Down toward Vidalia Onion country.

I always have to enter combat mode when driving thru Hotlanta on the interstate.
Hell with speed limits and drive like hell.

Talking to a buddy of mine in Atlanta yesterday and he was telling me he cant drive on the interstates anymore. His nerves cant handle it. This guy is a retired USN submariner who spent 20 years in and then worked extensively with law enforcement and his nerves cant handle Atlanta Interstates. Now thats saying sumptin.

If you was born 100 years ago, ya wouldnt even know what AC is. People dont like to admit it but we are a hell of a lot tougher than even we think. I cant breathe when its hot also. I would just have to move slower and acclimate to it. Sure I would be bitchin 90 to nuttin but I wouldnt die if the AC never came on again and I believe the majority of the people would survive just fine. When hurricanes knock the power out for months you dont see death toll from the heat. People learn to live with it.

I never said you or anyone would want to Andria but I believe your tough as nails when it comes down to it and you would survive just because you are tough. I talked to you many times and I know there is steel in your backbone. And thats meant as a compliment!

But I WASN'T born 100 yrs ago, merely 57. 100 years ago, I probably wouldn't even still be alive, since they had no really effective means of treating asthma then; the cervical dysplasia that was diagnosed when I was 22 thx to a Pap smear and then had removed with liquid nitrogen, wouldn't even have ever been found; I'd simply have died around age 25 of cervical cancer.. We didn't have AC in our home till I was 9 yrs old... but I didn't have asthma then. I do now, and if we didn't have AC with its dehumidifying effect, I'd likely spend a large part of every April till October in the hospital, with an oxygen canula in my nose -- oh, wait, that wouldn't work without electricity, would it?

If this, if that, if a frog had wings it wouldn't bump its ass on the ground. I live NOW, and I have asthma NOW, and no, without AC to enable me to breathe easily, my life wouldn't be worth living. If I managed to survive at all, between gasping for every breath.

People can be ingenious when pressed. Know we used to use creeks lain in with stone built up tanks. We put all kinds of fresh produce in these except dairy. At times we dug out spider holes, these were usually holes dug big enough to hide an adult. These could be utilized as foraging cellars which could keep foraged goods cool. Spider holes could also double as hunting blinds or cache points.

I am expressing agreement with @chopdoc, human beings are persistent in their desire & will to thrive. We are continually innovating in the scope of that, electricity or not.

Weird experience I had just a few moments ago. I was looking at the video below.

When he took the shot for chamber six our electric flickered off and back on.

Yes, I'm in a bit of a rough state. No, I'm not thinking suicidal. Figured the video
was some kind of illusion or stage magic. Usually such illusions help me
"lighten up". Yeah, okay no more of that now either.

Not a parent of human children but it doesn't make me feel comfort knowing
Google/Youtube host such a video so blatantly open to even human children.
It would seem like that would merit some kind of ethical or moral qualm for the
company. Then I recall, "anything for a buck", not that that excuses or justifies.

Excuse me thinking, feeling, being human.

Ok... and how exactly do you dehumidify Georgia, without electricity? All of you seem to be missing that CRUCIAL point. I don't run the AC because I'm so intolerant of heat, although to some degree, I am... but hot summers in Michigan weren't unbearable, and very few places have AC in MI, because it's just not necessary... and neither is it so goddamn humid, either... though Michiganians seem to think it is, with all their lakes.

WITHOUT THE DEHUMIDIFYING EFFECT OF AIR CONDITIONING, I CANNOT BREATHE. It's exactly like trying to breathe jello thru a sponge, and it is that way in Georgia from April till October.

I didn't really miss that point. Not sure if it would help much in your case but folks get Terra-cotta spheres with holes in them and place these down stone bowls of water. The spheres don't touch the bowl edge. Water is absorbed and released through the spheres. It helps keep the air moist or can alternately draw moisture from the air back down into the bowl. This likely would only suit room to room indoors. Another idea might be to set up condensation water walls. These are specif kinds of tarp material that is used to draw moisture and water vapor from the air. The water can then be drained from the tarp walls into containers for use. Enough of these set up strategically might put more of dent in humidity outdoors.

Not claiming to hold all answers. I know though that human beings always seem to make truth of the axiom, "where there's will there's a way."

Guess when the purge comes we need to keep GA with electric then. Reckon we can use tide turbines and harness the sea & hurricanes to bring juice up out of FL. Need to be having juice there anyway for Uncle Walt. Don't want him thawing out yet.

Morning fugee's.

Dont mind me while I grab my soap box for a min :p

I dont know about yall, but I am totally disgusted with the main steam media. Was watching all the shit this kid from Kentucky and his family been thru because the media hates Trump so much they will even lie about and put a kid in mortal danger just because they hate Trump. The feeding frenzy was so great they even had hollywood morons offering blowjobs to whoever harmed the kid. I dont give a damn what any kid did, you do not instigate violence against them. They are fuckin kids for christ sake. A country musician even offered a reward of all his albums, signed for anyone videoing the kid being hurt. WTF. Thats what fake news does to us as a society.

I am a firm believer in all our constitutional rights including the freedom of speech. Yet there should also be consequences for what you say. Yeah I know, you cant really have freedom if there is consequences but damnit. this bullshit needs to stop and the media has no intentions of being anything other than fake news. When it comes to kids being put in danger because of their desire to do anything possible to put the president in a bad light, then something needs to happen to reign these haters in.

It sounds like the bleeding hearts have found a new cause to act like idiots about. Poor kid. In any fracas between the gov't and Native Americans, my sympathies are completely with the Native Americans... but that one guy seems to have just wanted to be an asshole to a teenager, and that is just wrong, no matter how you look at it -- one teenager is NOT the freaking government! Just goes to show you that every "race," every religion, every nationality, has members who are assholes. Just can't avoid it -- they're human beings, so the 10% rule applies, and there's just no getting away from that 10% who fuck everything up for everyone.

First part of February I go for colonoscopy. Had the orientation, consult today. The doctors in charge both sparkled. Wife asked me if they seemed too overly Stepford. Thanks to my mom this will need to be done regular. Thanks mom for immediate family history of cancer. I really didn't have anything else to be concerned over, no, nothing at all .. except life trying to kill me. Well, better scoot. Have to not sleep in the office chair again, as much as its comfortable.

Yay! Made it to bed around 2 AM. Slipped on the C Pap, felt my little dog come up between me and wife. Probably two minutes later we were out completely. Got awake around 8:30 or so. Wife had already gone, she had 9 am work shift. Think I'm gonna go wipe down the kitchen cabinetry, get a coffee and veg a bit with the telly. Yee ha, so much fun today. Can't afford hobbies even if I could get interested in something. Maybe later on I might get into turning some pottery, not sure, we'll see.

Here I sit pondering, ... Dead Rabbit SQ or continue on with Gorge ... *looks for a coin*

*grumbles, yawns and farts in no particular order, aims toward wind prevailing in the direction of D.C.*

Reckon Gorge it is, ha! Does that make them werewolf fart smellers? That must be a special breed of fart smellers. I just hope they're pretty fart smellers. :D

Got myself out of work, housework is caught up. I might could swab the galley and heads but they ain't so bad yet. Might wait until they start crawling. Not sure yet.

Need to get some money ahead to buy a bunch of Swedish Fish candy. Need it to do a video prank of a Swedish Fish navy to fight the Gummy Bear army. Need to do this too when she's at work so I can set them up and then film, bag them and eat them up over the next three or four weeks. It'll have to be at least 2,000 of them to match the Gummy Bear army.

I know it's kind of dorky or even nuts. I don't care. I can genuinely say I'm brain damaged from birth. That means I like nutty stuff like that. :)

Morning fugee's and GFY :)

The more I have to deal with the medical industry the more I am convinced they are mostly all idiots. Last week when my cardiologist was releasing me from the hospital he told me He wasnt going to make any changes to my medicines until I came in for an office visit two weeks after getting out of the hospital. Thats was ok with me. The I find out I need ot pick up a prescription for an angina medicine they was putting me on. I thought the doc meant everything else I was taking was the same then because he said no changes until office visit. I go to see my family doctor yesterday for a post hosptial check up. Usually I blow visits to his office off unless I am about dead with a cold. Now I am glad I went.
My doctor went over my medicine list he had printed out from the hospital and went over it with me. One med was changed from daily to every night. Another heart med was dropped all together. And not one single person went over this with me when I was getting discharged. The doc even told me no changes. On the new angina med I was getting black outs from major head rushes ever time I stood up. My eye sight went to shit on it and my breathing was much worse. Now today, taking my meds they way my family doctor was telling me about, all the symptoms are pretty much gone. What a group of incompetent idiots.

Its sad when you have all these specialist and only your family doctor has any common sense.

For what its worth fugee's. Seen this a bit ago on the FDA trying to eliminate vaping.
https://observer.com/2019/01/fda-ov...ARCAT21mNFQ44DMZK6dk-P7w7loh_CGKFOgmQxDL-K3rU

I have stopped & given much thought to this issue over the past little while. I think the financial incentive to China is too great. What I mean is that China has began to realize the government can rely upon the vaping industry as a cash cow, not that China explicitly needs a cash cow. They have plenty as it is with cities filled with empty apartment sky rise complexes sitting empty. They use these as write offs for big corporations, as investments of insurance for the shareholders. If the company starts tanking, it sells off a few "developments" and has easy cash on hand.

That noted vaping has become a rather large industry unto itself, in China and globally. What? You think China is going to allow the pathetic no state of District of Columbia to stop a viable industry? Sorry, that won't happen. There can be all kinds of other taxes, and trade wars but D.C. will do nothing against vaping, it cannot. It is kind of the straw on the camel back, the pin that lynches. Why so? Well vaping is one of these odd industries. It's a new breed of something very ancient. It is a do good, feel good industry. It does good by saving smokers lives. it feels good because the industry can only grow and continue getting better with consumer oversight. "Give us your kind words to product better for you." It is a full on Win Win industry.

Ban flavors? I'll just shake my head. There's plenty of DIY folks out there what can read from web sites, get materials ordered, mix up some flavored juice in no time. Does that offer superb clean and quality juice? Yes and no. The yes because you have the companies who then need to compete with Sally down the road who makes a damn fine peach cobbler flavored juice, and at half their cost. The no because well, Sally has been mixing her juice out in her kitchen, while a kitchen is generally clean in folk's homes, a negative pressure clean room that the company has might be even more clean. So there's a balance even if flavors get banned, if you want flavors you can get 'em easy enough, oh, eek, so can the kids you're trying to stop with the banning of flavors.

So on point, I do not see the FDA being capable of achieving much of anything now. They're kind of being made irrelevant. Heck, the federal government was shut down for a month, people stepped up and helped one another out, they'll do it again too. In that sense then the federal government is becoming irrelevant. The people will take care of the the people. The people are aware of the lies and corruption. The people will take care of the people.

Yes, I just said the "tipping point" is Now. :) Welcome to anarchy, enjoy our freedom. :)

No, I didn't plan it. I'm a doer not a planner. *he says shoving the blueprints into an unmarked and nondescript locker* "oh that? Just some check list notes on what I needed to do from the planners." :D :) :p

@chopdoc , I'm back to writing bud. I said fuck all the advice and just started writing something this morning. Got maybe two pages so worth. Point being it's a start and I have a rough idea where I'm going. Know publishers/agents like all this other crap(synopsis, outline), I'll pull that crap off with a can O' Dazzle when I go to market the story. I like just writing and letting the movie in my head meander to words on page, to me that's the process "working" and it seems to "work" for me. I try the "advice" and it's Charlie Foxtrot, may as well get the shovel. Well, I gotta, .... coffee, focus, positive. :) Stabbing people wrong, since when? *stabs a people* That's the most fun of the day. :)

*chuckles* Not so sure it is talent. Think it is a seeming always need to tell myself stories, being alone a lot in life. Need the company of the characters. :) What better way to utilize all the voices in a person's head. ;) :D

I ought not to have posted what I did, at least the political stuff. I apologize. I let the fingers run off. Will pay better attention. I count Bob @The Cromwell as a rarity, a friend and I need to not run him off by discussing *ahem* car parts.

Got some vape mail yesterday. :) A new to me Gloom mod clone came. So far I find it an interesting bit of gear. Minor con for me seems to be the access cap on the bottom where one puts the juice bottle. It might have been made a little differently to let a person be able to have better tactility over the cap. I'm sure with some patience and a measure of time, that'll not be a bother. The mod has a silicon bottle. "Kinky. I likes it, I really do, I likes it, ... I might need to get more silicon bottles now. I actually feel and see the difference over PET bottles." :) ;)

Just a bit of ear worm for us before I go attend a fierce & a need for coffee.

"OMG! I found someone else that likes my favorite band 21 Pilots. What is your favorite song by them?"

Think kitchen sink suits many of us as a description. Well, I better get to, ...

I woke up yesterday to find it was already 72 degrees, at 11am... so I got on the phone to an HVAC company, they came out last night, and today we are getting a brand new HVAC system -- not just the AC, but the whole damn enchilada, since, upon inspecting the blower which resides in the furnace, it was determined that not only is the AC 19 yrs old, but the furnace itself is 11 yrs old. Since we got a heck of a deal to do this whole thing, we decided that was an excellent idea... because even the AC won't work, without the blower.

Hopefully should save us some money on our cooling bills, and possibly heating as well, though maybe not as much as the cooling bills; when we first moved here, our first summer was 2012, and even July-Aug electric bills were like $165 for the first several years... but the last couple years, we've had OVER $200 electric bills from June to September... so clearly, that AC was about on its last leg, as we unfortunately discovered back in September when it stopped working and required a $300 capacitor to limp thru the rest of the heat.

Well, the two yrs here in the apartment with electric cooking, central forced air & heat we've only averaged about $90 monthly on an electric bill. Every now and then we see a $120 month but these are exceptions. Been kind of pleasantly surprised myself in how low our electric costs have been. Of course, I am recalling living with her sister, bro in law, and their two boys with electric bills running from $300 to $600 monthly using gas (cooking as well) and firewood as heating. Then, atop that her sister was still mooching money off her and needing her to help her cook.

The bro in law not even apologizing for bashing her light blazer suv into a barn post after he had been told to let the vehicle set due to snow conditions, was her last straw. And yes, I had assertively told him to let it set. I knew she had tried rocking it out of the snow entombed drive, in low 4 wheel and it was spinning, fish tailing and just seemed to have been acting as though it wanted to stay stuck.

She had arranged for her dad, just down the hill, to get her to & from work. Ah but the bro in law had to show how great of an exceptional know it all, be all to end all driver he is. Damage included the passenger front door smashed and warped out around the post so it could open the once but then not close proper, the front fender nearly into the wheel well, the back passenger door glanced but still buckled enough to realize it wouldn't open.

Yes she had left the keys in the vehicle. It was an oversight on her part, she didn't figure anyone to be dumb enough to try ripping it out of the ice and snow race car driver style. I don't drive but even I knew better, knew it needed to come out slow, gradual and avoid or be aware of how to control skidding. *shaking my head* He never bothered apologizing in any way, let alone offering to pay for repairs.

She let her insurance total it out as repairs would have paid for its total Blue Book value on low end, which it was fairly low end anyway. They had no problem in totaling it out, the agent even said she thought that was best. Did bro in law's insurance do anything? Ha! What insurance? Wife's insurance settled for state uninsured kitty's ante.

Another reason she had left the keys? Well, I being the husband what didn't learn from Never Again Volunteer Yourself, volunteered to dig it out and let her dad bring it in to her. Knew he could drive it well enough as he got short listed to drive military convoy vehicles in any weather, any conditions. Besides that he had years beyond experience to know sometimes shit happens no matter how good you genuinely happen to be.

Prime example, he never saw the truck (pickup) that t boned us in her big heavy Ford blazer, in town. He was completely shook from that too. The state trooper on scene told us he thought Mr. Coors was driving the other driver, probably missed the big red light and rammed on in blindness.Yes, my wife was a bit upset over that too. But given what the trooper told us and what followed, we knew it wasn't her dad being out of line in his driving. Shit happens.

Now, me and her are awaiting her windfalls to start coming due. Then, we're going to be looking for something in the $30 - $40K range, a bit of land, maybe a piece out and away from folk. We want to have our dogs and be able to let them roam within reason. We could have before had some not decided on being assholes.

Turns out the dog that we got told was attacking the couple's wife unit was not even one of our dogs. Also stands to reason, *****, possum, fox, coyote, skunk all will eat chicken or leave it lay after killing it. Gee, we had each one of those predators in spades where we lived.

They could just ask the sheep farmer over on their other side. He killed coyote often enough and as a matter of course, loved our dogs coming up and getting in his flock. That's what our dogs were bred to do specifically, be sheep protecting dogs. They go hide in a flock, look like sheep and wait for a wolf, coyote to come in and then run off or kill wolf/coyote. We knew they watched out for his flock, and a herd of cattle up along another hill. Never saw any of our dogs kill a chicken, always carrying a long cold and dead chicken to one of us. "Look, one of the little ones got, got, mom, dad. We're sorry but can you fix the little one?"

So, yes, .. We want a place we can have a small pack of larger dogs roaming and keeping us safe. Also getting a herd of cats as well, won't be having any rats on the place nor mice. Might even bring in a ferret or two just for fun. Soon, Beast Master once again I shall be, claiming my rightful name of Dar. :) She has been getting knick knacks, yarn, more yarn and oh yeah more yarn here. I've put my foot down, she can have the house. I get the barn and outbuildings. I'll have a small pottery studio at the very least. Get there day by day, little by little. :)

For now, think I better, ...

*(garbage panda, what I wrote I do not consider any kind of slur, Hillbillies, Southerners call raccoons that from little up without any thought of it meaning any form of human being, white, red, green, blue, purple, yellow, black. In this case I say fuck you to political correctness because it is misappropriating what I am actually saying and taking it to seem I'm saying something else. I am both Souther & Hillbilly, if anything I ought to raise a stink about how I'm being discriminated against by not allowing me to say what I mean without need or fear of it being censored, made to look as though I'm saying a slur for ******, which I'm not. I do have black friends, some I consider family. Some of them I call *****. I know the other way of saying it means trash, in any skin color, social status, economic status, religious status. I am in this case not slurring any human being, yet political correctness damn sure will make it out I am. And fuck Spell Check as well and its Auto-Correct algorithm that is for shit.)

EDITED BY MODERATOR RACIAL SLURS REMOVED

You do know the word Raccoon without the Ra in front of it automatically reverts to ****

Mods have nothing to do with it, it's kind of a fail safe to make sure certain slurs are not used

The other two things you tried to slide in are seriously not nice, even if your friends don't mind you saying those words, a lot of other people do and it is one of the few rules on VU

We live outside Houston near the water. Humidity is a major thing down here. Add the tempt of 90-100*. And most people become miserable . So last year we took a road trip without destination,, (my fav kind) we ended up all over Colorado,, everywhere we went everyone complaining about the brutal heat..... 92*+No Humidity =aka right next door to heaven's gates. (people in Houston would have paid cash for that weather) We sat outside every night enjoying the comfy weather . My point is everyone is acclimated to their own area,,,ability to change /adjust is relative to the strength of their minds .

Or the strength of their asthma! Being unable to breathe really doesn't have much to do with your mind.

We got that new HVAC system installed! Took 9.5 hrs to do the whole job, but now I don't have to worry about being too hot or too cold; $99/mo for the new entire HVAC system, and free service and maintenance for life, including filters. Such a deal!

I agree with you about heat with low humidity -- people in Michigan complain about summer heat, but I found there were really only about 2 wks of summer heat that really needed air-conditioning, because of the humidity, versus 6-7 months here in Atlanta. June in MI is farkin PERFECT, 85 and no humidity; most of August isn't too bad either, and by September it's already starting to be autumn.

Afterwards with some thought, I figured that it was hard coded to the server.

Yes mam. I apologized and shall indeed do better. I honestly admit a touch of laziness when I posted. I've cleaned those words up and used a few that while may be a bit negative are a bit more socially responsible.

No, that was me. I was being rascally & lazy. I have learned by the grace of @f1r3b1rd dropping the book on me. I think it was the Atlanta Yellow pages as thick as it was, might have dented my skull. I deserved it too. Sorry you needed to moderate Tony, but also glad you did. I was having a rough day at that point. No, not excusing but reminding myself it is no excuse.

Huge grats to ya Andria :)

Well, it certainly explains a LOT about our prosperity in the last few years -- over $10,000 in less than 5 yrs! I remember very well all those paydays, wishing I could make the money stretch even a little further, wishing I didn't have to spend that $88 every payday on something I'd promptly turn into ashes.

I've got a buttload of vapey stuff, though nothing like as much as some folks round here.... but the best thing, aside from the fact that it keeps me from smoking, is that I STILL HAVE 90% OF EVERYTHING I'VE BOUGHT -- aside from the consumables, mods that died, or gear I've sold or given away.

I figured out back in 2014 when I first quit that I was saving around $5,000 a year. I did start smoking again but havent smoked a cig since around october last year when I was in the hospital. So I would estimate I probably saved around $15K from not buying cigs and probably spent around $5K -$6K on vape gear. I never was one to buy a lot of e-juice, making my own since around the beginning of 2015 so most of what I spent was in mods and tanks and batteries of which I have a ton of.

I really dont see how people can justify the cost of smoking in this day and age. Even $1K or $2K a year is a lot. Now that I am disabled/retired I watch the money a lot closer having that added expense isnt what I want to see.

Well, until I found a way to quit smoking that eliminated the suffering, the cost, while regrettable, was really kinda irrelevant -- I HAD to do it, so the cost really didn't matter -- I'd go without a meal or two, if I needed to, to afford cigarettes. Raising the cost of cigarettes by raising the "sin tax" on them didn't make me quit -- though it did make me switch from regular VA Slims to their 120s, so I could smoke each cigarette twice, first half and last half.

What nobody seems to have taken account of, is that if you let the gov't put sin taxes on deadly items, you've given the gov't a reason not to want anyone to stop using those deadly items -- I mean, that's just LOGIC -- clearly, no one in gov't or "tobacco control" is even slightly acquainted with it. So now you have all these "public health" nannies, many of whom suck the gov't tit, still hollering for people to quit smoking... yet the gov't has NEGATIVE interest in ANYONE quitting smoking. I wonder how long it will be before gov't cuts the nannies off that gov't tit?

Of course, then you have Big Pharma paying for the gov't they want, so maybe they're underwriting that gov't tit for the nannies. It's all too Machiavellian for me.

When the government gets involved, we the people are usually screwed.

I had a kinda-sorta understanding that gov't was corrupt, for many years. It was only when I switched to vaping that I came face to face with the truth: gov't would rather every single American smoked and drank themselves to DEATH, just so that gov't could keep harvesting those sin taxes -- nobody in gov't gives one single shit about any of the people who put them there, and pays their salaries.

I also had no idea exactly how corrupt BP is, the fact that helping people get over this or that ailment is the merest side effect of BP's ever increasing thirst for profits at EVERYONE'S expense -- they make Dracula look kind and benevolent.

And in this modern world, there's no longer any place at all that one can go to escape all this corruption and greed -- BP is multinational, not just an American evil, and I daresay that BP is one of the biggest causes of that infamous law about corporations being the same as persons. God knows that CDC and WHO are every bit as corrupt.

I'm 57, will be 58 in May, and it's possible I may not live to see any justice brought home to those who've created this massive cancerous evil... but maybe I can live long enough to help bring it about, eventually, by refusing to shut up, by spreading the truth as far and wide as I possibly can. Even if I never live to see justice, helping to START it would make mine a life well lived.
