I like Flavor West American Tobacco, but it's PG-based. I vape 100% VG (few drops DW) and am looking for VG-based American Tobacco flavoring. Anyone seen any? I found American Tobacco ejuice that is 100% VG, but want the concentrated flavoring. Thanks for any help.

I just did a little calculating and at 100% PG in the flavoring it comes out to about 10%. Would you be able to Vape that?

Hey bud. :D Would prefer VG-based flavoring. Reason is, there is other flavoring I might also use along with the tobacco, and it's also PG-based (all my flavorings are). As you know, VG requires more flavor to really taste it. I was messing with the little 5ml bottle of Flavor West American Tobacco, and was just adding it to the 7ml AS tank... and kept having to add more... and more... and more... until I could get a good flavor, and ended up being like 25-30% which really watered down the juice ... and if I vape this the rest of the day, will be coughing tomorrow from the PG.

So figuring I won't always vape the tobacco flavoring alone (even assuming I get a different one that's more concentrated), I'd prefer to get one in a VG base. Or I can always make a NET but that brings chemicals along I don't want, (which is why I don't vape NETs regularly).

BTW this is all your fault! :giggle: You're the one who brought up tobacco flavors!

This I have found false because I at one time was making High or Max VG DIY e-Liquids religiously and when I decided to go back to 70/30 VG/PG I did not change the amount of flavoring just the VG/PG ratio.

Here I think the problem was you never gave it time to age and infuse. I make Tobaccos all the time and I let them age for 3-4 minimum heated under a desk lamp (incandescent bulb-NO UV) which speeds up the process.

All I can say is, been vaping with max VG from the start and know how much flavoring I need for my tastes. 10% PG is too much for my throat/lungs. (The caramel I use happens to be at 5% which also happens to be about the max PG I will tolerate.) Also not into steeping or heating ... just not in my DNA to bother... when I run our of juice I make more, and vape it. Some inadvertently sits until it gets vaped, but I want whatever I make to be vapable on the spot. That's my routine for the last 5yrs and it works well for me. :D

But I hear you that tobacco flavors especially are better after they sit...just don't want to factor that in when mixing and have to mix ahead of time. Would rather use a VG-based tobacco and have it taste good from the start... then if the stuff that gets vaped a little later is too strong, will add some VG to the 120ml bottle... but doubt it will be an issue. But an easy fix if it is.

All my reasons for wanting a VG-based tobacco flavoring, if one is out there... :)

In my experience even Flavorless needs time to infuse and if you shake and can see the different liquids still separated it still needs time. Liquid Barn makes VGD or VG Dominant flavors so you might look for other companies that make them. Good Luck

Thanks... might give their Sweet Tobacco a try, but would really like to find American Tobacco. (Liquid Barn's Vanilla Cream Tobacco also sounds good, but I suspect anything with "cream" in the name has diketones. This gets back to why I buy from TFA... I am that nerd that likes knowing everything in the flavoring since I am inhaling it.) I know. I'm a PITA. And am reminded of why I don't bother buying any new flavors... it's too much trouble.

Was just hoping someone might happen to know of an AT in VG base... perhaps it's asking too much.

I do not believe any Liquid Barn flavoring contain Diketones but you can view the Flavor Data Sheet or FDS for every single flavor to see if it does. I make 60ML's of VC Tobacco ever 2 weeks or less~! The Sweet Pipe I haven't made in a while and just said to myself I need to make some up.

Check out Nude Nicotine. I know that what they call their Nude Blends flavors are VG based. You can contact them about their Euro Flavors line (under the Single Favor icon) as their site doesn't describe the carrier base for those.

Ha! Forgot all about Nude Nic - have always bought my nic from them! I did get some of their tobacco flavorings a few years back... the plain "Tobacco" was delish, but they are NETs (although super clean unlike what I would make), but like any NET, they do gunk the coils quick. (I make all my own coils so prefer cheap ole flavoring to save time changing/making new batches of coils.) But thanks for reminding me about them... I might pick up some more of that Tobacco anyway... or I might have some left. :D (Time to rummage through the flavor box that was born to be a tackle box, but had a change of career before it ever got started.)

PS EDIT: Oh yeah, I see that Euro link... will email NN to ask what the base is.... THANKS!

EDIT#2: Just emailed them to ask if the Euro flavors are VG-based and diketone-free. Will report back here when I hear, for future readers who may have an interest.

EDIT#3. Here is the DATA SHEET for Euro Flavors. Some flavors might be missing. Glancing through it, there are diketones in a handful flavors, but most are diketone-free, and most (not all) of the tobacco flavors are diketone-free too. Don't know what the base is yet though.

And new question: they have American Black, Blue, Silver and Gold. Which of those would be closest to American Tobacco Red, or a Marlboro red equivalent?

I found them to be strong for me and had to cut the recommended percentages but after some aging they are very enjoyable. At least in my fucked up opinion~! LMFAO

After looking through the tobacco's getting all excited, I remembered why I ended up only shopping at TFA... no info on diketones at DIY FS, though not likely to be any in tobacco that doesn't have the words "vanilla" or "custard" in the name. But emailed them to ask just the same... with an order already in mind. I did buy flavoring there in the long ago past and liked that vendor. That was prior to learning about A/D/AP but I hope the email response is a good one. :) Looking forward to trying those and thanks for the advice on them being on the strong side. Will break out the dripper and make some sample recipes to see. And ok... will also mix some to steep in case it knocks my socks off and makes it worth my while to futz with one more thing. :D

You're becoming a real problem for me. :giggle:

Got a reply from DIY Flavor shack. I asked about 3 specific flavors: Burly, Black Tobacco, &
Pipe Tobacco, to see if they had "diketones (A/D/AP)" and received this reply:

"The 3 flavors you have asked about do not contain such ingredients.
    Joey G.M."

... which leaves all the flavors I didn't ask about an open question. Would have preferred a data sheet, but it was nice to get a reply and in fairness he answered my specific question.

Now can any tobacco connoisseurs tell me what kind of tobaccos Burly and Black Tobacco are? :DI was hoping Black might be like Captain Black...? (hope springs eternal!) :giggle:

PS I'm trying them anyway b/c they are VG-based and no diketones. So THANKS @SteveS45 !

I used to be as concerned about the Diketones as you are @"11" but after all these years, and a little bit of additional research, if I was to use flavor percentages like Andria does even the the PPM in my e-Liquids would be less than what I got from a pack a Marlboro Reds I used to smoke daily. But again it is just my opinion and you need to do what makes you comfortable. Good Luck

As to asking the right question, I was expecting a reference to a data sheet, so yeah, I should have asked for a data sheet, but in case they didn't have one, I wanted to know about those 3 at least. :D

Far as diketones go, it might be noteworthy to restate I was not a smoker. I smoked very occasionally for the very reason it isn't good for you. Months (or sometimes years) would go by without a smoke. However, I vape daily. So what I'm inhaling is important to me as I am healthy (thankfully), always have been, and want to keep it that way. :D However, there is room for enjoyment in life, even keeping an even keel. Diketones might or might not matter, but I enjoy vaping without them, so why add them? That's my perspective but to each his (or her) own. Everyone has their own balance between enjoyment and health (be it food, drink, or whatever). Some might think it's stupid I vape at all, even without diketones.
    :vino:But hey... I enjoy it.

Might look on ecigexpress at the Northwest VG Flavors. I am not at all sure if they make a tobacco flavoring they have a ton of pretty solid flavors suspended in VG.

Thanks jwill... will def check out the NW VG flavors!

Just placed an order with DIY FS for VG-based tobaccos:
    AR Dark
    AR Orient Black
    AR Burly
    AR Pipe
... and American Blend (this one doesn't specify VG so probably PG but thought I'd compare to FW AT)

They gave a warning at the order's placement to read the Home page in regards to handling time [before the order gets shipped], saying they try to do it sooner, but don't email asking why the order hasn't shipped unless you've waited past the stated period... I'm in no rush but went to the Home page just to see what the handling time is... and found no reference to it whatsoever. (where's a thumbs up emoji when ya need one) :D But whenever it comes it will be a pleasant surprise.

And @SteveS45 ... I'll bill you for this order since it's all your fault. :giggle: (A nice fault. :D )

... just called "American Blend." D'oh! I just looked it up and saw the several American Blends (Gold, Blue, Silver) with VG base which you had linked to before. I forgot they had those! The page I was on today (searched for tobacco) only showed the "American Blend" generic, which is not VG. But that's the one I got since it had American in the name. Just logged in to change the order (would have chosen American Blend Gold VG, probably closest to Marlboro Red?) but it says the order is already shipped.

So much for the long handling time!!! :giggle:

Happily I will order more of whatever ones I like, so can get the AB Gold VG then. (This is what happens when I look at multiple vendors -- can't keep straight who has which flavors!) Dude, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! :D

I have the American Blend Gold in VG I think I will have to go check~! One thing it is strong so depending on your taste might want to start at a low percentage~! Enjoy

Thanks bud. Rather than breaking out the dripper (yet) for a full-on recipe session, will start by just adding a couple drops to a full (7ml) AS tank with my normal caramel and seeing how much it affects it... then when I get around to it will do proper testing with VG + flavoring alone, and said dripper as I might like some of these on their ownsome too...

How fun. Haven't ordered flavoring in a few years. BTW they had a whole page of food/candy VG based flavors as well (which you already know)... might have to add a few of those to the next order. Only thing missing is.... a data sheet. :D

I would suggest doing the full test because this to me at least was so close to a real Cigarette it needed time to really age before it got much more mellower. Again just my opinion and best of luck.

I will be too impatient to not put a couple drops in a tank right off, but you make a good point and wouldn't hurt to make up a small 15ml bottle of each to set aside, though that's not my style. But I'll give it a go and steep a few on the sly just so I can come back later and tell you you were right. :D

DIY Flavor Shack sent my order very promptly and received it yesterday. Not only that, they included a 10ml bottle of American Blend Gold VG just to be nice! It was a very good buying experience (they also responded to email promptly), so they bat 100 in my book.

And I have to say, their flavors actually taste like tobacco. @SteveS45 is right, though, they need steeping to remove the flowery/harsher overtones, true of most tobaccos. With the dripper I could really taste that cigarette flavor across the middle of the exhale though, so just need to steep away the other notes. The Pipe tasted faintly of Capt Black. Each was unique and I think I will enjoy most if not all of them.

Also thanks to Steve for his advice as to strength. I made up (6) 10ml vials with 5ml VG in each for testing purposes, adding 1-2 drops of flavoring in each vial, which is just 1-2% and that was plenty (at least before steeping) to get an idea. After trying them each, made up 30ml bottles to put away for a few weeks. Depending on the flavor, the strength ranged from 1% - 3%.

Still wish there was a cigarette flavor that didn't need steeping you could just add a few drops to whatever tank you have going, but this is a HUGE improvement from the last time I tried tobacco flavors, and the tobacco flavor I DID get was so close to a cigarette (or pipe) that makes steeping worth it, even to someone who doesn't normally bother with it.

    So again, thanks @SteveS45. :)

My only reservation is that the bottles have a disclaimer that they "may contain [and here they name all the diketones]." This includes flavors they state don't have diketones. I asked about it and they very nicely informed me all their labels say that, and that they state on the site if a flavor has diketones. I can imagine several innocuous reasons why a small business might do that, but it's not reassuring without a lab sheet. So don't know that I will re-order, but trust them enough to at least vape this order and see what happens later. I prefer buying from sellers that provide labs. No offense to DIY, they've been super nice. A+ in fact.
