Darling we have some asshole vapers here at VU too...
Still, I got the pics of my spinal column from my chiropractor 40 years ago.
'Gita has a cd with her cat scan.

I have some lovely films of MRIs of my back, in the L4/L5 region. I can't make heads nor tails of them, since I've never trained to be able to read and interpret such things, but I'm told they show a small benign tumor near that area of my spine. Which is mainly interesting because my father had a bullet in nearly the same spot, which could not be removed due to fears that the spinal cord would be permanently damaged -- hence he could not have MRIs, which, if he could have had them, might have been able to see the cancerous tumor in his lung before it was too late to do anything about it. :(

You're on. Does CDN $1,000 sound good to you?

I'll propose these terms: I provide a copy of my email exchange with Dr. Farsalinos, the names of the three 2014 lit reviews I discovered, and a selfie dated tomorrow at 10:20am of my doctor and I holding an x-ray of my lungs between us.

We can exchange email addresses via the moderator for the funds transfer.
That's really funny, I didn't quote your post, that means I wasn't talking to you, go find some sugar water

Just back from my doctor, read the rest of the comments here and looked up the definition of ANTZ. Fuck off. My mod's an SMY SDNA 75 with a Cleito tank; before that an iPV2-D2; before than an iStick 30W; before than an Innokin iTaste V2; before that an eGo e-Smart; before that a JoyTech pen; before that Benson & Hedges 100s Sapphire (half a pack a day).

Nobody's attempted a critique of the lit review I mentioned here, not for lack of motivation but in all likelihood because none of you has access to the journals. Yet your knowledge is inviolate. I'm sure you're all comfy with this state of affairs but to an outsider who doesn't assume a medical conspiracy you come across as a bunch of reactionary rubes.

My opinion as a lay person with MD's and lab techs in my immediate family
AND as a long time vaper
is that you are either an ANTZ fear monger which we get MANY of
or a vaper trying to sound smarter than you are.

Yea that.
I'd bet money on it

Weasel.

dudes like you

Free-thinking and well-read dudes?

Try [ECF], maybe they'll play along with you.

And be healthier for it.

if you're paranoid of what vaping nicotine might do to you

LOL, any paranoia here is ALL yours.

that gambler that you want to bet money and swap pics with is a moderator

Is a weasel.

X-RAY RESULTS

The x-ray itself wasn't in the office, just a printed assessment. The highlight:

"The lung fields are somewhat elongated, but no diaphragmatic flattening or increased retrosternal radiolunency is seen to suggest COPD. The appearance might merely be on the basis of the patient's build, but some degree of bronchospasm would be difficult to exclude and clinical correlation for this is thus advised"

The clinical correlation was last week's tests, which were just fine. My doc offered to refer me to a specialist, which I'll do in a month if my lungs are still fucked up. So I don't have COPD. I have a stubborn chest infection that's persisting months longer than any similar illness I've endured. The only difference this time around is I'm vaping, and a 2017 lit review of medical research explains that aerosol nicotine undermines healing and is a likely culprit.

Meanwhile, this community dished up nothing but contempt. Goodbye, good riddance, and fuck right off.

CORRESPONDENCE Oct 2, 2015
FROM DR. Konstantinos Farsalinos <[email protected]>
SUBJECT: Re: e-cig + alzheimer's
Unfortunately there is no studies of e-cig use in such patients, however, we do know that nicotine is beneficial for Alzheimer's disease. I am currently on a trip and with limited Internet access so I cannot search for studies in nicotine. In any case, you will not find anything about Alzheimer's and e-cigs.

Hi Dr Farsalinos,
[SNIP]
Unfortunately, to convince my brothers to negotiate with the retirement home (to add e-cig maintenance to my mother’s daily check-in), they’re asking for evidence in the form of peer-reviewed research into the efficacy of e-cigs with people with Alzheimer’s.
If you know of anybody working in the area, I’d love to contact them and would be in your debt!

Zod, for what's it's worth I don't think you are a ANTZ but you have to understand, there have been numerous threads started here where the OP attempts to blame vaping for whatever aliment they might be suffering, i.e., 'I've got a rash in my nether regions, I'm pretty sure the vape did it' . :D

After awhile, folks are gonna be skeptical and for good reason.

I do have to commend you though for seeking out information that might help your mother ... that condition is a hard one to have to deal with and I wish you the best in your endeavors.

One other thing I thought I might add -- I realize that in "old smokers", inhaling to the lungs is a habit, but with vaping it's neither very effective, nor even desirable, for a couple of good reasons: a) it's not very effective for nicotine absorption, and b) many vapers ARE "old smokers," with concomitant compromised lungs, and as such, really shouldn't be inhaling anything into their lungs other than air and their various breathing-related medications -- I regularly huff albuterol and Advair as deeply as possible into my lungs, but I'm trained myself to inhale my vape even more shallowly than I inhaled my cigarettes, for exactly those 2 reasons. Certainly some vapor still gets in there, which always results in greater constriction and wheezing, and I have to go back to making a conscious effort not to inhale past my throat.

So, rather than just blaming vaping in general, @Zod , perhaps you ought to undertake to change the *way* you vape -- abandon huffing vast clouds and return to tight-draw MtL, and don't inhale past your throat; vaporized nicotine won't absorb well in the lungs in any case, so you may as well just leave it to the oral, throat, and nasal mucosa where it is most effectively absorbed. Strictly up to you, of course; if you'd rather just believe that vaping is evil, feel free... but there are ways to vape which won't endanger the lungs at all.

Thanks. For the sake of anybody finding this page while searching for advice regarding e-cigarettes for a smoker with Alzheimer's: my family intervened at late middle stage, which is too late. Even though e-cigs are the most effective smoke cessation device yet, taste better, etc., the quitter still needs to develop a new habit and still needs to tap into a reservoir of willpower and of self in time (memory and goal). The new habit never gained purchase.

I know this post went out of control and it was some good debates and I like that lol but back to my orginal issue. I went back and got my x-ray done and my pneumonia is gone and my lungs are clear and so is the whizzing so I guess the stressing can stop for now
