HIC, unfortunately there are complete fuckwits who really don't care. Even though you stated bluntly not to post your formulations outside of the forum, daath did so without reservation, even used a fucking sockpuppet account to do it. It's shit like this that makes me really pissed off.

HIC...I don't post here very often, but it's disparaging to see this guy continually repost your recipes after you have repeated ask him to stop. I'm a new DIY and your recipes have given me so much inspiration.

@HIC Double check me here but I think this ass wipe finally removed your recipes. He has logged in on ecf many times since you posted but has not replied. I just checked the calculator and I don't see your recipes anymore. Please check on your end.

ETA: Nope, wrong. Well, sorta. It appears Hic's account is gone BUT another author has added what looks like ALL of HIc's recipes on January 8. LOVELY huh??

Took them out from under HIC's name and dumped them under another author on the 8th. BS!!!!!!!

Freaking incredible. This is the type of stuff that makes people with eliquid mixing talents go dark and not share their formulations.

Yup, I hope daath has all of HIC's and others recipes he needs to bulk up his website because I have a awful feeling these DIY'ers will no longer share their recipes etc.

    Daath is crippling DIY IMHO

I'm not sharing anymore. I'm pretty sure wllmc and HIC aren't either. It was only a matter of time. It's human nature. Eventually, everything good turns to shit at some point.

I helped a buddy who has a B&M by formulating a Pipe Tobacco Cavendish similar to Troost, which used to be one of my favorite pipe tobacco's. It's one of his best sellers. In return, I can get 100ml of it any time I want, plus the guy gives me vape gear that he gets as samples...I tend to PIF a lot.

Sharing a recipe on a site for the sites users and members should'nt mean having that recipe copied all over the net for profit, yet some pricks do it and are proud of it. I'm a commercial baker and a part time developer for Android apps. The apps I develop come with open source sharing clauses and prohibition for commercial use without a contract or negotiated deal with me. If end users want to use the apps - Great!, that's why I make them. If companies take my apps and package them with their app suites and sell the package, then it's go time for me and my lawyers.

All it takes are a few assholes who are willing to skirt common morals to fuck up a good thing, You are right Cramptholomew, sooner or later some asshole will fuck up something that is good - it's human nature.

I can NOT make myself 'like' your post. But I understand and your feelings are justified IMO.

I am new to FA flavorings so I am looking at every thread learning as much as I can about how the flavors work. I noticed wllmc's recipes now say under construction. There are some that are quiet pleased he is pulling his recipes.

I, myself, feel awful he is pulling them. I need that guidance on these flavors.

Yeah, that sucks from any angle I can view it from, but if you really don't want your stuff out there they only way is to not put it up and take down what is up. I appreciate all you guys have done it's how I learned everything I know. I got lucky I started when I did.
There is still many ways to contribute to the DIY community other then to just post recipes anyone that actually reads outside of the recipe part already knows that ha!!

Recipes posted are definitely slowing down. Everyone has noticed, it seems. Flavoring discussions carry on. Join in on the threads, take notes :). There's still learning going on every day. :) I have 1.5 notebooks of notes from threads here and from our former thread at the other place. Yes, there's a lot of chit chat, too, but we had a lot of fun in those threads. We've helped each other with PG/VG, nic, coils, equipment... good stuff in there. More and more people are joining in on this all the time and still having a good time.

always late to the party. stupid job. haha. usually constructiton slows down in the winter but not utility construction . icy roads = lots of smashed phone boxes and emergency work . anyways enough of my sad stories. I will explain myself a bit better. yes I have put most of my recipes under construction. I left a random few up but Im just staying out the recipe section and anymore great debates. opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. I let myself get sucked into these who's got the biggest stick battles when thats not my character. I already know who hast the biggest stick lol. but seriously when you cant post anything without some retaliation or constantly being called a shill and paid off for reviews it just totally makes you you want to say screw it all. Ive never been paid by anyone or given anything free other than the random free flavors tossed in, free syringe or my favorite freebie of all time was 3 tootsie rolls that everyone gets every now and then. I buy a lot of things with my own money and try them all and give honest reviews on them , not to say I am right but to give reviews for others to form an opinion or make an informed decision just to hear Im a shill. I havent been in high school since 98 so it was a bit frustrating and I almost walked away. I decided that wasnt the answer and I know even tho there is a hate camp there are also a lot of people who enjoy my reviews and contributions so I decided Id stick around and make 2015 the best year for DIY to date. thats funny people were happy I started taking my stuff down. I am re working a lot of recipes but I bet if you PM'd me Id probably still share some of them older ones with you ;) I'm usually around here and there still throwing my 2 cents in when it applies. Im always more than happy to help anyone anytime just no more debating opinions. its like debating government or religion, not worth it.

have to agree with you, there.. wllmc.. too much animosity, too many mind games, and we are all here for at least one thing..
and i found out, that is not friendship!

people just want recipes and tips.. never mind if they leave a thanks or not..

and we all share for many reasons.. mine was never a thought on popularity.. i just wanted to share good recipes i enjoy..

the heck with attributing.. no one attributes mine and i have many sites that can show none.. from my recipes..

i have had only one person since i started posting up, over 2 yrs ago ask me nicely if he could make a section on his site with my recipes..

so eh.. this is what it is.. share away..

Yeah you either need to be happy to share a recipe or happy to not share a recipe. Too much anger lately especially around the holidays. Hope no one takes it the wrong way just saying do whatever makes you happy lol it's all that really matters. If you're not happy change what you are doing. I am a happy guy :) I refuse to do things that make me unhappy haha.

    Exactly Smoky.

During my DIY research I have read a many a thread where someone posted "does anyone have a recipe for ......" and someone will jump in and post a recipe for them. The people that posts up the recipe get a ton of "THANK YOU's. You're a life safer" etc.

For a long while I assumed the recipes being posted were recipes the poster themselves created. WRONG was I.

The recipe that was posted was actually a recipe SOMEONE else created and the poster got all of the thank you's for it without even mentioning.. that recipe was created by so-and-so or that recipe came from the DIY section of so- and- so forum.

Once I realized what was happening, I began googling the actual recipe names searching for who created it so I could personally thank them for the recipe.

The thing is, I have found posts from the same people bitching, pissing and moaning that someone posted a recipe they created and never mentioned their name. AND these are the very same people who continuously would jump in and post a recipe someone else created, without mentioning who created it. The nerve of some people. And there are quiet a few of them who act like this.

you have to find a point to think, does it matter? if it did, and you cared who reposted.. keep it either private, or dont post it at all.. there are too many ways people can snag, change, remake, and claim ownership.. in the end.. why did one share? was it to claim "hey I made this because......" or was it made to share with the purpose of teaching, helping, showing it can be done, or was it done to be ______________..

    Exactly Smoky.

I dunno, maybe i am just, old fashion maybe the word I am searching for here. I just hate seeing others get the thank you's etc for work someone else did. That's why I would google a recipe someone would post for me so I could see if someone else created it and I could thank them for it.

I never told them hey, someone posted this and I found out you created it. I would just simply pm them and say hey, I saw this recipe you created and I wanted to thank you for sharing.

I guess I feel its right to acknowledge and also be acknowledged when and where it is due. That's all.

If it wasn't for their generosity of sharing the recipe, I and many others would have never had the chance to try it.

I PERSONALLY APPRECIATE the DIY recipe creators. ALL OF THEM.

I especially appreciate the people who link me to a recipe or mentions who/where they got it so I can thank the creator appropriately.

In a nutshell, Huckleberried describes what I like about the VU DIY discussions. I gain knowledge, pass on what I know and look at the posted recipes, sometimes making them and tinkering with flavors to enhance the original. I'm a copious note taker and like Huckeberried, I have lots of notes and spreadsheets I've put together. I'd ask the members who contribute to the DIY section of the forum not to pack up and disappear due to some asshats who hoover recipes for their online recipe databases.

I've learned a lot from HIC, Smoky Blue, Willmc, and Huckelberried. Some of the flavor pairings and combinations I would of never thought of without reading about how flavors combine and play off of each other. Thank you all, I do appreciate your efforts and help.

Daath doesn't care. His goal is to drive traffic to his online recipe site and monetize it. Vapecrafter and a few other eliquid businesses use these online DB's to mix and sell juice, never giving the creator a mention or credit. I've been reading some reddit threads, Daath is not well liked, neither is Vapecrafters. In my mind what Vapecrafters does is a form of plagiarism, taking research and the work of others and using it without giving credit, same with Daath. The fact that he created an account on his site using HIC as the user name speaks volumes about his character. For Daath, it's all about the money and nothing else. We have way too many greedy and morally bankrupt people in this world as it is.

    Well said sir.
I have started making my own things now. Most of them look a lot like something from one of these four here. If they know it or not they are the mentors and every single thing I know and do is in direct relation to each of their posts in some way or another. DIY makes me happy it's fun. I don't have a lot of stuff I can do but this is one thing I can do a lot of the time.

I always used the recipes as a learning tool. I especially liked the few HIC put up with several options it really shows you have dynamic recipes can be. I would encourage anyone to try to make their own creations, shared or not.

I've seen a few cooking references and I will try to use one also. I love to cook but any recipe I see I always think well I will add this or leave this out to make it even better!! That's the fun for me. However, you have to have made the dish at least once to understand what options might work too.

The kicker here is, he removed HIC's account, yes, BUT created another 'author' and dumped all of HIC's recipes into it. Each recipe within seconds/minutes apart.

It certainly feels like Daath is seeing HIC as his 'honey hole' doesn't it. WHY is it so damn important that ALL of HIC's recipes be on his site under a false account named HIC or something else? I think most of us know that answer ;) Damn shame.

I am trying not to single out HIC here, as I am sure there are others out there. But there are over ONE HUNDRED of HIC's recipes on that site that specifically begin with HIC. He wants to make certain people find the recipes.

I feel horrible for HIC. I hate to see ANYONE's generosity taken advantage of. BUT then, it does give him the message...WELL DONE. You are good HIC and this proves it.

I have learned alot from HIC's posts. BUT I have learned alot from EVERYONE's posts. I say it again....THANK YOU. each and every one of you for your contribution to DIY.

I too would like to add my Thanks! to ALL who have contributed to this endeavor, not just the innovators like HIC but also the many individuals who contribute to the conversation in any form, be it a question, a suggestion or even just a random musing. I find the varied dialogue incredibly informative and I feel it helps reinforce the concepts and ideas expressed here in such a way that I might actually be able to retain and utilize that information when I am attempting to create something new. :)

And this from someone who can't even make toast properly! :D

I'm not new to diy at all, I've been mixing my own juice for well over 4 years now but it was only after I started reading the old PV thread, the FA thread and the DIY section here that I really started to feel like I might be able to make something other than just 'vapable' juice. The truth be told, early on even my lackluster mixes were superior to a lot of the juices that were being offered commercially at the time. They were simply horrid! The newly minted vapers of today do not realize how good they have it at the moment given the wide expanse of top notch readily available juice that they have to choose from. But that may change with the looming FDA threat so I feel very fortunate and appreciative to have found this group of folks who keep setting the bar ever higher!

I hate seeing the environment here change but I understand and totally support whatever actions anyone feels they need to take to stymie the jerks who seek to profit from others hard work. It is distressing to see that Daath has chosen to ignore HIC's request to remove his recipes; I know he saw it because I saw him logged in shortly after HIC posted. I know I will not be using his calculator anymore and I will be actively encouraging others to do likewise.

Just over at daath's site and checked out the new Vurecipesforll 133 C/P. It does seem that although it is under a new name, they/he/her/whatever gives HIC credit for the recipe and even VU link to it. I picked about 10 at random and they all showed basically the same thing as below. At least that is something, but permission would have been nice. Now whether he leaves that info on there or not remains to be seen.

    Notes

You can leave out Blackcurrant (FA) to get a plain lime tart, or you can switch it with Kiwi (FA).

    Shake and vape!

This is HeadInClouds' recipe. Find it on VapingUnderground:

Yep and yep - that's my issue with all this.

Want to make a profit? Use free, online info and recipes to learn how to DIY. Then use your new skills to create your OWN great stuff to sell for profit. Or post and repost your OWN creations online, anywhere you want.

Those who profit directly from recipes intentionally posted as free by others are uncreative, profiteering leeches. They contribute nothing to the DIY community - but they do actively dissuade future contributions from others.

But people who have quit posting or removed recipes tend to be the creative type - perhaps creative enough to find away around this stumbling block.

I don't see it as a stumbling block. They may be uncreative, profiteering leeches who contribute nothing to the DIY community, but I think we should simply carry on. They are not stopping us doing what we do, and they are not taking away any thanks that any of us would've got had they not existed. Treat them as terrorists, if you will - the best defence is to let them have zero impact on our lives and freedoms. Losing the freedom to post recipes is our choice to make, not theirs.

I agree. It's down right deplorable that they take other's recipes and sell them. If we continue to let them affect us over what they are doing then there is no reason to even have diy/recipe section. The point was to share recipes to those who do DiY and are trying to quit analogs. I do not condone the actions of daath or vapecrafter at all, and I think it's a shame they use others hard work to make a profit. I am not sure what the answer is to how we stop it, but letting them drive the people away who love to share there knowledge shouldn't be it. Just realize it isn't only here that other peoples recipes are stolen; it's from everywhere.

I hope nobody thinks I've run off
VU is too awesome a forum to let the jerks run people off. I'm here, and I'm sticking around! I'm still reading and posting and mixing, just not posting new recipes anywhere. They're accumulating as I work on my plan to share without theft (I think it'll work, but it's gonna take me some time to finish putting together.)

Yep, another victory. Daath is being seen for what he is. So pleased to see this.

Every click on a link takes you to web page not available. The name of his calculator is now removed and it appears that discussing his calculator has been banned from ecf. ;)

@HeadInClouds I'm glad to hear you're considering a solution to sharing that's less accessible to thieves. I read an article about some high-schoolers that unwittingly "plagiarized" recipes in a cookbook for a fundraiser, and it has some interesting food for thought.

My 2 cents is since this regards information, avoiding thieves is impossible unless those receiving the info were abiding from the same code of ethics in the first place. Essentially, a non-public forum for finished recipe releases. I know that's blasphemy to speak of in a public forum, but my imagination can see no other solution to sharing info without thievery - among friends, there are no thieves. Also there's new opportunity for extensive non-disclosure agreements, hell even parred with real ID verification. I'm just spit-balling, I know this shit's old and I'm talking crazy.

Maybe if there was a way for part of VU to be view-able only by agreeing to non-disclosure, it would help deter some would be leechers. Or a section accessible by users specifically approved by yourself, a mod, or delegate. The smaller the group, the smaller the security concerns, for better or worse.

He just removed the link at ecf. Daath and his site still lives. I could post the link but I won't.

Also Vurecipesforll and the 133 still there!

I'm curious what his response was to Dan's question about why he had not honored HIC's request to remove his recipes. Unfortunately, those posts got deleted. However I suspect it was along the same lines as the anti-ecig zealots who imply it's all for the children; it's for the peeps!. *insert facepalm here*

He said he had hidden HIC's recipes, but another member had added them and he wouldn't remove another member's recipes. Riiiiiggggghhhhhht!

    Thanks Dan!

Yeah, I don't believe that for one second. If that were the case they would have shown up in a search and they did not.

Well, it's my belief that you reap what you sow so ... eventually! :)

I'm late to all this. As a musician I initially was put off by the trafficking of other people's creations. I'm the naive type that gives people the benefit of a doubt to a fault even, so I need a lot of proof to believe someone's lying (and not just ignorant) when they refuse to admit it. (not bragging; this trait has screwed me more than once)

This was the evidence I needed to realize the level of sleaze being dealt with. Just gross.

Hello, I don't wont to infringe on anyone's kindness with recipes that help so many of us along our DIY journey. But, in regards to re posting recipes... is it ok to save ones we really like in online data bases where they are set to private. I was wanting to use my eliquid account as a way to save and organize my recipes..

Thank you for your advice and thank you so much for all of your wonderful recipies.

since i know about website coding..
you take a chance with any thing you post.. public or private.
if someone owns a website, they can "drop" or download, their database and pretty much see what is being stored there..
but a lot of people use them to do just that..

with mine.. i leave it up to the user.. i dont share recipes that i worry about getting spread on the net..
want to keep something private? dont post it.. not in private or public.. :)

    hope this helps..

Thanks for the info, I'll be picking me up a note book and not putting anything on line. I don't want to infringe on people and their creations. HUGS
