I couldn't find a thread for authentic mods. A place we can post pics and talk about authentic mods. I have nothing against clones I have owned a few I just love admiring the quality of a nice high end mod. Join me!

Of the estimated 40 or so mods I own currently ( I have cut way back) not a single one is a clone, same for my attys and tanks. I have been tempted at times due to the scarcity of some authentics but I have always resisted out of respect to the designers of the originals. Recently I wanted to add a Steel Punk Slug to my collection and looked very hard at the clone but decided to wait and yesterday I was able to buy an original from the classifieds on another forum and I am glad I waited. I would rather do without than own a copy.

I know some will say it is silly and a waste of money to have this attitude but at the same time I consider many of my mods to be not just a way to make vapor but as small works of art. You won't see copies of the Mona Lisa hanging in fine art museums all over the world because they can't have an original, they just do without that picture in their galleries rather than displaying a copy.

I don't feel superior to the folks who buy clones, I understand money is a very real factor in the vaping part of many peoples lives and budgets. However I know what I used to spend on cigarettes a month and I use that figure as a guideline for my vaping budget.

I agree 100%. I bought a few clones a few years ago when first started into mechanicals and rebuildables. But when I purchased my first authentic that was it for me. Id rather have 1 authentic than 10 clones. Just my opinion. I only have around 10 mods. Would be alot more but my wife limits me big time. Ive been vaping around 3 years and she says I thought this was supposed to be cheaper than smoking.

Well if you consider there is a Megalodon in that pic you kinda get an idea how long I have been collecting them. I have sold off more than I currently own right now. I just grabbed a few off the shelf in the vape lair for that pic.

I've been only vaping about 9 mos but my 4 mods are authentic as I don't do clones except RDA's. So I far I got 2 Provari's, 1 mech mod from Tatroe
and the BFM from BCV, which has become my favorite..

My little collection so far. It's taken me 3 years to aquire this, although the first year was ego styled stuff, then I had like a zmax or something like that. My first high end was the ss golden greek on the far right of the pic. My newest mod and my first DNA is the vaporshark rDNA 30 and I love it. Vape on people!

Is that munstro white or is that just lighting? Pretty sweet either way. I thought about getting one but never pulled the trigger.

I agree with a lot of the sentiments here. It's not for me to judge what others do or use, but for me and my dollar, I feel it's better spent on authentics. This is more than just not smoking for me, although considering what I spent on smoking, this is a worthy hobby and investment for me. Authentics, if properly taken care of, hold their value incredibly well! These are my authentics I've been collecting for around 6 months, and the wooden box is the ONLY one I purchased for retail from a vendor, all the rest purchased from the classified of various forums, FB groups, or won in raffles.

Correction....all are "authentic" except come to find out the Hcigar DNA35, the small black box on the left, a device I got in a group buy, is evidently a clone of the Vapor Shark DNA30 or so I hear....

It is white. The v2 is a copper tube with 4 colored sleeves 1 black and 1 white for 18650. 1 gray and 1 brown for 18490. The original munstro just came in ss, brass, and copper tubes. Thanks.

Super t has a good rep but ive never owned any of there mods. The only thing I'm not crazy about is how you adjust for battery rattle, you have to add and take away o rings. Just like on the super t precise simplicity.

Battery life and ohm limit. It helped pay for my vanilla and tugboat. I bought it 2 months before the rdna came out. If I had the rdna I probably would not have sold. I just would kill the battery so fast in the DNA then have to wait for it to charge. Loved the quality and feel.

I am in the market for a nice authenic, I have a few REO, dominus and iHybrid. I am looking at MCR, Glas, Paps. Now I am really digging the look of the Luxe chocolate mod. I know that it's one half of the LB Mods guys who did the versa I believe. Has anyone had any experience with it or similar? Is it in the same class as the ones I mentioned earlier? Any insight would be appreciated.

Out of the ones you mentioned the only one I have experience with is the paps which imo is amazing. The luxe looks awesome but is expensive even for a high end mod, and the glas is really hard to get I hear, like you-d prob have to pay flipper price. I know the chocolate luxe is in stock at vaperev for like 340 bucks. Another one to check out is the anatolian hit it mod at anatolianmods.com, I have a brushed copper with ss caps and I love it and I think there still on sale for like 150 shipped from Turkey. .

I traded my r-DNA for an Anatolian mod, liked it so much I purchased another and a spare tube so I could have all 3 sizes ;)

Best mod I've ever owned to date. I have no idea why, given the switch assembly and center pin is no different than other mods, but these Anatolians hit freakishly hard. I definitely notice a nice build on my RDA or Kayfun that hits just right on the Anatolian doesn't hit as well on other devices.

Both my first and second were clones (which I didnt find out untiI I left the local vape shop with them!) which are an Akuma mod and a 2SIX mod.. they're not bad, but I told the shop owner I wanted the best of the best... Anything with the word "clone" in it just doesnt fit that bill in my eyes... plus, Im a firm believer in supporting the original developers of the product and do believe you get what you pay for in terms of quality control and craftsmanship.

After finding that out I started looking around quite a bit for my first authentic mod... Then I stumbled across this thread and saw DJH's post about his OG mod. They are a work of art.

I just ordered this one off OGrepublic.com. I really like that side fire mech-- I'm not really too partial to gold, but this one seems like a great mod with excellent contacts out of the box: http://www.ogrepublic.com/shop/mechanical-mods/24kt-gold-plated-og-lockdown-mod-limited-edition/

Can't wait to get it! Wife is gonna be pissed haha

Sounds interesting--What are some good nationwide FB groups to join? Particularly the ones with classifieds...

Thanks!

Good luck. Post a pic before she blows a gasket. Hope you don't get grounded for too long.

No worries-- i'll just take her to the mall, buy her a MK purse with a matching outfit, shoes and she'll be fine. Works every time. LoL

Sorry to hear you had clones. That's my biggest gripe with clones people get screwed. I hope you got a good deal on them seeing how an authentic akuma is 240. Nice choice with the OG it truly is a piece of art.

Yup.. I paid close to $120 with Texas taxes for em' each. Saw me coming a mile away considering they go for more than 1/4 less than that price online...

It's okay cause I was going to refer some of my co-workers to the shop until I found that out.

Bad business practices if you ask me. Sooner or later people will catch on and everyone will be buying online. I know I am!

On a positive note: It still hits like a champ and I learned how to do my own rebuild there first hand experience so i'm not really too disgruntled. They have overhead and are taking advantage of the hot market on these things.. It's also the only vape shop in the "classy" part of town, so It is what it is!

Yeah that sucks 120 bucks for clones. Just this morning I ordered an 18650 super t workhorse for 75 bucks shipped at supertmanufacturing.com. it'll be my first super t mod but im excited, not that I needed another mod. The cool thing is I got the shipping email 2 hrs after I ordered it. Ill post pics when I get it in. Who needs clones when mooders are starting to sell authentic budget friendly mods. Im not on Facebook so cant help you there, sorry. But the classifieds on ecf is a great place to get good deals on mods.

It's the same way with my wife, she just doesn't understand why I need more than one, and honestly I don't either but I can't stop buying them. I do use them all though.
