DIY in canada? Where do I go?

Please help me out guys. I live in the middle of Canada and want to try diy for the first time. Any recommendations as to where I should order from? I tried to order from liquid barn in USA but it did not make it here due to nic laws in canada. Where do I order from where I will actually get my package?!

Sucks getting your package rejected.

I don't think it's laws, but the a-holes at Health Canada playing God with
memos and warnings. They seem to have no problem with Zyban, which
drives some people to suicide or into becoming killers.

Google these names: All E-Cig Solutions, DIY-eJuice and canvape.

Just found this post when searching. I'm also in Canada and I'm looking to DIY and I have some questions.

-How much flavouring is typically used in a recipe? I know that 1ml is approx 20 drops so are 10ml good enough? Supposing I'm using a single flavouring in a recipe. Approximately how many drops/mLs would I use for 10ml bottle?
-Where's a good place to buy VG and PG? I was thinking 500ml bottles max and maybe even 250ml for PG since I wanna keep the ratio 70/30 or less PG
-I'd like to try HiC's recipes and I noticed he uses nearly exclusively Flavour Art flavourings. They are pretty expensive at canvape. Is there a better source to buy FA flavourings in Canada?

also, there is a vendor on here called YUMMeJuice from calgary that sells her juices very cheap. Has anyone tried ordering from them before?

Thanks for your suggestions!

From 3% to 15% by single flavor. Flavourart is one of the most concentrated (3% to 6% is good). Each company has its own general percentage. You can Google the name of the flavor, with "percentage" and you will find it easily.

DIY-Ejuice has FA flavors.

Hi. Thanks for the response but it was a little over my head. I asked what volume (mLs or drops) of flavouring is typically added to a recipe and if a 10mL bottle of flavouring was sufficient for a beginner like myself. So if I understood correctly, the percentages are percent of the recipe and different manufacturers require differing concentrations?

I'm guessing if I want to try HiC's recipes, I should stick to flavour art or else I'll get very different results?

I'm also looking for a good source of VG and PG in Canada.

Thanks for the responses! Answers to my actual question are greatly appreciated. Cheers

@MTLian Your not going to find much cheaper than http://www.diy-ejuice.com/ as far as I have seen. They have a great selection of flavors and you can get bottles as low as 3ml's so you can try first to see if you like it. And if using FA, a 3ml bottle will go a long way.

Plus they carry just about everything you will need except nic. http://www.firstchoicevapor.ca/default.asp may be your best bet for nic. I have not tried them yet but have read a good review on their nic here: http://www.wackedoutecig.ca/diy-do-...an-nicotine-review-post144023.html#post144023

As for mixing instructions, I'm not good enough yet to give advice, but I would suggest that you try the flavors stand alone and start with low percentages. Asking for what percentages to use will get you a wide range from many different people. One may say use XX at 2% and someone else will say use XX at 10%. It is not that both people are wrong or right, it is just that different people have different tastes. What works for one may not work for others.

Again that is subjective and will get different responses. Not all PG and VG and nic are made the same. The best I can see is to get all three from the same supplier, because lets face it they would have tried them all together and want to give their customers the best products. If they found a bad VG that did not go with their PG and nic they would surly not want to use or sell that VG. OR I could be wrong about that. Lets face it there is a 90% chance they are vapers to, and use their own products.

Percentages can be different, but with FA, people agree with limited differences. FA is a good way to start (and this is the sole company with fully tested products).

You can use different flavors for HIC's recipes, but the result will be very different. It's better to start with the original recipes, because they have been tested. It can be really good or just ok to you, but you are sure to get decent result. To my personal taste, those recipes need higher percentages.

1 ml = 20 drops
10ml of juice = 200 drops of liquid.
05% of flavor = 10 drops
190 drops = others ingredients.

I wish I could get a smaller quantity of Nic. I plan on making mainly 0 and 3mg batches so I don't need 120 ml... Are there any alternatives to first choice vapour in Canada for Nic?

I don't know, but you can keep the nic in the freezer for years.

At Canvape http://www.canvape.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BVG48 you can get a 30ml bottle but Canvape only deals in 48 nic strength. I have ordered and tried their nic and it is pretty good.
But buying small sizes may end up costing you more due to the shipping charge. Like Canvape $7.95 for 30ml, $10.00 shipping + tax. That is very expensive for 30ml. You would have to order more thing from them to make it worth wile.
VaperBC http://vaperbc.com/collections/frontpage/products/100-mg-nicotine-base?variant=1105243849 also carries 30 and 60 mls but I find their prices are high.
Most places you will find will only deal with minimum 120mls so your best bet is like @VinceV1 said freeze it and it will last a long time.

I suggest you check ecigexpress (http://www.ecigexpress.com/) for prices. They are not in Canada but their prices are VERY good. Even with the exchange rate and shipping they are the cheapest I have found. Most Canadian suppliers charge $8.00 to $10.00 for 30ML of Flavor Art but ecigexpress sell them for $5.38 USD. So even with the exchange it only comes out to about $7.00 CAD. Fast shipping and no customs issues. I paid 16 bucks for shipping for 15 flavors (30ml each). A good deal and they come in the original packaging (not re-bottled like some other vendors).

Their other brands (TFA, Flavor West, Capella) is also very good deal at USD $3.35 to $3.95 for 30ml

They also have a 10% discount for social shares. Bonus.

and BTW, no tax!

We re-bottle every single brand we carry with exception to Capella & Lorann, however it's done on a much more efficient sanitary scale than the smaller DIY companies.

Man, I wish I had seen this thread earlier, I just got done ordering all my flavors and supplies. How about the Nicotine though? Could I order it through ecigexpress or will it get seized at the border?

The shipping time was amazing for a package coming from the US and going through Customs. I wish they allowed us to order products with nicotine..., but that's wishful thinking on my part
From this comment, can I gather that nicotine is a no go? Who is the "they" he is referring to? Is it ecigX that will not ship the nic or is it Canada customs that will seize the package?

If I can order nic base from ecig, I'll do it and add a flavor I forgot in my last order! Just say the word and you've just gained a customer!

Yes they can seize it. I've read some people get 1 in 3 orders seized. That's why nic base is so expensive to buy in Canada. But at least you'll get it for sure.
But at those prices might be worth a gamble.

Get your nic from a Canadian source. I got 500ml of 100mg nic base from Hydavape (http://hydavape.com/diy-supplies/). Cost me CAD 107 including taxes and shipping. More expensive than nic from the US but what can you do? You'd be taking your chances getting it from the US and that's if they even ship it here.

Thanks everyone for your invaluable advice! Next time I need something non nicotine related, ecigexpress is gonna be my first stop. Right now I'm looking into getting a RDA so maybe I can order that combined with some flavours from somebody to make it worthwhile with the shipping.

I've paid 50$ shipped for 120mL of 100mg nic from first choice vapour.com . Since I plan on making 3mg and 0 Nic batches, it should last me until Skynet and the robot apocalypse or 2020, whichever comes first :)

Hey MTLian, ecigexpress is having a sale through monday. 30% off their flavor art prices. 30ml are now $3.84 US (about 5 loonies). Coupon code"UNDERGROUND10" will get you an extra 10% off. I just placed an order for 16 flavorings and paid US 61 including shipping. Can't beat that!

Just received my order from DIY eJuice in canada. Been vaping on my first mixes and the taste of the 70/30 VG pg is smooth so the quality of the VG/PG is good. Everything was neatly packaged and no leaks or breakage. The large gauge syringe tips were good and their selection of syringes was just what I needed to get started while I wait for my scale to arrive. The dropper bottles are all childproof and they work very well.

The bubble wrapped stuff aremy glass containers for my nic.

I have made a couple of orders with them. One I had sent and one I picked up personally. They are not far from me. They are a young couple and are very nice people to deal with. And yes I find that they are well stocked with just about everything one needs. The best pricing I have been able to find in Can. When I first met them they were working out of their house, and boy was that room packed, but now I see that they have opened a shop. That's good now they can bring in, and store more. Their my go to first place.

I have been thinking of trying DIY because I am going through so much more juice now and I find I am spending so much more than I did a few months ago. This is good information on Canadian suppliers. I looked at allecigsolutions and they have a starter kit. Is it something I should consider? I will check out DIY ejuice for flavouring.

I recommend looking at ecigexpress. Shipping is not bad and the prices are great, even with exchange to CAN. However, I must say that I was 100% satisfied with my order with diy-eJuice in canada.

To me, Going the DIY was the best decision ever! Right now I'm vaping orange creamsicle and cherry cola :)

So after experimenting with HiC's great recipes and creating my own, I've finally received my 100mg VG base Nic from first choice vapor. Even though I'm mixing at 3mg, my recipes now taste the same but with a dirty ashtray taste and scratchiness in the throat.

I know that Nic can give throat hit and impart a slight flavor but I'm surprised of how scratchy and bad my mixes taste as such a low strength. Is this normal? Did I get a bad batch? Before I started DIY, I was vaping 3mg and never detected such a bad taste in my store bought juices. What gives?

P.S. I did shake the living hell out of the container before I mixed with it.

That's to bad. I have not tried their nic yet but there is a good review done here. This guy doucetr64 and he is picky on his nic and has tried a few and so far he likes their nic. He does not detect any TH and he tested at 18mg. But remember everyone is different.
http://www.wackedoutecig.ca/diy-do-...an-nicotine-review-post144023.html#post144023

I know you shook the hell out of it but maybe not enough. VG base is very thick and who knows how long this has sat and maybe separated. Maybe warming it up then a good shake.

Get as many flavor concentrates as you can. They will always be used. Not sure how it is in Canada, but usually in the US, you can go to wizard labs and order 8 mL flavors for $1.49 and you have the option to choose from all different companies.

You will spend a good amount of money to start it, but make sure you do because you don't want to get a few flavors and you have a bad experience and end up thinking you are bad at it. I started out with 12 flavors, but that was nothing so I spent $100 and I got me a good kit where I can DIY almost any flavor recipe that I see online.

Make sure to have Acetyl pyrizine and Ethyl maltol as you will see that many recipes require them.

There are many websites for recipes, but one that I like is this (make sure you translate. It's found on the bottom left of the page):

Don't go by drops because different flavors have different densities. so some might be 20 drops to make 1 mL and some maybe 35 drops or even more. Get yourself a glass graduated cylinder and drop into that first so you know exactly how much you're adding.

I made the same mistake and I was adding drops and my measurements kept coming out wrong where the my nicotine concentration was always coming out higher than what I was going for.

Actually, you CAN mix by drops, even though it isn't the most accurate way. Make sure all your droppers are the same - if your flavors all come from the same vendor you should be fine. Only thing that cannot (and should not) be measured by drops is nic, especially if it is VG-based. 99% of flavorings come in a PG base and should therefore be the same viscosity.

Hopefully that wasn't too confusing! :p

Not really. Droppers may all be the same but viscosity of flavours can also be different.

You don't need to be precise, as long as you are consistent, no? ;)
Oh I am consistent and I would rather be precise. I would always recommend to anyone just starting out to be precise as possible. Saves from wasting too much.

If you just get a graduated cylinder, which are really cheap, you'll live happy. You'll be able to use droppers instead of syringes and you don't have to count the drops, just simply look at the measurements on the graduated cylinder.

MTLian

I'm waiting for my scale to come in from China. I make mainly 6ml batches so I want more precision than graduated cylinders. It seems I'm having a real hard time getting the Nic to mix. Even within a little bottle, some refills are smooth, others harsh. All in all, dealing with Nic has taken much of the fun out of diy. The more Nic I put, the more it tastes like crap. So I'm keeping it as low as possible. Anything over 1.5 mg spoils the flavour of my recipes.

I ordered my nic from diy-ejuice.com but because I like to buy as local as I can I got the rest of my stuff from flavourfog.com.

I have used First Choice Vapor and Fusion Flavours for my first orders, but I'm going to be placing an order with www.diy-ejuice.com tonight; I went on their site today and Kelly messaged me as soon as I got on; asking if I needed help.

That got my business right there!

I'll be ordering my flavours/bases/supplies from there and continue buying my nic through First choice.

Good luck on your DIY journey!

I get my flavors from diy-ejuice.com. Prices are fair compared to other Canadian suppliers that I know. Service and packaging is perfect. Now they have more flavors from different company and less "out of stock" :).

I get my PG from Costco. It's Medisca 0510-09 (-09 is for 1L quantity). It cost 10.29$ for 1L. It's possible to get more. Medisca also has Glycerin USP (product no: 0613) wich is from vegetable source that Medisca confirmed at phone. But it's not available from Costco.
Because of that I get my VG from coopcoco. It's from coconut source and is USP Kosher. It's cheap also, 10$ fro 1L. It can be purchased also at 4L for 30$.

The big problem is the nic base. Way too expensive here at Canada compared to US. I just placed an order for 100mg 1L from US. Now crossing fingers :).
