Now I need to add marzipan too! It just sounds very good! Every time I get an order I need to start on the next list of must haves...

Curly do you have Torrone? I found them quite similar but it is lighter.

Sent from my stupid iPhone because I don't have an Android.

Ok, feeling a little weird about my DIY so far. I have been trying some of HICs recipes and the flavor just seems so light to me. I have Cosmic fog milk & honey, space jam eclipse and starship 1, Mt baker honey berries and dulce de leche here in front of me and they are all many times stronger flavor. I nearly doubled up on the percentages in HICs limoncello torrone parfait and its still not quite as strong as any of the commercial juices. I made his extra smooth tiramisu cream and I couldn't really taste anything but a little cream. I'm not knocking HICs recipes I think they are spot on its just the intensity is scary how light it comes through to me. I realize that most of my commercial juices are more like 50/50 while I am mixing at max VG but I can't believe it would make that huge of a difference. I barely use salt on my food and am not a heavy sugar user in my coffee. In fact I have to drink milk with anything chocolate because its usually too strong for me. Though I like a cigar maybe once or twice a month I haven't smoked a cig in 10 years. Whats going on?!

HIC does like lighter flavors for the most part. Not always. I sometimes use a stronger %, I do like bold flavors. HIC's recipes are really good. I hope those flavors come through for you. How long since you smoked?

10yrs! I actually started vaping to give up Copenhagen.

HIC does use light mixes, partly because he can't tolerate PG. What I sometimes do is to increase the total percentage of a recipe - so, say, the total percentage of flavoring HIC uses is 6% I may make it at 8%, always keeping the same proportions of the original recipe.

I went up to
5 drops FA Lemon Sicily
3 drops FA Torrone
3 drops FA Custard (FA Vienna Cream will do in a pinch, but adds vanilla flavor)
2 drop Meringue
4 ml of your nic base.

I really like it. Just startled me how much I had to increase it and it still isn't as strong as my commercial juices.
Try a mix without nic...
So is this to see if my particular nic juice is muting flavor? I only mix at 6mg.

I love HIC & wllmc created recipes. Both are masters in my book. Both have stated that they have purposely trained their tastes to use light %'s of flavors. My tastebuds are still recovering, so I need stronger juice. I usually mix at double the strength of their %'s, and sometimes end up at triple strength. Eventually I hope to use less, but right now I don't care :p They taste too good!

The recipe uses 6% total flavoring, and you ended up around 9% - that's not such a huge increase.

You know what you might want to do as you try out recipes... mix just the flavorings in the smallest bottle you have, keeping the ratios the same. Then use that as your flavoring. (click here for an explanation) That way you can easily increase the total flavoring without having to re-compute percentages or get all the bottles out again. It's handy for me, because my partner and I vape some of the same recipes, but I can't use as much flavoring.

ps - if you're trying any of mine that I describe as lightly flavored, you probably want it at least doubled. Limoncello Torrone Parfait is one I consider pretty strong.

Thanks HIC, I'll try that. Really wasn't meaning to knock your recipes at all. This limoncello torrone parfait is delicious. You ever made a pecan pie juice?

Okay....I feel stupid for not even thinking of doing that pre mixing a few flavors to increase like that...a few of my own I would like to bump up a bit. I have tried a few of your recipes and I love the flavor, they were a tad light for me, but it has grown on me, and makes vaping rich juices much easier in this hot weather.

If you're used to strong flavors it may take some time to develop the taste buds for less flavoring IMO.
Most people, when they start vaping, can't taste much, and keep adding more and more flavoring.
Strong flavorings, (I think), will also burn out the taste buds somewhat.
Over a nine month period I've been able to taste more and more at lower percents.
And sometimes the stronger ones I can't vape all day anymore.
Maybe over time you'll develop a more sensitive taste, but it's hard to say for sure.

Exactly. I mix at the same mg. Trust me, even at that mg it can "interfere".
Right but I'm wondering if I made it without nic would that tell me to switch to a different supplier? Obviously I'm not going to start mixing 0 nic to be able to use less flavoring.

I have been vaping about a year and a half and no cigarettes for over 10 years so I don't expect my ability to taste to change much. I have come across some commercial juices that are too strong for me. For instance this Space Jam Starship 1 I can only handle a few drips a day and often just use it to add to other juices.

With Max VG. Steeping for a few days makes a huge difference IMO. Or crockpot for 4 hours. VG takes extra time to come to full flavor. I've actually bumped recipes up, only to realize in a few days, it was too much flavoring! :)

Yes I just got the crazy summer deal.
I got in on that too. I have 2x 120ml (2+ years worth for me) of VT next in the queue tho. The MFS liter (6 years worth) is in the deep freeze off location. :) That's my emergency plan!

Did:
4% FA Watermelon
2% FA Cantaloupe
.25% FA Cucumber
1% TFA Honeydew

Way too strong!!!!!

I used this as flavoring at about 30% still a little strong!

Cantaloupe is a very bold flavor, bullied everything else. Need to rethink this one.

Any melon mixers out there?? <echo> <echo> <crickets>

Give it a try without the nic, just to see if there is a difference. If not maybe try a different kind of vg? Some is made with different source material, soy, palm, and coconut oil being the main ones. I never had a problem with what I get from bull city. But like previously stated vg isn't a flavor carrier like pg, and resting overnight can only help the vg take on said flavor.
Some apply heat to assist in the mixing process. I do not so others may be able to assist better than I can on that front. HIC is a shake and vape kind of mixer and I always find they taste pretty good to me right after mixing (I also mix max vg). If you find you don't have a problem with nic or vg interference, then yes I'd add just a bit more flavoring at a time. I'm a less is more kinda guy for the most part and find HICs recipes have enough flavoring for me, for the most part anyway.

...um, FA Cantaloupe is the main reason I don't like melon vapes. I tried maybe 5% standalone, and it was way too much for me. 2% turned out to be plenty, but that 5% flavor is so burned into my brain that I have flashbacks when I taste other melon flavors. lol! It's an accurate flavor, but I haven't found a way to vape it again.

All good advice! I rarely, if ever, increase the flavoring of HIC's recipes but a lot of the time I do have to give them a day or two. There is a reason a lot of us rave about VT nic, most all other nic mute flavor, kill sweetness and require extra steeping time.

I doubt if I will be investing in more nic anytime soon. Any cash I have to spend on this will be making my favorites of those tiny bottles into larger versions.

I have just been running them through a couple warm cycles in the ultrasonic cleaner. I do have a slow cooker what kind of time do people use for that?

Wow, I'm glad to find out through you that 2% cantaloupe is strong. I have some but haven't mixed with it yet. Just last night popped the cap to smell test and thought it did seem a bit intense. Was thinking of mixing with kiwi and maybe a small bit of black cherry. Not sure why but those combined taste good in my brain.

Will heed your (and HIC's) warning and start at 1% with the melon cantaloupe!

I think it will be good with black pepper. Found that suggestion on the another thread. Need to try black pepper first. Should be here Friday. Been vaping that mix (reduced) and I can totally see (taste?) it working.

I always thought my Grandmother was crazy for putting salt and pepper on melon but apparently people like it.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to try that black pepper too soon. Absolutely love the flavor of fresh ground black peppercorns and may enjoy it as standalone. Curious to find out at least.

Read somewhere recently that black pepper blends well with strawberry.

I tried it standalone at 2%. Quite nice - different. Like you, not sure I'll ever use it, but it's not a bad flavor.
@AmandaD I think I messed up the first time I did 5% at 50/50 it was not bad but I backed down to 3% its interesting got any ideas what to mix it with I mixed it with HPNO and it ruined it.. :)

I cringe every time friends and family put salt on watermelon. It's a popular thing around here too but can't make myself try it. Had never heard before of putting pepper on melon though.

Not really any idea - it's not that bad as a standalone - although I doubt I'd bother. Maybe try it with some vienna cream, and maybe a dark berry of somesort?

Hi All,
hope everyones well been away in Wales on hols,
Just my opion on Hics recipes i find that i have to go up about 2% on Hic's Recommendations and thats enough flavour for me. I also drip alot and use a twin coil 0.9 ohms on a igo w4 cotten wick, which is a cotten cloud placed under coils not through and the taste and vapour are awsome.
