck and no issues whatsoever.

my son and i both own subtanks, neither has leaked a drop. i wonder if you're getting clones

I've owned one for about 6 weeks. Leaked once very little out of the airholes, but I think it was because before putting a new coil on, I washed out the cap the coil screws into and didn't try it well enough. Other than that I've had no issues. Like others have said, check to see if it's a clone.

Hi all

I changed the coil from the high voltage one to the lower voltage one and it leaks less than it did and the device works much better (until today, but that's a different matter for a new thread). I noticve it leaks if you vape on it at an angle. But if it's kept upright, it's OK.

I saw a problem similar to what you're describing, just the other day. On a new unit also.

Check your seal around your coil. That's where this guys issues started. Also make sure there's not a burr around the hole, cutting the seal as you put it on.

I've got 2 SS minis. I run a 20/80 mix and have had occasional minor leaking. I pull all the seals, toss it the sonic cleaner and then re assemble. I've used the colored replacement seals and nothing gotten worse.
Leaving the tan k on it's side to long can cause leaking or inverted, sometimes I'm lounging on the couch and I vape with my rig slightly inverted, over tightening could cause trouble by crushing the seals, mfg. imperfections in the seals or the seal seats. You might try some new seals, they cost between $1-$3 depending where you get them.
