New VaporShark rDNA30

It will rock with the Russian. Dependent on the build you put in....
I fully expect it to work amazingly with a Russian. I ordered the Russian not too long ago and I'm more concerned with the build quality of it. Judging from reviews it will be fine, but you never know.

I have a Kayfun and a Russian. The parts are interchangeable. The big difference is the airflow control, superior on the Russian.

I was about ready to pull the plug on one of these, love the size and apparent quality of construction. That was until I thoroughly read their web site.

120 day warranty?. Seems kind lame for an almost $200 mod. Even the Chinese are starting to give a 1 year warranty. If you check their repair service they are unable to repair or replace the DNA chip. They can replace everything else at a $25.00 fee which isn't too bad.

After the warranty period if you are unable to solder the wires to a new chip yourself, or have a friend to do it it's basically another Chinese throw away device.

I would expect a US company be able to make any repairs after the warranty period.

Yea, I was thinking about that too, but I´m from Denmark and if it breaks i´ll probably just buy another mod anyway because it would be a big fuss to send it to USA to get it fixed.

In Denmark everything has to have a 2 year warranty, so was surprised to see a US company only providing 120 days

I am so fucking jaloux!

I ordered it 15 days ago, but i haven't recieved it yet because vaporshark didn't put a reciept in the package so the danish customs doesn''t know the value therefore they have to send a letter to me asking me to send an email and they it takes 4 week days extra to process. I should get it early next week i hope!

My second day thoughts on my rDNA

rDNA.jpg

That's a REO Mini 2.1 on the left and a Infinite Magma Clone RDA topper on the rDNA. This dripper has the longest pin I have ever seen on my Vari but sits flush on my rDNA. Removed the door to insert my already charged vct4. That door and the "seal" looks darn good and I would rate the fit and finish as very very good. Actually a little tricky to remove the bat door since it's so "tight" which is a good thing. So far no issues with KF football team and my gaggle of drippers.

Saw a thought about a minor rattle with the +/- buttons. This aint a cell phone for gods sake. /lol With the shark skin on the device, you must shake it like mad next to your ear to hear a very very faint rattle and If it had not been mentioned in the thread I would not have noticed it. No way in hell the bat will rattle since as the other pic in this thread illustrates, it's a very very tight fit with beefy stainless steel clips. The tightest bat fit I have ever seen in a mod since no springs/magnets etc are used. Tested the charging overnight and it works fine. Tested builds from .8 OHM through 1.6 OHM and works fine. If 30 watts max works for you, then sell the kids, the house, the car, and get one while the sale discount is still live. Move over Mr. P3....you have competition. /lol

Me too... Well, today actually, just in time to get the coupon code :)! Figure the rDNA will be the perfect companion to my DNA (which I love a lot, but its battery can be less than ideal when pushing higher watts - it is perfectly acceptable in the 9-12 watt range, which is most of the time for me - but now there'll be no worries at all).

I have a chDNA tube mod now, but it's really heavy and long. Very uncomfortable to use. Looking forward to this small form factor :)

I ordered two of the small DNA 30s this weekend. I just wanted them for the very small size I guess. The problem is, my wife vapes so if I get me something, I go ahead and get her one as well because she will eventually take it away from me anyway, so the 15% really came in handy

I don't care for box mods in general, but these are so small. A friend of mine has both the DNA 30 and the rDNA 30, they are both a good size.

Ive been wanting an rDNA30 for WEEKS now. Finally saved up enough but since the rDNA is backordered at vaporshark until 8/26 I ended up grabbed one on eBay yesterday for $200, I'm tired of waiting, lol. Vaporshark had the black shark skins in stock so I grabbed one of those to. I'm wondering if I should put a clear wrap on it as well, not sure if its necessary but I'm very OCD about the finish of my devices. I actually have a clear kayfun 3.1 j-wrap that I never used so I might just cut out a piece to put around the 510 connection, with the shark skin that's really the only part I'm concerned with. Ive seen pics of peoples DNA30's with the shark skins & the only part that really gets scratched is around the 510 connection from screwing down atty's.

So what do you guys think would be the best battery for the rDNA30? I'm thinking either the VTC5 or possibly the Orbtronic PD2900. Since I probably won't be vaping below 1.5-1.ohm I think the 10A PD2900 should suffice, however I'm awaiting feedback from someone who's been testing it.

I should get mine monday, according to usps anyway. I like your idea about putting something under the atty to stop the surface from scratching. I think I'll try and come up with something today, so I'll be ready when it comes tomorrow. I also ordered 2 shark skins for it, so they should protect the rest. Regarding the batteries, I would be concerned about only 10 amps. The VTC5 is 2600 mah and that should be plenty to make it through the day. Plus when near a usb you could use the charge while vaping to help if needed.

J-Wraps & Vapor Skinz both have a custom wrap/skin option, so I'm sure either one of them could custom cut you a clear piece for around the 510 connection. Ive been thinking about this & just a round piece of wrap wouldn't be a good choice for around the 510 connection on the Vapor Shark's because of the airflow slots. 4 specifically cut pieces of wrap placed between the air flow slots around the 510 would be ideal, you won't need anything in the airflow slots because nothing makes contact down in there anyway. The 4 pieces should be cut out something like the example I made in the first attachment below & would be placed around the 510 connection, between the X airflow slots as shown in the 2nd attachment, just a crude example of what I mean.

Check out my previous post again, I added another attachment to better explain what I mean. I'm sure a clear tape would work, however a clear piece of vinyl, like a clear wrap, would be much more durable, wouldn't peel off as easy & would last longer, not to mention J-Wraps could probably custom make this for $10 or less. I think I'll hit them up & see what they say.

Yeah that is what I was thinking. You have a point about the shipping tape not being durable enough. Let me know what you find out.

If designed right it could work for many other box mods as well.

I was thinking about this problem, and the easiest solution is to put a thin plastic washer on the bottom of the atty. They could be made in different diameters depending on the size you need. Problem solved right?

My rDNA was supposed to ship on or before 8/21. But they went on backorder on the 21st. It was still showing processing. I wasn't expecting to see it for at least another week and a half. But......

Your item has left our acceptance facility and is in transit to a sorting facility on August 23, 2014 at 6:46 pm in MIAMI, FL 33155. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

Hopefully I will have it Tuesday. Just in time for a concert we are going to.

I got VapeMail.
err.gif

1st thought, this thing is SMALL and heavy for it's size. It had almost a full charge so I slapped my Nautilus on it, set the watts and vaped away. Then I stopped and asked myself what I do after any awaited purchase. Did this change my life in some magical way. Well no, no it didn't (it NEVER does) LOL Ok so back to reality. The fit and finish are perfect. The buttons are clicky and the lights light up. It vapes great and the size is just right. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I haven't put on either of my Sharky condoms yet but will in a bit. Right now I'm still admiring this lil beauty while vaping so much I'm getting dizzy.
vapor.gif

It's funny but I can't really remember how long I waited for it to come. I know a few are still waiting for yours, but trust me, your gonna love it when you see and use it.

I would heartily recommend this to anyone looking for a regulated mod. Will post a pic when I figure out how to with my phone LOL,

Got my rDNA today, YAAAY!

I ordered it Friday off eBay & got it today, so it was worth paying the extra $10 IMHO. This thing ROCKS! Got my Nautilus Mini w/BVC head on it & at 16W this puppy is giving my kayfun a run for its money. My only concern is that I got a couple "Week Battery" & "Check Battery" error messages when I first started vaping it. Its got the stock VTC4 with almost a full charge so I don't understand why I would be getting those warnings. I got the "Week Battery" warning twice & the "Check Battery" warning once & haven't seen em since. Anyone know what that could be about? I ordered a VTC5 for it on eBay yesterday, its 2600mAh & the more mAh's the better. Ive heard a lot of good things about the Orbtronic PD2900's in VV/VW mods but their out of stock everywhere. I want to give one of those a try & since I'll probably never go below 1ohm the 10A should suffice. I'll get one later & see how it compares to the VTC5. I tried to include some pics but it says their too large, I'll resize them later but for now hopefully this link will take you to my FB post: (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ModEnvy/permalink/693996424026131/)

I have my Nautilus on mine too and lovin it. Regarding the battery messages your getting, this is a known error with the real DNA boards and causes no harm, so just ignore them. Happy Vaping

Sorry to hear your waiting, but your gonna love it when it comes. Someone on another forum called them today and heard they will be filling remaining orders tomorrow. If yours did ship then it's probably like mine and usps didn't update the tracking info for a couple days then bam it was out for delivery.

Lucky me... never received a shipping email (or order confirmation), but low and behold I checked my mailbox today and there it was! So thanks to the lack of emails I have no idea how long it actually took to get here.

One issue out of the box - it wouldn't turn on :( - took the back off and had to bend out the little metal battery connection thingies - battery was quite loose in there, but now it fits snug and turns on :). Will be something I will check again in a week or two to make sure it was just a fluke.

First impressions - all good! It doesn't feel quite as solid as my small vaporshark somehow, but I can still easily tell there is a high quality box in my hand and it works just like it's supposed to.

Well worth the wait. Please pay attention to the batter polarity when replacing it. + to the bottom. If you don't, get out your wallet for a new one. This is NOT VaporSharks problem. The eVOLV board not having reverse battery protection is the culprit.

This rDNA is the best device I have ever used, HANDS DOWN! Ive been vaping this puppy (Nautilus Mini, BVC @ 2.ohm) since noon yesterday & it still has one bar on the battery meter, it just keeps going & that's with the stock 2100mAh VTC4. I have a 2600mAh VTC5 on the way & I was going to get a Orbtronic PD2900 to see how it compares but I honestly don't think I'll even need the extra 300mAh.
OK, I just took a few more vapes & now the last battery bar is gone but its still chugging along. What voltage does it cut off at? How does this device tell you the battery is dead? Does it give that "week battery" msg, does the light around the fire button flash or what? Also, I take it you can't actually turn this device completely off like an MPV, (besides taking out the battery of course), you can only lock it?

I agree with your assessment. Best I've used or heard of . Can't answer what happens when dead question. Only had it for a day and still plenty of battery left. Panasonic has their new 3400 mah 18650 out now too. Prolly last a week LOL.

A buddy of mine dropped his rDNA off a scaffold about 10 feet, and the same dead issue happened. The fall flattened out the battery connector. The carrier was probably a little rough with yours. His too was a easy fix, Just bent the tab on the connector out and its been going strong since.

Just knowing the rDNA will be mine makes me kinda hate the nemesis, haha. The button just kills me.
Just ordered two quartz tank from fastech and they are the chinese ones, am I screwed?
Kinda wish I had snagged a nana as well now that I'm getting a VS.

OK, now that my rDNA has a full day of use under its belt I think I can say everything is near perfect, as far as I can tell. It did take me a little while to get used to the increased size (compared to the smaller vaporshark dna, which has been my main device for over a month now), but ultimately this device is pretty small and fits in my hand very well. I do like the feel of the buttons better on the vaporshark dna, but there is nothing wrong with the rDNA’s buttons at all - I think this is what caused my previous comment that the rDNA doesn’t feel quite as solid somehow.

One small quibble - and this isn’t related to the rDNA itself but rather the sharkskin... it is much slipperier than my small vaporshark’s sharkskin. Also, there is spot on the sharkskin near the fire button which is discolored (barely noticeable, but just enough to bring out the OCD in me). Both of those things have me thinking I might just go naked with it.

For what its worth, in case someone reads this who is on the fence about buying the rDNA, I think that since my only real complaint so far is with a $7 accessory, it means this device is a winner! For the money I doubt if there is a better device available at the moment. If I had to choose between the vaporsharks (I don’t because I have both now, but if I did) I’d choose the rDNA over the regular vaporshark dna, mostly for the battery.
