I'm on the golf course about three months ago, waiting to tee off on the 17th hole. There's something disturbing laying on the ground. What is it, some sort of medical device, an epi-pen, what the heck? Surely someone is going to miss that. Not unconcerned, I put it in my bag, planning to leave it at the clubhouse. About ten minutes pass and a kid comes wheeling up in a cart, he's looking for his APV it turns out. He tells me he got it in town, my town! I had no idea there was a vape shop locally.

I'd smoked for forty-five years, two packs a day for the most part. All attempts at quitting were utter failures. I was aware many had succeeded in quitting with e-cigs and tried some free intro offer a couple years back on some cig-alike. Yeah, it delivered nicotine but also quickly gave me a headache. I saw different low level stuff at Wal-Mart, quick shops and the like and was unwilling to spend then bucks trying to find one that might work.

I saw talk in unrelated forums about the advanced products that were getting great results. I found websites from far away places that were interesting but I couldn't pull the trigger. One's relationship with nicotine seemed so personal, I needed face-to-face. After my golf outing I now had it!

So, yeah, I stopped by the local shop, they said "Try this..." Not bad!! OK, I'll give it a try. I had five cigarettes left in the pack I walked in the vape shop with. That evening I'd think "Need cig.." No, try a vape, see how long that holds you. This went on for a couple days. Two times I went ahead and smoked a cig to see how I'd react. No big deal. Two other times, I was on the phone and found lit cigarettes in my other hand. Who did that?!?!

I haven't looked back, still loving my nicotine and, almost immediately feeling better. The cigs were unquestionably killing me. I was hopeless and resigned, permanent damage has no doubt been done but maybe, just maybe, I've got a little more time on my side.

If anything, I feel guilty quitting tobacco was so easy. Bless you one and all.

Hi @Newtsche you certainly do have more time left now, and a more quality of life to boot! That's amazing how you found the apv like that and the guy who owned it. Almost like it was meant to happen eh ;) What device are you using now and tank are you using now and is it good enough? I think yes, it does seem like an expensive thing we do because as smokers a pack of cigs is far cheaper. You only notice the small amount of money being exchanged one pack at a time rather than seeing how much money is passed over a month.Welcome to the Underground.

Thanks, guys. I'm across the river from St.Louis/South County. At this point my main rig is a Cana DNA30 clone and a Russian 91%. After a couple other directions early, I kinda like the box mod form factor over 18xxx series tube mods. Right now I have a 1.1 ohm coil using cotton wick. I got a sample of Ready X Wick and need to work with it some more, not so easy for me to manipulate. At this point not seeing huge savings from the cigs but it's more fun and I'm finding less reasons to keep spending.

Dripping seems like a PITA but I got a cheap clone and gave it a try. My regular juice is 18 nic but even 12 was too much. Me and my miserable lungs don't see cloud chasing in the future.

Very nice! Looks like you got a good set of goodies. I'm looking forward to trying the ReadyXwick eventually.
I mostly use my Nemesis and drippers. Make my own e-liquid too. Vaping has changed my life in many good ways.
And for the first time in my life I actually have a real hobby.
Saving money? LOL not so much. But having fun? Hell yeah!

So, I'm guessing you'd need to change the constituency of your juice and perhaps a lesser air draw. That should enhance the flavour whilst not being rough .

Great story and thanks for sharing!

As my gift to you, follow this link and download the program...

You plug in all of your smoking data (how much you smoked and how much you paid) and it will calculate the number of stinkies you have avoided, how much you have saved (not counting how much you blow on vaping which does not count) and how much time you are adding to your life!

Thanks, UncleRJ. Lurking here I've seen some posts with that data, wondering how they knew. Yep, I need these numbers to show my wife, particularly when I need that new whatever-I-can't-live-without.

just tell her that the money isn't nearly as important as your health. in the long run, vaping is much cheaper. :)
