Hello from Minnesota

Hello Everyone,

I quit smoking and started vaping one month ago to the day. This was after 30 plus years of smoking. My dad and my grandpa (dad’s dad) both died of lung cancer, and I knew, if I wanted to dance at my kid’s weddings and see my future grandchildren grow up, I had to stop smoking, or my fate would probably take the same path as those before me.

So anyway, I just wanted to thank you for allowing me to join your community and to say . . . happily . . . after one month of vaping and in particular since I began sub-ohming, I can honestly say that I cannot stand the taste of cigarettes anymore! And for the first time in quite a few years I am starting to feel better; for the first time in a long time I am gaining back some hope!

Take care Vapers!

Hello cygnus and welcome to VU. Glad you hear you kicked the smoking habit. I haven't made it that far yet but getting a lot closer.

Hey thanks CgS_Drone!

What helped me quit smoking was to first understand the three main E-Cigarette Types.

Cigalikes:
Look like conventional cigarettes

eGos:
Larger than cigalikes and usually come with a removable tank that can be refilled with a eliquid.

Modular e-cigarettes (Mods):
Usually larger than eGos and can be endlessly customized.

Cigalikes didn’t work for me at all. Then I tried a device that’s sort of a cross between an eGo and a Mod. The Aspire Nautilus Mini with the Aspire CF VV+ (both come in the Aspire Premium Kit). This was better than the Cigalikes but still didn’t cut it mostly because the air draw was too restricted and I’d find myself having to chain vape all day to get enough nicotine. What did it for me was when I moved into the third category (the Mod’s) and began “sub-ohming.” Sub-ohming with its huge clouds and concentrated vapor satisfied the physical part allowing my lungs to feel the same sensation as smoking (actually better than smoking). I still do use the Nautilus Mini, but only with Black Note eliquid. Black Note NET eliquid is the closest thing that I have found to the taste of a real cigarette, so after a meal and other times that I used to really enjoy a cigarette, I will now vape on the Nautilus Mini with Black Note. The Sub-Ohm Tank and Mod that I have . . . completely satisfies my nicotine craving and the smoking sensation craving that I have throughout the rest of the day.

Here’s my equipment list that I highly recommend:

For the times that I want a cigarette (after meals and such) –
Aspire Nautilus Mini with the Aspire CF VV+ (with 1.8ohm coils) vaping 12mg Black Note eliquid (Legato and Bravura are my favorites - 50vg/50pg).

For rest of the day sub-ohming –
Uwell Crown Sub-Ohm Tank (with either 0.5ohm or 0.25ohm stainless steel coils)
Joyetech Evic VTC Mini (MOD) with latest firmware update so that it can go up to 75watts in power mode and do temperature control with stainless steel coils.
Vaping with 6mg eliquids (70vg/30pg or 80vg/20pg)

Hope this info helps you out.
