Hello Vapors. Another new guy trying to find his way. Looks like a great forum, everyone seems pretty laid back and none of that back and forth Ford vs Chevy junk that tanks a good thread. Don't see anyone making fun of Noobs either, super-cool.
Bought a Reg Mod a week ago with a 1/2 pack of smokes in my pocket. Still have 1/2 pack minus 4 control burns to check nicotine levels during the first 2 days. No desire to pick them up after 28 yrs of stupidity.
The amount of brands, re-brands, e-juice, stores, etc. is a little overwhelming. Trying to separate good info from a site just trying to sell something or get click through traffic is a little tough. Same with reviews.
My vape bought after a couple trips to the LVS:
Vaporesso Tarot Nano. Seems pretty good right out of the box but I don't know any different, and didn't know much when I bought it.
Vaping a 70VG/30PG 6 mg nicotine at 22-25 watts. Coil reads .43 ohm
Few issues I'm trying to work through:
1 Looking for a little stronger hit. If I up the wattage it seems too hot, I think I like it cooler. Tried a 50/50 blend seemed worse. Find myself double hitting or chaining.
2 Sometimes it's like sucking a marble through a straw, do I need more airflow?
3 The 2ml tank is a bit small but looking for another is making my head hurt, so many. I like the little EUC coils and everyone seems to like them too. I read where you can use them in any Atlantis style tank with the sleeve.

If you read all my post, thanks, and I look forward to any guiding input.

Welcome to the VU. The Tarot nano is an 80 watt mod so your a bit limited as far as coils/tanks goes. I'd suggest the Smok Baby Beast or big Baby beast with the X4 Coils. You can get a good hit at 40 - 45 watts. The Aspire EVO is another good one.

Thanks, I read the beasts suck up the juice and the coils are pricey. Looking at the Aspire. If I'd known I would like vaping this much instead of the cigs I might have bought the bigger and better, but you know about hindsight.
BTW, Luv ya Lucy !

Welcome, Bob:wave:

I wouldn't discount the Big Baby Beast. It will suck the juice, but at 45W it's tolerable. Unfortunately, it's kind of a tradeoff. If you want a stronger hit, you'll usually need either higher nic or more juice consumption. Higher nic at 45W will be a harsher hit, also.

No experience with the Aspire, so can't give you a comparison.

Hang in there, though. Nirvana is always right around the corner.

Welcome! Unfortunately I don't think there is any getting around some trial and error of figuring out your preferred vape. On the plus side having a few pieces of spare equipment around is never a bad idea. I prefer to think of it as insuring piece of mind.

So True.
I was growing frustrated with the draw on the Tarot yesterday so I went back to the local shop and they suggested a crown 3 tank. I bought it and worked the wattage up to 40-45, even had to dial the airflow down a bit. Much better but still not the holy grail. Then I read that it's better suited to higher wattage, 80-90, due to the larger coil wire. Saw your post after I got home and it has me looking closer at the beast tank. Don't want anymore nicotine for sure, just a cool vape with decent hit.

Cormic, your spot on with a bit of trial and error. Over the past weekend I thought I should have a backup device other than that 1/2 pack of smokes so I ordered but not yet received a smok v22. That was the original suggestion at the LVS, then I thought I needed some more control of the device so next suggestion was the Tarot. Hope I like the pen but at $20 bucks no big if I don't, only meant to be a back-up.

Looks like vaping is going to stick with me. I'm thinking I can roll with what I have for a few weeks but I'll probably be looking again for 1 more full mod kit and move the others to the bullpen. Looking hard at the Smok products but even then there's alot to choose from.
Any help is appreciated.

Good to hear you're getting away from smokes at least. I do not want want rush you with this posting, please bear that in mind. What I'm presenting is only a later on and a you might want to try suggestion.

For a mod I use the CopperVape. At present I'm using a Goon LP style atty to top that mod. I use a lot of Kanthal wire to roll my own coils. They also sell Stainless Steel there. A good number here enjoy this kind of vaping which is called squonking. The first time squeeze a bottle in one the mods to get juice, you'll understand and it's likely you'll either fall in love or absolutely hate it at that point. :)

As for me, I love squonking. I also enjoy using a mechanical mod, one that has no circuits to go bad or to protect you from an explosion ... if it's going to explode at all. Don't buy into fear porn about vaping, especially not mechanical mods. Yes, you do need to be cautious. You need to be cautious crossing a street, too.

I have stopped using tanks on the principle of it. They no longer suit for what I enjoy of vaping and so I don't use 'em. Could not steer you to any of the better or newer ones any more. Having backups is always a plus, backups even of backups. :) I have some Evod style tanks around but hope to not use them any more, will not part with them though as they are backups.

Hope I've helped a little, even.

Looks like a cool way to go but that would be a later on deal. Not quite ready for that. Looked at non adjustable pen styles then thought some power adjustment function would be the way to go. After that it looked like temp control was the latest and greatest but maybe not. Seems few use it and I've had no luck on the Tarot even before I changed tanks. Some reviewers had same problems. The hunt is still on, thanks

Hey that does look interesting, seems to be some limited availability at the moment but that should change.
One of the reasons I will not feel bad about buying something else is the price of even cheap-o cigs is 40 bucks a carton...

But......You vape and you learn...was playing back and forth with the crown 3 and the vaporesso veco. Did not back the wattage down after changing to veco and hit it at 40 watts, Hello...great hit great flavor...I'm an idiot. I was way low on watts still trying to get used to vaping and pulling too long and too hard to get a hit.
But......I think I might have a new hobby.....damn

That's why we're here. :) Yep, got to watch out for all the fads. Once you find a kit you like, you'll be locked in on that. The rest will come and go by you like a blur.

Tonight, I am enjoying a rebuild what needed done today. I had fire snapped a coil leg on one side of a dual coil Clapton set-up. That just means I got my wire too hot, too quick and it snapped. Silly me with nothing better to do. :giggle:

So, I tossed another Clapton build on it. There was no fire. I pitched it. Happen to think I might have a discharged battery. sure enough. :)

Put a 30 awg Kanthal dual coil set-up on it after swapping to a charged battery. I didn't check the ohms on it but would hazard to say it is probably doing .5 - .7. I used roughly 6 wraps on a 3 mm inner diameter and when I've done that in the past, that's what it runs.

Now, if I can get a spork factory as part of my demands I'll not need to use the plastic. ;)

FNG's welcome here!!!

I recommend staying away from the TC gear, non-rebuild able crap and high dollar juice.

Get a good 80 watt mod that does VW, youtube coil building and get a decent RTA.

you'll never be stranded at 3am on a Sunday morning without a good coil and the vape are PHE-NOMMM-IN-ALL!

Welcome!

The amount of stuff with awesome sounding names and flashy colors is a blur, it's like falling down the rabbit hole...

Indeed. Welcome to a new world. :) Try not to get discourage, as mentioned from the fear porn. There are a quite a few deep pocketed interests which rather we return to tobacco. I wasted around 35 to maybe 40 years using tobacco. Recall a first rub of choke--fag around age 5. Some of the older guys had it and showed a few of us younger ones. Of course, from a little kid playing to a 13 year old man asking for a pack of Reds is a bit different.

Had a Pawpaw that took his grand-kids out with corn knives at the break of dawn. We took I do not know how many acres of corn down from sun up to sun down that day. Worked with the "old timer's" that didn't quit, had to do better than them to do good for Pawpaw. We got fifty cents pay for the day and we give half that back to Pawpaw, he kept the family pool.

Done a good bit like that and then some. It's what you do, life. :) Now, I'm worn down and see that folks taking any chance they got at other folks. That seems to have included tobacco along the way. Sad we were taught tobacco was honest for honest folk and find out different. Enough to let you fall in that rabbit hole. My wife gave me the first nudge by getting me some Enjoy cig-a-likes. They were alright but really they also were low end cheap and only did so well.

She kept on then by pushing the Ego style ones to me. I liked the Evod style tanks ( look up "ARO" and "ARO II", "T-Dux 3") but they too come in a bit short. I asked her why she was wanting to quit smoking.

"You jackass, I want you to stay around for me longer," she said. i still think it cut into her grand plan for the life insurance money, or all the ghost bucks I make. ;) :) I stuck to it until I found a buddy on that other forum that kind of converted me to coming here to learn about squonking. I followed some of his advice and now I'm where I am, with a half nice kit for meself.

I still chase some rainbows but done seen enough pie in the sky to be happy.
