Hi All, Anthony Vapes back here with my review of the Voopoo Finic Fish Pod Kit, please see the bottom for disclaimers and links. Note this is not marked as a sample version.

Introduction:
The Voopoo Finic Fish Pod kit is the latest Pod Kit from popular vape manufacturer Voopoo. They became really popular in 2017 with the drag mod that was a well built affordable mod when it released but lately have kind of fell off due to a long list of products behind the curve so we’ll see if the Finic Fish can change that. They have made some good stuff like the drag mini for internal battery mods and the X217 for a dual 21700 mod both of which don’t have a lot of competition, but their pods, tanks and the recent drag 2 have been disappointing. The fish is a unique style AIO Pod with refillable pods and a built in 350mah battery and is inhale to fire. It’s available in 6 colors Dark Grey, Blue, White, Cross, Footsteps, and Squama. Looking around online it’s available on pre-order only out of china for around 20-25 USD and pods run from around 3 bucks each from what i see so far so good price points.

Kit Rundown
The Voopoo Finic Fish is “fish” styled AIO (all in one) Pod kit, meaning there isn’t a separate mod or tank that can be used with anything else. It does have replaceable pods so you can carry spares, but those are sold separately and the coils are built into the pods so you replace the whole pod like a renova zero or innokin EQ. It’s a good size all things considered not super small but not large. It’s pretty close in size to a mi-pod. There is no adjustable air as well like most pods. Not a big deal but it is cool when pods have adjustable air but not really the standard these days yet so just a bonus when it has that. It has a average capacity of 1.7ml (so TPD compliant). The battery is listed at 350mah so a bit on the small side IMO. It features built in USB charging the list at .4A in the manual. I tested this 2 times with an inline USB meter and for the charge rate it charges at .41A max so good rating there. It charges full in about 1 hour. Battery size wise my 2 tests had results between 362 and 364 mah. Nothing way overstated from what they list it as, which is all i’m looking for so good ratings. It does not have passthrough vaping though which is odd. The drip tip is proprietary and part of the pod itself. The Voopoo Finic Fish is very nicely built, lightweight due to a plastic body and has a nice rubberized coating. The coloring is also nice. I got the squama one which is a multicolor design and looks like a tropical fish with scales. There is no wearing on the coating on mine so far.

The pods attach to the battery via a magnet system and are easy to get in and out and fit really well so good job there and fit it nicely with no wiggle or play. To remove the pod just pull it out. The filling is a standard rubber plug you pull out like many which works well. My complaints though are there is no air outlet hole and also the hole is too small for your typical fine tip plastic bottle. Made filling harder than it should be. I wound up using a fill bottle i have with a really thin metal tip which made it very easy. They should have made the hole bigger so you can insert a standard plastic bottle tip and have room for air to escape or an air outlet hole.

Usage is pretty easy. It’s a inhale to fire device with no buttons. No modes or settings or on/off. Just a really simple inhale only device. It mostly worked well but also at times would flicker on and off during a puff so the air sensor is not as good as it should be. I also had a couple of misfires. The LED is on the top and nice and bright and easy to see. When vaping the color lets you know the battery charge. They sadly don’t give specifics but based on the pics in the manual, Green means Full to 60%, Blue means 20-60%, and Red means 20% or less. Good enough battery meter not great but not bad. The pod is about half exposed so you need to turn it upside down or pull out the pod to see the juice level when it’s more than half empty. Also the pod is tinted way too dark. Not sure how many times i have to point this out in reviews, but it makes it way too hard to see your juice level. Clear pods would have been better.

Coil Performance and details
The Voopoo Finic Fish Pod Kit comes with 1 Pod only which is disappointing. All kits should always include 2 coils/pods. There is only 1 coil option which is a 1.6 ohm coil. No specs on wire material either. They didn’t send any extras so I only got to use the 1 pod it came with. I used all 50/50 and 60/40 nic salt juices 20-25 mg nicotine. With that said flavorwise it’s not bad. I’d consider it a tier 2. I’ve had better but it’s more than good enough for a pod system. It doesn't chain vape well though you only get 2-3 puffs then you need to give it a few seconds to rewick. Coil life wasn’t good either. I only got about 5 ml of usage out of it so half what i look for in a pod coil. Overall not happy with the life of this pod, but the flavor is good enough.

Pros:
  • color options (6 total)
  • Average 1.7ml capacity
  • Good build quality on battery
  • nice unique fish style
  • Bright LED for battery meter
  • nice rubber coating
  • good size for easy portability
  • good ratings for battery size and charge rate
  • charges fast enough (1 hour)
  • good flavor for a pod system
  • pods are easy to remove and install
  • good enough battery meter
  • price point for device and coils
Cons:
  • coil life is not good
  • pods fill hole is too small
  • No Passthrough Vaping
  • battery is a little on the small side
  • comes with 1 pod only
  • inhale to fire was iffy
  • Juice level hard to see (no juice window, dark tint on pod)
Conclusion
So with all that said, do I recommend this POD kit or not? I don’t like to do a hard yes or no, and this one i have to lean towards the no. Coil life was the biggest killer of it for me, but only including 1 of them, the fill hole being small, the air sensor being iffy, no pass through just too many issues to overlook for me personally. It’s a nice design, it’s small i love the rubber coating, but they need better pods and to fix some of the cons. I won’t be adding this to my spreadsheet of recs which is linked below.

This is Anthony Vapes just keeping it honest, hopefully you all can say the same and i’ll catch you on my next review.
