I just don't get it. I know its what is being used in pod systems. But what is it? Is it a crystalized substance you dissolve in your flavoring? Is it liquid?

And what is the difference between using it or regular old liquid nicotine in your DIY?

is their a cost savings or something

why do I keep seeing posts about people using Nic Salt? What is the advantage over liquid nicotine?

My understanding is it is supposed to be less harsh and deliver more nic on inhale. Maybe my taste buds are too damaged or unrefined but really cant tell a difference between salt nic and regular liquid nic. I have several bottles of salt nic juice and literally cannot tell a difference.

Nic Salts are supposed to be smoother and also absorbed faster from what I know about them. Maybe @David Wolf can give you more information on them as he is the person I know who has the real accurate information on them.

it's just PH neutral, instead of alkaline

you can make it yourself from regular nic by adding an acid, like citric acid from the supermarket

Its not that its supposed to be smoother, it is. In smaller levels its not a huge huge difference difference in throat hit but, it is still a big difference. Yes its pretty much needed for pod systems. I just mixed up some 40mg for my icare2 and it has zero throat hit. I also use 8 - 10mg in my RDA's I dont care what type of freebase nic you buy, at that level in an RDA you are going to feel it in your throat and like my pod juice I mix I also get zero throat hit at those levels.

I love it for my DIY, I am so used to it in fact-I cant even stand to vape 3mg freebase anymore.

Its more stable, has lower PH, its pre-metabolized so its more easily adsorbed in the body when compared to freebase and enters the body quicker its feels more like nicotine that you get when actually smoking. Could you make it yourself? Never tried I have see others threads about this but I would not try personally seems to risky to mess up something that others have already perfected and at fare prices.

In order of what I would personally buy:

Thanks for the replies

Ok let me see if I understand.
Pod systems don't produce as much vape so they need high mg/ml of nic.
freebase would produce too much TH at 48mg etc
so nic salt is used because it is smoother and has way less TH at higher mgs then freebase
But down at say <12mg there's not much difference

DO I got this right?

When I first began using it I was at 2.5mg. I tried 6mg with the Salt and that's a big increase. It's very smooth, but it does have a serious kick. I definitely was vaping less as I went from 25-30 ml per day (squonking) to just about 15-20 ml (workdays). But I was getting even more nicotine as measured by difficulty going to sleep. I've dropped down to 5mg and it seems to be working better for me.

I saw @SteveS45 alert and @bobnat
Posted a link for you to a previous post of mine (thanks Bob), so I don’t have much to add other than I see a lot of excellent posts here about Nic salts.
Nic salts base costs more than regular Nic, but diy Nic salts is a lot cheaper than buying Nic salts ejuice.
I won’t ever go back to regular Nic I’m spoiled by the smoothness!

I agree with you, David... the smoothness is hard to beat.. the rest.. well all depends on volume and location. :)
