ECIG BAN!? – WHAT is Going On in China!?

RUMORS: Will there be a China Ban on Ecig Sales, Distribution and Manufacturing?

If you haven’t yet heard, articles, like this one from The Standard in Hong Kong, are now circulating indicating that a complete ban on ecigs in China is imminent. The article states: “Council chairman Antonio Kwong Cho-shing suggested that e-cigarettes be comprehensively banned, including sale, advertising, promotion and sponsorship, distribution, importation and manufacturing.” Vapers worldwide are concerned as to how this will affect the market, and their own lives. We went to one of our favorite Chinese vendors to get the scoop. Doris of Focal Ecig had this to say:

The articles “need to differentiate between Hong Kong China and Mainland China. Hong Kong China is sensitive about ecig products and nicotine both in the past, and now. Meanwhile, Shenzhen (in Mainland China) is the primary city for producing ecig products. There is an upcoming convention for ecigs this month (April 9th to 11th), which is the 1st ecig exhibition in Shenzhen. ISCIS (International Electronic Cigarette Industry Expo) will be held on April 15th to 17th at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center as well. This is a sign that the government is aware of the importance of this industry. There is no reason to ban ecigs in China mainland.”

She went on to say that advertisements for the upcoming convention are displayed prominently in many metro stations with the heaviest traffic in Shenzhen … something that has never happened before. Some ecig organizations have even invited governors to the convention on April 15th. It hardly seems like the actions of an industry scared of being imminently eradicated.

In short, if the manufacturers and vendors closest to the situation aren’t concerned, we see no reason vapers should be either.
