Here's my story....

I've been smoking about a pack a day for almost 30 years (Damn, now I feel old....). About 2 years ago, I started having TIA's due to a blood clot in an artery in my brain. They were able to clear it out, but told me that I had a stroke at some point and if I didn't quit smoking I would have another, and I probably wouldn't make it through a second one. So I quit smoking for about 6 months with the patches, but I started back up again. A while back I started seeing everyone with these e-cigs and thought it was a just a fad until I had some friends that haven't had a smoke for about a year or so now, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I go back and forth between smoking and vaping, but really want to stop the smoking.

Welcome - keep at it, and pretty soon you'll get the hang of it, and hopefully totally be done with analogs. :)

What are you vaping with now, and what liquids do you like?

I'm using a vision spinner and an iJoy tank. As far as liquids, I have from a few local shops but I'm still learning about them. The one I have now is a Kaluha (sp) and brownie flavor that I really like.

Howdy.

No reason to beat yourself up over a few cigarettes. Been at it for almost 4 years now, still grab a smoke now and then.

That's a decent setup. Try different kinds of flavors until you find a few that really works for you. Good luck and stick around! :)

I go back and forth between smoking and vaping, but really want to stop the smoking.

So, what is lacking in your vape that you would go back to smoking?
To my experience (after 40 years of smoking) is that if I get my nicotine need satisfied, my vaping device works and I have a flavor that I really like - there is no reason to smoke. The vape is more pleasurable and satisfying than the analog.

I did have to find a tobacco flavor that I could vape all day and that was the hard part for me. I had make them to get them.

Welcome! It only gets easier really, and if you get something like a nautilus mini, it may tip the scale. That tank on a spinner is a nice, simple no mess vape. They put out better flavor, and more vapor, all stuff we want and need, and upping my nic helped me a lot, especially when I first quit.

So, what is lacking in your vape that you would go back to smoking?
Most of the time when I vape, I start coughing like I did when I was back in school, if you catch my drift...I never cough when I smoke anymore, but even with a juice that only has 6mg of Nic, as soon as I exhale, I loose it. So I'll go back and forth between vape hits until I can't take the coughing anymore, then grab a smoke. Now I have a 24mg liquid that I am trying to use on a regular basis, but it still bothers me. I was reading somewhere that I could have a reaction to PG, but I have been told that with the setup that I have now, I can't do a higher VG/PG ratio, so I'll just see if I adjust to it over time. I've only been at it for a week or so now...

Does your mouth and/or throat get dry when you vape? This is a known side effect of inhaling PG. Maybe drinking water and juices while vaping will help alleviate the problem.

Nope, no dryness here. As far as drinking water, I don't do soda's anymore and drink about 5 16oz glasses of water when I'm at my desk at work every day.

When I made the switch, the guy that got me into it told me it was perfectly natural while making the transition to go back and forth between the analogs and the cigalikes I started with.

At first, I just had to have one (or two or three) first thing in the morning, and at different times during the day and before bed of course.

But I kept the thought in my mind that I wanted to quite the damn things!

Over the course of two weeks, I was more satisfied with vaping than smoking and I just got to the point where I did not want the stinkies anymore.

Take you time dude and with just a tad of willpower and a high enough nic level at first (I recommend 24mg of nic to start as nic is absorbed into you body at a lower level when vaping than smoking) and you will be tobacco free in no time!

And drink plenty of fluids!

Sadly, beer does not count as a fluid. Water does so drink a lot of it.

A few extra trips to the bathroom is well worth it!

You're on the right track for sure - don't worry about the smokes you still have, be happy about the ones you don't. It took me almost a month of "dual use" before I quit completely.

I'm not familiar with the iJoy tank, but I don't see why you couldn't get a higher VG juice - it may wick a bit slower, meaning you'll have to slow down your time between pulls, but it shouldn't be a reason to keep using PG if it does turn out your body won't tolerate it...

I would try a 100% VG juice - thinned out if necessary with a little water if your rig doesn't like thick juice. (What kind of atomizer won't take VG?) My wife had the cough with PG. VG doesn't bother her.

Here is a pic of the tank that I have with all the parts (sorry, but I still don't know what they are all called except the wick).

I've been told that you can only use VG liquid in a dripper, but if that's not the case, I'll head out during lunch and check out some different places and see what they have.

This is a bottom feed plastic tank that uses a Kangertech single coil. You can put any juice you want into it. It may be that 100% VG is too thick for the coils - so add a little bit of water to the juice in the bottle (not the tank) to thin it out. It is true that thick juice like 100 VG doesn't work in the tanks - just add water. Be careful because a drop or two changes the viscosity dramatically. Juice too thin will flood.
If you are into tobacco flavor PM me and I will send you a 100VG that will work in that tank.
I would suggest getting a mini Pro tank - it is similar to the evod but is glass and has better air draw. It uses the same coil/wick. .

Update:

I found another shop near me that has a 90% VG liquid and have been using it since lunch. the flavor is a Boston creme doughnut and coffee flavor and.....OMG.....I've only had 3 smokes today and haven't ripped anyone's arms off yet so it's looking good so far :)

They had some tobacco flavors that I tried and I wasn't too keen on them, but if I know anyone around here looking I'll tell them about VU.

Sounds like good finds to me! Are those juices house-brand? If not, who makes them? :)

The company is Velvet Cloud Vapor and the flavor is Night Shift. They have a web site but I don't know if links are OK to use here, but you can find them on Google.
