IPV D2 vs Evic mini

Hello all,

I recently posted a thread about getting into temp control and my interest in the S-Body Macro. Well yesterday while I was at the shop and had the chance to fondle both the Evic and IPV and was thoroughly impressed. I had always wanted the Evic vt because of the cool race car look but that toggle switch was a total deal breaker. While I'm still not crazy about the menu on the Evic, it's an improvement by leaps and bounds.

I currently own a IPV mini 2 which I absolutely love but with a tank and 18650, it's quite the beast when it comes to lugging around all day. While the D2 is heavy, it feels really well made and sturdy. I also like the menu setup, even the memory function a lot of people seem to dislike. The prices are in the same ball park but the Evic gives you a tank I'll probably never use.

So what say the council? Is it the IPV or the Evic. Like I said I'll also be purchasing a new tank go go with the mod so tank suggestions (anything but the Kanger Subtank mini of which I now own three) would also be greatly appreciated

I'm carrying both of them, and so far, I like the D2 best. I have not had a chance to write my review on the eVic-VTC Mini yet, but I am somewhat underwhelmed by it. In some ways I like it better than the D2, but for an all day carry, the D2 just seems to perform a little better in areas that are important to me. There are a good number of people in opposition to my opinion, but I still think I would personally recommend the D2, at least so far.

Neither one is a bad mod though, and you won't go wrong with either of them (at least I don't think you will).

As for a tank, the Uwell Crown is all the rage right now in the Subtank Wars thread, but it seems to be followed closely by the Smok TFv4. I personally think that the Crown, at 22mm, would be a better fit (from a size perspective) on either of the 2 mods. The TFv4 will overhang the edges of the mods, even if only by a little bit. Again, personally speaking, I hate it when tanks overhang mods, it just doesn't look or feel right to me.

Good luck with your decision, HTH!

P.S. you can read my review of the D2 by following the link in my signature. Hopefully over the weekend I will be able to add the eVic-VTC Mini review as well.

You read my mind as I'm heavily in the D2 camp and taking a close look at the smok. Off to read your review now, thanks for the reply.

Thank you. No, I don't use the sleeve at all, makes getting the battery in and out too difficult. It would probably help with the battery door though, if you don't mind charging your battery in the mod. I've grown used to the battery door and it isn't too bad overall, although I do still have to squish it a little every few days or so to tighten it back up.

Excellent write up. The 4 cons you mentioned would bother me just the same but considering it seems to work real well, I could live with them. Do you use the rubber sleeve that's provided? If so, does that help with the battery door issue?
Thought I'd mention I leave the silicon sleeve on my D2..I live in a dusty environment and that silicon sleeve really helps to keep blowing dirt out of my mod, and it gives a good grip when my hands are sweaty... I go all day on a single charge vaping it off and on ...no issues with in-mod charging, fully charges under two hrs via supplied pin/USB cable to a 5v wall charger..had it offshore, in the desert and everywhere I go lately..its great..

Now you have a good review on the sleeve from someone who uses it. :)

After going to my local vapestore and handling the D2 many times, all it took was seeing the vtc mini once and I bought it. Everyone is different, but for me there is a noticeable build quality difference, easily seen by the battery doors and battery contacts. The screen quality is another one. You get 15 more watts with the D2 but i use my mods from 40-55 in power mode and in the vtc you have 60 watts available in TC mode. Anyways, people love both so you can't go wrong either way!

I bought the VTC Mini on sight too. I already have the VT (which I love), but the extra features added on to the VTC made it a must have for me. I actually use both still everyday. Now for tanks, a lot of people love the Crown. Me personally its been the Silo Beast for months as my "Riker" (star trek fans will get that one!). It takes its own, Atlantis V1 & 2, Triton, and Herakles coils as well as the Anyvape Sega Tank and Triton RBA coil heads.

Sorry for the gush fest.

Personally, I like the Starre Pro tank. It is very similar to the Magnus (for good reason) and it can be purchased cheaper than all the tanks mentioned so far.

I'm by no means a fanboi for any mod. As pointed out in post #3 above, there are quite a few people that disagree with me on the VTC vs. D2 question. Everyone has different opinions on what is best for them, but in my opinion the D2 edges out the VTC just ever so slightly in my mind. They are both good mods though, so I guess it boils down to what feels best to you, and economics. If they both feel great in your hand, then go with whichever is cheaper. LOL

Either way, they are both good and will serve you well with whichever one you get. Out of sheer curiosity, I'd be interested to know which way you decide, and why you went that way.

The VTC with a Super Tank Mini is great. I own both the D2 and the VTC and strongly prefer the VTC.

Well here's all 10 colors for the VTC!!
$1.08 each!

Beat that smacksy!
Oh , OK...
But I don't like waiting long on my vape mail! I want it and I want it now, you dig?? Got my sleeves in 3 days as opposed to 2-3 weeks on the long boatride from overseas...
Further, I don't order anything from China due to increased credit card fraud..and poor customer service..
And lastly I can afford to spend a few extra dollars here in my own country...
Maybe you can't... Lol

Oh I can afford it Spanky.... And you're right about supporting local, but they're ultimately coming from China anyway, so I'm still supporting American. Me!

How's that? Fast tech is in China, sleeves are made in China, ordering from fast tech is strictly China..
US Vendors buy from China, and resale them to us..its no big deal dude... I'm outa here..see ya

Sweet vapes probably employs 10 people and pays half of them under the table. I spend my money wisely, drive a Harley and a Ford, and employ 15 Americans legitimately and they support their families and our economy. Logic isn't malleable, logic is just broader than you see it.

Sorry to ruin the fun conversation about America vs China, but I made my choice and just ordered the evic. I figure I already have a IPV (not a temp control model) and might as well try something new. If I take to this whole temp control thing, I'll go big and ask Santa for the vapor shark I've been lusting over. I went with the full kit in black but will probably pick up a new tank sometime soon. Thanks for all the replies and advice.

That's a pretty bold accusation to make about sweet vapes without providing evidence. I thought you were outta here? I guess you felt it necessary to stop in one more time, toot your own horn and libel a company with a great reputation. Thanks for the lame attempt at derailing the thread. Now if you would be so kind, move along.

How about we leave this thread to what it was intended for?

Grats in the decision! I think you will be happy with it, the mod not the tank ;)

Congrats on the new mod! I think you will like the eVic, but you should consider buying a new tank right away, the eGo one mega just blows! I have tried the Ni and Ti coils, and neither of them is worth a damn. I am sorely disappointed with the vape quality from it. I've heard the CLR coils are tremendously better, but have not tried them yet. Maybe, just maybe, they will make the tank at least usable.

Thanks. I'm already tank shopping but will have to suffer with the stock tank for at least another couple weeks. I've been going a little vape crazy with my spending and my wife's eyes are about to roll out of her head.

Yeah, I feel your pain! Part of the reason I have such first hand knowledge on the eGo one mega is because I have no funds left for a new tank at the moment. My wife is not happy with the fact that I picked up 3 mods in less than a week. LOL

I went with the VTC mini over the Subox Nano. They are both priced about the same, $50, so the deciding factor was the nice screen & firmware upgrades. I already flashed to the latest but I don't see any new features so it was probably bug fixes. As mentioned by others, I am also bummed on the eGo ONE Mega tank. I initially used the nickel coil and it starting leaking. And yes, I kept checking to ensure the coil & base was tightened properly to the tank every time I refilled. I even exchanged the entire package with the seller and it leaked again! I spoke to my seller again and they said they would be happy to refund me. As I was packing it up to return I decided to try the titanium coil. So far for 2 days I haven't had a leak so the nickel coils are crap IMHO. I think the nickel coil o-rings aren't sealing properly. If I was (and still might if the leak happens again) going to return the unit, I would get the Subox Nano. I am looking at the SubTank Nano though! Check out Ecigarette Empire as they have very competitive prices, free shipping but most of all, excellent customer service!

The tank that cones with the vtc is not something id recommend. However, if you're interested in the kanger subtanks, they are notorious leakers. Loved mine, but hated dealing with how finicky it is.

Looks like juice is dripped into your mod via the fire button hole...also the batt display is dark...is this a fully charged batt?
Just was wondering is all...thx

Thats why when searching for solutions to my Kanger tank leaking i found countless threads and complaints of the exact same issue. Hogwash indeed. But, i'm sure its all user error. Funny how none if my other 5 tanks leaked due to user error.

The juice leaks from the tank's vent slot and drips down all over the mod. This particular time it leaked towards the fire button & screen. In the pic the battery was low but irrelevant because it leaked consistently with both nickel coil heads I've tried. But as I previously mentioned, since switching to the titanium coil it hasn't leaked yet.

Well... I for one found that some of the Kanger Subtank Minis came with defective glass o-rings which resulted in leaking. The problem was at the mold junction and a rubber ridge/fin was on the gaskets themselves. Other than that there were a few ocasional users that inadvertently left a coil o-ring behind and had two on, which resulted in leaking and a few ocasionally where a coil o-ring was missing which resulted in leaking. Other than the aforementioned I have no knowledge of any other causes of leaking issues with the mini.

It dawned on me today that I can just use one of my Subtank mini's instead of the stock leak machine. I've already purchased the appropriate coils in preparation.

Also, the only problems I've had with my Subtanks was at the beach. Sand and 100+ temps don't mix well with any tank. As far as I'm concerned, other than their easily chipped paint, the Subtanks are solid.

I don't have anything personally against kanger, in fact i loved my tank despite its tendency to leak. I had the subtank plus, had great flavor.
