I'm on the golf course about three months ago, waiting to tee off on the 17th hole. There's something disturbing laying on the ground. What is it, some sort of medical device, an epi-pen, what the heck? Surely someone is going to miss that. Not unconcerned, I put it in my bag, planning to leave it at the clubhouse. About ten minutes pass and a kid comes wheeling up in a cart, he's looking for his APV it turns out. He tells me he got it in town, my town! I had no idea there was a vape shop locally.
I'd smoked for forty-five years, two packs a day for the most part. All attempts at quitting were utter failures. I was aware many had succeeded in quitting with e-cigs and tried some free intro offer a couple years back on some cig-alike. Yeah, it delivered nicotine but also quickly gave me a headache. I saw different low level stuff at Wal-Mart, quick shops and the like and was unwilling to spend then bucks trying to find one that might work.
I saw talk in unrelated forums about the advanced products that were getting great results. I found websites from far away places that were interesting but I couldn't pull the trigger. One's relationship with nicotine seemed so personal, I needed face-to-face. After my golf outing I now had it!
So, yeah, I stopped by the local shop, they said "Try this..." Not bad!! OK, I'll give it a try. I had five cigarettes left in the pack I walked in the vape shop with. That evening I'd think "Need cig.." No, try a vape, see how long that holds you. This went on for a couple days. Two times I went ahead and smoked a cig to see how I'd react. No big deal. Two other times, I was on the phone and found lit cigarettes in my other hand. Who did that?!?!
I haven't looked back, still loving my nicotine and, almost immediately feeling better. The cigs were unquestionably killing me. I was hopeless and resigned, permanent damage has no doubt been done but maybe, just maybe, I've got a little more time on my side.
If anything, I feel guilty quitting tobacco was so easy. Bless you one and all.
