I have an eleaf ikon 220 with a crown 3 tank. Got a semi-dry hit off of it and figured it was time to change the coils. Did this, primed the coils, put it in, made sure the juice was good in it, turned off the air and sucked through the top without triggering it. Still got a dry hit from it after this. It's been sitting for an hour and I'd think the cotton would be pretty good right now.

    Any thoughts?

Ok, I may have figured it out. I took the tank off, cleaned the bottom out like I always do. But then I took the base off of the mod. The part on the mod where it provides power to heat the coils had juice all in it. I cleaned it out and washed it up real good, put it back on, and no more dry hits so far. Actually there may still be a little in there I couldn't get to because I can still taste it. Either that or the dry hit is just staying with me in the back of my throat for now.

That's what I did to start. I changed the coils, then the new coil was giving me dry hits. I cleaned up the bottom of it and now no more dry hits.

Cleaning the 510 probably improved electrical contact... good electrical contact is required for good regulation and operation of the mod.... bad contact leads to bad readings... bad reading mean wrong amount of power is supplied..... bad contact also affect How power is transmitted from mod to atty. Dirt adds resistance.

Could be that the new coil head just needs to be broken in.

I'm betting it has something to do with the coil as well. Going by my experience with uwell, it should start dry hitting again in no time.

One Dry Hit and a coil is toast so it is time for new. There is no way to cure burned cotton inside the coil. Do an autopsy on that coil and I bet you will be surprised.

This did it. I didn't have a pin so I just used something to rough up the cotton a bit. Once I did that there were no more dry hits. All seems normal for now. Hopefully I didn't ruin the coils too much. I have spares but I'd rather not waste them.

alot of times the cotton in premade coils, especially crowns is packed tightly , putting a few pin holes in it lets the juice soak in much better
