My ears started to ring after started vaping, this happens when i have lot of coffee or alcohol but its very low noise and goes away after hours of time. but after vaping it didn't stop for 2 months now(one side of the ear ringing but some times both starts to ring also when i yawn i can hear a crackling noise coming from my ears, its like something bubbling in there?), i love vaping, i dont wanna go back to tobacco but im kinda depressed from this ear ringing. i went to ENT doctor, he said there is nothing outside the ear must be something inside :/ anyone has a experience like this? will this ever go away? i heard this is because for nicotine overdoes or PG. Again, i really love vaping, it made me clam down, please share if you have any insight into this problem.

I can't see how it could possibly be connected to nicotine OD. If I do the maths I am taking in far less nicotine now than I ever did with a 2 PAD cigarette habit. (Only about 10% of what I used to intake.) I also had tinnitus before I started vaping, I just didn't happen to notice it more after I started vaping either.

I see lot's of known causes for tinnitus.

Hearing loss in older people
Exposure to loud noises
Ear and sinus infections
Heart or blood vessel problems
Meniere's disease
Hormonal changes in women
Thyroid problems
Certain medicines
Earwax buildup
Abnormal bone growth in the ear
Stress and depression
Head or neck injuries
Benign tumor of the cranial nerve
Long-term aspirin use

I don't see "nicotine" or anything vape related in those lists. And I'm sure you mentioned your vaping to your ENT, right? Rather than looking for medical advice on the internet?

Why people think everything that happens to their body after they start vaping is somehow vaping related I'll never understand. (And for the record - no, rectal bleeding isn't vaping related. And yes - I have seen someone ask that question in a forum.) I think it's time to call the disorder vapochondria.

Ive been impressed w e cigs for the past few years..Now I'm insulted that were not even together about they're "legal" standing since 1963. How has this Asian guy been getting recent credit for them if they were invented in 1963 by this Herbert guy?

I question that as well.

I have had tinnitus for many years before I started vaping.

If vaping can cause it, one would think that if you already had that condition it would aggravate it as well.

And it hasn't.

I vape 50/50 juice and my tinnitus is worse. It's been mentioned in the forums many times by different members, most going to high VG to lessen the tinnitus.

@HeadInClouds have any input on this?

Tinnitus may be caused by allergy, high or low blood pressure (blood circulation problems), a tumor, diabetes, thyroid problems, injury to the head or neck, as well as a variety of medications including anti-inflammatory medicines, antibiotics, sedatives, antidepressants, and aspirin.
Again NICOTINE is a VASOCONSTRICTOR
Stop vaping with nicotine!
OBVIOUSLY OP had the disease And made it worse... go see your doctor and request for a COMPLETE blood work up, get a physical, control ur blood pressure, go see a specialist that specializes treatment of tinnitus, request for blood vessel scan,angiogram... good luck!

I've seen a few posts by reputable members that upped their VG ratio because of the PG causing such. Granted they'd have to answer as to any scientific research, or simply just discovering the matter.

It's well-documented that PG is ototoxic. Here's one source: http://american-hearing.org/disorders/ototoxicity-from-ear-drops/ but you can find many others. This isn't new info; here's mention of it from 2003: http://www.tchain.com/otoneurology/disorders/bilat/ototoxic_drops.htm. ENT specialists have written about vaping, warning that PG circulating as vapor throughout our sinus cavities can cause this problem.

Obviously it's not a problem for all vapers - who knows why - but it was for me. I've had tinnitus since childhood, but it got far worse within a few months of starting vaping. I transitioned to max-VG and it returned to normal. I began vaping more, and it returned. I began using less flavoring (most of what I use is PG-based) and alternating with unflavored. Again it went back to normal. That was a few years ago now.

I've heard from many other people who suddenly developed tinnitus or whose existing tinnitus became worse when they began vaping. In many cases they've let me know using less/no PG has worked for them. Some have had to just mix with less PG. Some have had to use no PG at all - switching to flavorings without it or unflavored. Also notable: some people have found immediate relief from whatever change they've tried, but others haven't noticed improvement for weeks/months after reducing/eliminating PG.

Thank you for the information. I've had tinnitus for many years, since my hearing was damaged in the military. I haven't noticed it getting worse but damned if I'm not focused on it now.

Increase in blood pressure does it to me.
NIc can increase blood pressure as caffeine does.

Anyone else with slimier experiences ?
Now that you mention it I remember being so paranoid that one of my devices was gonna explode that I thought I saw the air warping around my tank when I'd press the button like the air does around a lighter. That happened several times. I'd be vaping and then start thinking I'm seeing that warped air looking thing happen that lighters do and I'd quickly sit my vape like several feet away and go back to using my desktop vaporizer. And when it would happen I think I do recall thinking i heard a ringing sound like pressure building in a capsule..But I figure i was just imagining all of it since it doesn't happen anymore

Ditto, but not military, "sudden, profound hearing loss". Some days are worse than others, and trying to find patterns over the years, when I'm overly stressed, the ringing is severe. OR... as you said, if I'm focused on it, lol. It's always there but I've never noticed it worse from vaping. I joked with my Doc, that since I hear the ringing, I should hear more :D

The only thing I've been able to identify that makes mine worse is loud music. I've never given any thought to it, really, I just ignore it. I don't even know if there's anything they can do nowadays. Perhaps science has made some progress on this front?

None that I've been informed of, and I ask frequently, LOL. Mine's worse with stress, sometimes when I've not slept.... stress. Like you, I don't always notice it until someone brings attention to it :slowclap: :D

Tinnitus is the least of your problem...
It's not the vape that gets to ur ears, it's a blood circulation issue, every time you consumed or vape NICOTINE, you create narrowing of the vessels, less blood flow...
Smoking cigarettes is the reason you have tinnitus in the first place...
Go see ur doc, control ur blood pressure, exercise, eat healthy diet, no junky saturated foods, vape 0MG NICOTINE,take some Meds until symptoms are gone... this can be cured, you just have to make adjustments....

I BAM

I had a similar case. The doctor said that it occurs when the connecting tube between the nose and ear are blocked.

Sometimes it seems to go away, sometimes its very apparent.. I often wonder if it's when I manage to 'forget' about it that it seems to disappear.
I used to get a bonus tinnitus tone somewhat randomly but fairly regular.. this would be during a noticable spell of typical tinnitus but then I would get a new lower tone at maybe double the volume. It was like someone switched on a tone generator at 2000hz or something.
Ive been cig-free and vaping for 15 months now, for sure I would have had one of these bonus tone blasts by now.. but I havent. So, maybe this is a good thing.

Vaped 50/50 at 6mg for the first year, then stepped it down to 3mg.

I've had my ears ringing as well. However I'm attributing it to new medication I am taking.

I've had this issue as well, although I can't point to any specific studies that would suggest vaping is behind the cause of this; you should try vaping less to see if it's the reason behind your issue. If so, try stepping down you nic levels gradually until you're comfortable. Intake of too much nicotine can lead to headache & feeling faint... So if anyone of those two symptoms occur along with your ears ringing it's a sign that your nic levels are either too strong, or you're vaping too much.

We are not doctors you should really seek assistance from a qualified healthcare professional. No one on hear can rule out or confirm what this could be..

My Tinnitus still hasn't subsided. Someone asked me when it first began. I can't remember, but it's been within a year I believe.
I'll call my PCP to make an appointment. I haven't seen him for over 2 years. He can give me a full physical w/labs, etc.
I'll have another chest x-ray and compare it to the COPD film last taken since I stopped smoking.

My tinnitus gets worse when it gets quiet, never from vaping. Maybe need to put some tunes on when chain vaping.

reviving old thread...I have had ear ringing as well, started about 6 months into vaping (not sure if its the culprit).
I switched to 100%vg non flavored but doesnt seem to make a difference. Been vaping 7-8 years. I have been using analogs as of late, ear ringing seem to be less. When i vape more i notice the ringing more so im guessing there is some correlation to nic. If there was a 0mg liquid that gave same throat hit as 6mg i sure would use it.

ear ringing could also be the result of an ear infection or even a jawline infection putting pressure on the same system that makes your ears pop and regulate air pressure

I signed up in this forum to assure you that e-cigarettes ( I used MYLÉ) diffidently causes ear tinnitus. I have just started smoking few months ago (when Coronavirus came out) and started working remotely due to the pandemic and curfew regulation in my country. I NEVER had the ear tinnitus, but I experienced it when I was smoking the Energy Drink flavor of MYLÉ excessively and then tinnitus started. I did not what the ear tinnitus is or what was it called until and visited a doctor and explained what noise are my ears suffering from and then he told me that it is something called ear tinnitus.

Last and again, this is my personal experience and I am telling this shit (e-cigarettes) caused me the ear tinnitus that I never had before I start smoking the e-cigarettes. I have an appointment to do ear tests on June 28th and I'll see if there is something to do and make the tinnitus goes away.

Quitting smoking ...

There is a high-pitched ringing in my ears that I'm just used to. Fortunately it's not very loud and seems like white noise to me. But still I can't fall asleep sometimes. Having surfed the Internet, I found out about several tonal types. I'm thinking about trying Otoharmonics, a sound therapy that allows patients to listen to their personalized sound match.

I suffer that. I also have to watch my carbs as I have an issue with processing them. It causes impaired fasting gly....whatever it is. Basically it mimicks diabetes. Watch the carbs and im good.
Why am I saying this? Because one of the symptoms is frequent urination. This naturally causes dehydration. Vaping without keeping up the fluids can do so to, dehydrate.
So I suffer tinnitus, mildy most times.
But before I realised and found out about my carb issue the tinnitus was much worse than now. Now I control the carbs and urinate normal, dont dehydrate. The tinnitus is mild.
But, now and then when I heavy vape guess what happens SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS between the ears in my head. Going heavy on the vape and not keeping up my fluids robs me of fluids, dehydrates me and SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
Its not the vaping directly causing it. It is having a predisposition to tinnitus or an underlying issue of it that comes to the fore when dehyration occurs. Dehydration tinnitus is not commonly if ever spoken of or even on anyones radar, Drs included. But it is real.
Drink up, water, you may be surprised.
It does not surprise me one little bit to hear about anyone complaining of tinnitus after vaping. Its not the vape directly, its rather the underlying problem it exposes.
