If not for one MAJOR issue Annie Milbourn would have had the answer to the problem.

The issue: it is AGAINST THE LAW to sell vaping products for their intended purpose which is smoking cessation (or switching).

Once the reader understands that the FDA has clearly stated that vaping products are not allowed to be marketed for smoking cessation even telling vape shop owners that even mentioning smoking can get them fined it causes this entire article to become pointless. - 5150

"Allow me to translate: If you have never smoked a cigarette, stay away. If you are addicted to cigarettes, this is an alternative that isn’t as horrible for your lungs as a true cigarette is.

Their marketing and advertising is leading people to believe that since they’re not smoking a real cigarette, there is nothing harmful. This is simply wrong, and the reality is in the finest of prints.

While they aren’t technically marketing that it’s good for you, they also aren’t marketing very heavily that, once again, it’s simply not benefiting your health in any way. "

Things get kind of sketchy when you ARE NOT ALLOWED BY LAW to market your product for it's intended purpose. - 5150

Also there are study in which around 75 to 80% of Americans believe the total opposite.
That vaping is "as bad" or "worse" then smoking regular combustible tobacco cigarettes.

Only 17% of Americans were smart enough to answer correctly that vaping was "much less harmful" then smoking.

"If you are like myself and have never smoked a real cigarette"

In other words the author is utterly clueless.

"This is the equivalent to saying if you’re a liquor-drinking alcoholic, you should maybe switch to beer instead."

She needs to edit this sentence and add the word "false".

'This is the false equivalent to saying if you’re a liquor-drinking alcoholic, you should maybe switch to beer instead.'

Vapers are not quitting nicotine, or trying to quit nicotine. They are quitting the additional chemicals found in tobacco smoke.

I wonder if she uses the same false equivalent for those that use nicotine patches or gum.

Annie Milbourn is a junior majoring in journalism. Her column runs biweekly.

in other words .....besides never actually having smoked a cigarette she also has never done alot of things adults do.....like think, and seeing as how she is interested in a degree in Journalisim it's apparent she has no real desire to begin critical thinking. but rather gather the accolades and benifiets of being a good propogandist.

Yep. What do you bet her parents didn't smoke either?

She should go talk to someone who has actually seen what happens when a multi-decade, multi-PPD smoker transitions to vaping.

I suspect she has learned from her parents that people who smoke deserve to die horrible deaths...after all they are stupid people, they partake in a habit that is deadly and refuse to give it up.it shows their inherent stupidity...smokers are also weak willed and psycologically flawed people who rely on a chemical crutch...smokers should have the intelligence and fortitude to go to their therapist and get some anti-depressants and go to a weekly drum circle...
