In another recipe thread(Poke Cake), @Huckleberried mentioned another version of poke cake that caught my attention. It’s a cake(yellow or chocolate cake with holes poked in through the cake)with caramel and condensed milk(mixed) poured over the cake, topped with whipped cream and crushed Butterfinger or Heath Bar pieces. Sounds divine. Any interest in a new profile? I haven’t started developing this one yet, but I have ideas rolling around involving FW/JF Yellow Cake, FA Caramel, Pur condensed milk....haven’t figured out the Heath Bar yet....VT English toffee, maybe? Anyone wanna help give it a go?

Ok.....I’m not feeling particularly creative today, but imma gonna give it a shot.....

FW Yellow Cake 3%
FA Caramel 1%
FW Butterscotch Ripple 1%
Pur Condensed Milk 1%( I’ve never worked with this before. Any help appreciated)
VT English Toffee 1.5%
TFA Whipped Cream 2%

Just a skeleton of a recipe....I’m mixing this to see if I’m heading in the right direction.....

Edit....added 2% TFA Bavarian Cream. Gonna let it sit a night before trying.

Im going to mix this up with JF Yellow Cake and WF SC Milk instead and give it a go. Never had the PUR before, but looks good!
I may add tfa Bavarian to cream it up a bit.

Eh, let it steep for a week. It might perk up!

Tried this one. Very toffee/caramel forward. It’s good....might need more cake? More whipped cream or cream in general? I definitely like it, but I’m partial to caramel/toffee type things. I’ll try it again in a week and see how it changes. Mix it up and see what you think....

This recipe...is this "condensed milk" just evaporated milk? Or is it sweetened condensed milk, like Eagle Brand? I'm sure you know how ultra sweet and eggy that Eagle Brand milk is, and if that's it, I didn't address it at all in my recipe. The little bit of sweet cream I used won't hold a candle to Eagle Brand milk.

It’s the super thick, sweet Eagle Brand. Actually....now that I’m thinking about it, Dulce de Leche could definitely be a good sub, or maybe even a remix with that being the replacement for condensed milk/Caramel aspect. If you boil a can of condensed milk for a few hours, it becomes Dulce de Leche. Hmmmm.....

And I forgot about the somewhat eggy note.....maybe a touch of Custard Premium might do. Or INW Custard.....or even VCV1.

Whatever custards we choose, the mix will need more sweetener, too.

ETA: Oops. I am wrong. There are no eggs in Eagle Brand milk. It's just milk and sugar, boiled down to a concentrate.

There are no eggs, but I can definitely detect a custardy note...faint, but there. I think you’re right.

So I brought my version to the beach....yum! It’s good....very caramelly and rich. I think the condensed milk adds some lush sweetness and thickness to the caramel-butterscotch love affair. The Bavarian was a good call. The only thing I might change is bumping up the cake aspect. But otherwise, a nice solid recipe for those who like caramel/butterscotch.

@nadalama reminded me of this recipe.....

So I finally upped the yellow cake to 3.5% and switched out the TFA Whipped cream for Caps Vanilla Whipped Cream@2%. Love it!!! IMO, it’s momentarily done.
