BEST PLACE TO START WITH LEARNING ABOUT BATTERIES

BatteryUniversity.com is written for the professional user who needs a basic understanding of battery behavior. It also served the ordinary user who wants to get the more life out of a pack. The website stresses the strengths and limitations of the battery, explains different battery types and provides useful hints in choosing a battery. The website is easy and entertaining to read and makes minimal use of technical jargon. BatteryUniversity.com addresses only commercially available batteries and only mentions new developments in passing. Since my background is electrical, I tackle batteries from the electrical side and less on chemical reaction.
Lithium-based Batteries YOU WILL FIND great info on maintaining battery life and treatment of batteries

you will learn through out here the difference in naked batteries and sealed batteries.
How they work and safety to avoid explosions if possible as batteries can vent and explode.

For those of you who are looking into moving into Mechs and RBA's especially. BatteryUniversity.com is the go to site to get information... If you have a quick question pertaining to Mechs and RBA's though do not hesitate to come over to the builders corner either at Builders Corner General Discussion

Just a bit of seldom mentioned advice. Never, under any circumstances, should one fill the voids in a mech mod with gunpowder as this could produce: undesirable after effects. It also shouldn't be substituted for liquid in an RBA. Any tank for that matter.

Battery University is a great place to get answers to anything battery related.

The only thing I can add is that IMHO having a really good battery charger is a must for any vaper.

Skimp on High Priced E-Liquids but not a charger.

And I don't care that the manufactures say that they cut off when the battery is charged.

I have my own charger right where I can see it and I take my batteries off the instant they are showing a full charge.

I was also told a while back to charge 800 mAh batts at 0.25 amp, anything less than 2,000 mAh at 0.5 amps and over 2,000 mAh at 1.0 amp.

Charger is everything. I use a 65.00 charger to charge a 8.00 battery. Shumaker car charger goes down to 3.V. Not like those China Chargers. It is better for me, I like to watch numbers. I charges 16 18650's at a time. I never run out. 8 26650's at once. Got to make it happen.

I could not agree more that we should all be getting the best batteries and chargers we can find. The problem is that there are an increasing number of clone batteries hitting the market and they are getting harder and harder to spot. I buy my VAPE stuff from a lot of different places but will only purchase batteries from trusted sources and although I'm always looking for a good deal and out to save money whenever possible I am always willing to spend a little more for batteries to ensure a little piece of mind. As far as chargers are concerned, just like everything else there are lots of choices but for the money I like the Nitecore Intellichargers. They are fantastic chargers and won't break the bank. Their 4 port model is perfect for me to make sure that I always have charged batteries ready to go. Of course your mileage may vary. NOTE for new Vapers - This post is in regard to removable batteries for Mechanical Mods and Regulated Devices. Although battery safety is important for all Vaping the EGO style batteries are something different and can't use the Nitecore Charger and instead usually have their own USB charger that comes with it. Again, its always a good idea to buy your "EGO Style" batteries from a trusted source (These are cloned all the time as well) and always use safe charging practice when charging any battery.

I been iseing old laptop battery's but I also don't drive them hard . I also use a kick to prevent any damage to them and use a nitecore d2 to check and charge them . not the best setup but it works . I can't afford good battery's right now so I have to do it this way .

Can you give us a link, for us newer people that are starting to get away from devices like the MVP, I love my MVP2s but just want more of a variety, and have the spinners and such, but I am starting to look into better mods.

Though I didn't write that post, I am curious what link you may need.

To some of the reliable vendors that he or she purchases batteries from.

Also, this may sound like a really dum question, but I assume you need a button top battery if you are using one bigger battery in a mod, or one of each, flat and button if using stackables. I assume they are like every other kind of battery in that aspect, okay guys go ahead and make fun of me now! Lol

Oh, for competitive prices and strong credibility, I go with http://www.rtdvapor.com/batteries/. There are a plethora of other places, obviously, but that's been a go-to in this industry for a while. The only places that I would strongly caution against is ebay (at least for batteries). See my post #10.

You're fine. No, you don't "need" a button top battery. Sometimes you will, but most (mech) mods have adjust-ability to compensate for any size differences. No need to stack -- though I am sure some people still do.

Ha! I just realized it's my b-day. LOL. Well, off to bed -- it 's so lame getting "old"! I used to be partying on my b-day, now I just want to get a good night sleep. hahaha

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! And thanks for your patience with my questions @Mr.Mann. Okay, I have a vamo v5 coming, and thought I would order an extra battery, so a flat top one will work? I went to look at them and didn't realize I had to choose. I figured I would need the button top.

Recently got an Xtar VP2 charger direct from the manufacturer's website. Couldn't believe how much nicer this thing is then the trustfire POS I was using. Flat tops work in my Vamo v3. Currently using LG 18650 2500mah higher amp that works fine in my Vamo, Kamry K100 and now Cloupor 30 watt box.

Thanks, @Damwow.

@travanx, the Xtar VP2 is suhweet. I got a VP1 and don't quite have the need for a VP2, but that line (VP1/VP2) are my favorite chargers. If they had a 4 bay in that category it would be a wrap! The Efest Luc 4bay would be my next fav and then the Nitecore, but I love being able to slowly charge batteries, especially smaller-capacity batteries, with the .25A setting.

You would actually be better off with a flat top for the Vamo. I have a V2 and 2 V5, I use Panasonic CGR18650CH and NCR18650PF in mine. The latter is the better of the two, IMO.

This video demonstrates an example of an Unsafe coil build and the dangerous conditions the use of such coils represents. The battery Vents at the end of this video.

Phil Busardo posted this video of the aftermath of a 26650 Battery Venting (Explosion) Event caused by Unsafe Vaping Practices that occurred at the VapeBlase 2014 Texas Cloud Chasing Contest Event.

I buy my batteries from Orbtronic.com. Since I only use Vamo v5's,I run the orbtronic pd 2900 hybrid imr's.I have some that are going on a year old,and still running strong.I also use an xtar vp 1 charger. This is what I buy my kids, and grandkids to get them off of analogs.Maybe a bit spendy, but much safer then usb rechargables, and my kids are worth it.;)

Hi there. The Vamo V5 was my first but I must warn you. Never carry it in your pocket or purse. I carried it in my pocket and I can no longer screw atomizers on it
