THey are coming along so beautifully. Im not sure anymore about all the "reds". When I was keeping them all I remember was there were a few that had alot of red but I only remember one called the "German" red and that was the only one that was apout 70 to 80% red. Some had yellow, some had blue and there was one called the "Super Reds" but there was rumors they were enhanced by some Asian breeders. Hard to say, but im positive they will be gorgeous.
Many times fry get mixed up when being transferred from tank to tank as they grow. I remember the breeder buddies I had said once in a while they would get caught in nets and they wouldnt notice that one or more would get in the wrong tank.
You might send him those videos and ask him what he thinks or photos of his adults and see how they compare as they grow up. Remember, they do change up their color according to mood and they might be trying to either blend in or show off?
