Anyone build SS rope for a wick on an RDA?

I've used them, but find them to be no more efficient than rolled mesh. If you torch oxidise the wick and/or coil, shorts should not be an issue. Back in the day, we wrapped open coils, which were prone to "hot legs"....I've found that if you wrap micros, this becomes a non-issue.
The only problem that i would see on a dripper is that SS will not pick up juice as well as a fibre. The reason they work so well in tanks, is that the wick is fully immersed in juice and is wicking from the sides as well as the end.
Well I found http://www.mcmaster.com/ from RIP trippers that sells mesh and rope cheap and wanted to try it out. Just wanted to make sure it would work. I'll give it a shot and see what's up.
