Checking in ~ Gov. Cuomo FINALLY decided to stop all non essential businesses!!! Starting Sunday night in NYC.

I also feel this should have been done earlier! I have been at work all week, commuting, possibly exposing myself because, even though we had absolutely no freaking work, we were still open and if I took off if would be coming out of my sick/vacation time.

I feel perfectly fine but I'm pissed I had to be here all week. Even now, I'm sitting here in my office w nothing to do. Gov made the announcement, and we can't even leave early?! Fuck

Where are you in NY? I’m in Queens. Cuomo found time to be anti vaping this year, but he’s dragged his feet for sure with corona.

Stay safe, Obi.

Checking in - all is well as can be under the circumstances

Got the wild chicks yesterday - guess Hawaiians are hoarding live chickens, because there are no laying hens to be had right now

Here in the UAE, all schools were shut down two weeks ago. The Ministry ordered them to do online teaching. My university moved our spring break up and now classes begin on Sunday, all online. No one was ready for this. We're scrambling as we are learning Blackboard.

The good part has been this past week my youngest son started up classes using Google Classroom. I've worked with him every day and it's been enjoyable and a great bonding experience.

The scuttlebutt now is that this is going to last the rest of this school year. I like being in a classroom. I'm not looking forward to this online method. The bright side is I can vape away to my heart's content as we were told to not use video cams in order to conserve bandwidth. I will have to turn away from my mic so they don't hear my RDAs gurgling and popping. :)

Today I spent the morning in my normal Friday pay the bills routine. Then I went TP hunting again... much to my surprise I actually found it! Now crossing fingers they don't cancel the order. Still healthy... Chris is doing okay on the road, he hasn't seen anything totally bizarre yet anyways. The truck stops/restaurants are doing curb side and carry out. I seen where a Sonic created a separate drive thru just for truckers, but I don't recall where it was at.

Gov today basically said that people in Ohio are not doing what's being asked of them. And if necessary he has shown that he has and will use his power to FORCE them to. I have a pretty strong feeling we'll see a lockdown before Monday. They are also working with the Insurance companies to allow for employees affected by COVID-19 shutdown to not lose their insurance. And our congressman is working on something with "War Bonds" that would create funds that could be given to all the business owners that were forced to closed.

I believe it is the State and not just the City.

Hun, you really should watch some news or maybe check out the Times. Two days ago there were 3,615 cases in NYC.

Oh, it was one death. Sorry! I’m in an area that’s fairly far from the City, so it feels slightly “safer”.

The crazy thing is I watch BBC and ITV news online. I just haven’t watched TV in a while, but if not now, when?

I’m glad you’re around to remind me not to be a nitwit!!:hug:

Please be very careful Trixy, I am glad you're staying inside. Not many are taking this seriously. We even disinfect everything that comes in the house because of my immune.

Jimi my hands are so dry from washing and I am cleaning clean utensils and surfaces before before I cook or serve. I have 2 people here in a high risk age and one is on Oxygen 24/7 and the other with a heart condition. Not even letting them answer the door if the bell rings.

You need to get hand cream. If your hands get dry and/or crack, it could let germs or whatever in. So moisturize!

@Rhianne as far as I know there is 1 confirmed case on Long Island who was an International Traveler. Don't follow the Post because it is FAKE NEWS.

I’m not sure there are any in Queens. Except that cabbie they brought to Elmhurst Hospital!! Which is not close to me. But lots of people use the subways here, but maybe not lately.

I’ve still got to finish stocking up. Thank God for online shopping!!

Great idea for a thread. Thank you and lots of love to all. Things here are starting to blow up and well, the land of the casinos, I knew this was coming and actually surprised it took this long. So far for the most part we are fine. They have cancelled some important doctors appts for both Dave and I but nothing that's gonna kill us if we don't have them. I might get uncomfortable without getting the injections for my back but there are people around us a lot worse off than I am. VA has shut down and pretty much all other medical offices too. One place called me and said they would call in a prescription for me but the pharmacy is OOS. It is what it is. Not life threatening.

These are some scary times for us all and I hope and pray all of us get through this as painlessly as possible. We all stick together :) I'm sending out a little care package to someone that didn't have masks, as we have some extra. This is what "family" is for. I'm glad you are my family. You don't think of these little things and then when something like this happens...............

About the only thing I can think of right now that we are low on is dog food, but we are supposed to be getting a delivery by Monday. I will give my animals chicken if I have to. lol they will not go hungry. By god I will drive north a little bit and go hunt if it comes down to it. That might sound extreme, but I will if I have to!! I hear quail is mighty good eating :)

We got this!

Oh I meant to add that when Dave did go to the store he said it was just eerie feeling. Shelves all bare, only a handful of people. He found like 3 loaves of bread on the shelf. He took 2 ( he said he felt a little guilty taking more than one ) I told him not to. Most would have taken all 3. One was a loaf of Hawaiian bread. I had forgotten how much I like that. :) Frozen food aisle wiped out and of course no paper products to be found. We have a fair amount stocked up from before.

Water company has said they will not disconnect anyone right now for not being able to pay their bill. I would hope the other utilities follow suit. A lot of casino workers are going to be off work.

Jimi!!! Good to see you, dear! We're in same situation. Early lock-down due to compromised immune systems.

Those with compromised immune systems, please, please stay safe. I know, I sound like a broken record.

My immune system is quite poor also. I am already sick BUT I do not think it is the virus. I have a sore throat and head congestion. But no cough or fever. I took what precautions I could when I went to the doctors too. Wiped everything down used hand sanitizer etc. Then had to go to the pharmacy and kept my distance from others best I could. Didn't matter, I still caught something.

( I should have just stayed in my car and gotten it at the drive through window, but they had a huge line of cars) I have been this way for years since having to go through a pretty nasty treatment to get rid of a virus in my body. Damn treatment hosed me, but I'm alive. So avoiding the public is nothing new to me. I seldom leave my home. Dave does all the shopping etc as he doesn't want me getting sick.

Funny how I always just accepted it, but now that it's more serious, it bugs me! I would LOVE to go out to dinner or something or somewhere!! Poo..........Good thing I have an online game I play and of course the testing I do with SC. That helps quite a bit.

Sorry, I'm rambling. I know.

Checking from NC. No mandatory shutdowns here yet. Still working. Power company won't shut off for the month of March Thank goodness. Grocery store yesterday no beef except expensive steaks. We don't eat steak so she left them. Kids are getting wild from no school. Half mile off the main road so they're outside playing as much as possible. Stocked locked and ready to rock. Be safe everyone.
