Personally, I grew up with Zeppelin, and I'll love them 'til the end, but I've been listening to The Black Angels non-stop these days.

What's your all day listening material?

My all day listening material is shuffle. It's a mish mash of everything from Sinatra to Eminem, to Metallica. With that said, Collective Soul will always hold a special place in my heart.

I can dig all of those. As far as rap goes, I like more conscious stuff like Black Star, and the Roots - don't get me wrong though, I can get down with Wu Tang, and Jurassic 5 though.

Jazz/Crooners, I like Sammy Davis, Jr. and Wes Montgomery.

Metal - Queens of the Stone Age hands down - so sardonic, like the kind of guys who could laugh at Doug Stanhope.

I have to admit, I'm more of an album oriented guy, so the shuffle thing doesn't do it for me.

I'll listen to just about anything these days - though I still can't stand most pop music.

Mostly listening to prog metal like Born of Osiris, Animals As Leaders, After the Burial etc... I love the Black Angels too! Also been digging on Mariachi El Bronx lately haha

I don't really like country, but I can really dig rockabilly. The chicken pickin guitar styles of Danny Gatton, Brian Setzer, and even Chet Atkins have influenced a broad range of great music, from Jimmy Page to Josh Homme, Rory Gallagher, and of course Mark Knopfler.

Don't really like a lot of the 80's, and 90's hard rock. It comes off too processed and saturated for me... But Floyd, love Atom Heart Mother.

I've listened to Animals as Leaders, they are solid. I'm more of a hippie, digging on the neo-psychedelic train rampant in indie music. I mean, Austin, TX has an entire week long festival devoted to new Psychedelic Rock.

Shuffle is generally when I'm at work with my iPod. When I'm home, it's whatever I'm feeling at the moment, so I get what you mean.

Someone mentioned Setzer. Oh yeah.

Growing up, I always thought I was born in the wrong era. But, I love music from most decades. We have a few music threads going. Music is just that powerful.

The music someone listens to says a lot about them!

I use to think I was born in the wrong time, because while everyone was listening to the drivel on the radio I was at home with Cream, Freddie King, and the Stones, but then I realized... What better time than now? I have infinite music on tap with Spotify, and can find not only great old gems, but tons of new musicians who were doing the same thing in their youth. It's beautiful really.

Setzer keeps revamping older and older stuff, it's pretty badass. I'm a big fan of Romantic Classical, and he even did some of that :O

My dad used to get a kick out of me singing along with Jimmy Durante. I should say, my attempts to sing. I played those discs on repeat all day. He'd beg for something different. Music is just food for the heart.

When I was younger I played Zeppelin III on repeat so much that the CD broke XD

My parents didn't like that I was so in to music, so when I wouldn't get my hair cut, there was a burn pile in the back yard of my guitars... Crazy in hindsight.

I've heard the Minutemen, and I dig them.

I also really prefer early Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green before the Stevie Nicks came in and ruined e'rything.

What do Hawkwind, and Pentangle sound like?

Pentangle is English folk music with a Jazz influence:

If I didn't hint it strongly enough before, at some point there's going to be a big let down. But I'll just leave it with this for now (Pentangle):

In Time

Light Flight

Most of their stuff is more folky, but still cool. They were a big influence on Jimmy Page.

Hawkwind is space rock, more so in the 70's, more synthesizey from the 80's:

@Fishee ...I know ya a metal head but did you ever hear the original recording of Motorhead by Hawkwind? ( My Fav band)...Lemmie was in HW before he started his own band...This original version has violin and sax in it

Lemmie in HW way before Motorhead..1972

As to Fleetwood Mac, to be fair, Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks rescued Fleetwood Mac from several lost years well after the original band broke up. Peter Green's medication makes it hard for him to keep going, Jeremy Spencer is still part of the religious cult he ran off to, and no one's heard from Danny Kirwan, whose alcoholism got the best of him, in ages.

Maybe check out Pennykumquat or maytal1980's profiles on last.fm and beckyblue's profile on Pandora. Those three chicks and I have really similar taste in music. Pretty eerie, really...

The Beatles, without them I'd have still found my love of music, I think. ;)
I consider Lennon and McCartney to be some of the best songwriters ever.
George was no slouch either, although imo, didn't come into his own until near the
bands end. I love this version of "Something".

You all have to take to the streets and demand Pandora!!!!
My dalliances with last.fm were flings, yes, but I've been betrothed to the musical genome for six years. No one has ever anthropomorphized an algorithm as much as I have. Most people don't get what they should from the service. It's all about the thumbs. The genome needs those thumbs to purr. I don't use Spotify, and I buy way, WAY more music than I can afford.

Penny (Penelope when she's been naughty, which is to say very rarely) is only the greatest mutt EVER to walk the earth. Remarkably, she's sleeping in my own humble kitchen right now.

Hey, speaking of the Beatles, this was a sorta fun watch from the end of last year (more fun the more you're into celebrities, I guess) -

I can really dig Pentangle, it reminds me of a spacey Wes Montgomery. Definitely gonna check out their albums on Spotify.
I like Hawkwind, but if it came down to a choice between them and Deep Purple, I'd be taking Deep Purple.

As for Spotify vs. Pandora... Spotify all day. Pandora always seems to give me things of zero relevance to what I'm listening to, and it's annoying.

I had '66. Sergio is for me. Specially the girl . She tranquilizes my hyperactive nerves.
Pops are Very good. I just run out of time to listen to them.
If you're into Classical, Mozart should be in your list.

I was watching the All Stars and, man, Cristina Aguilera gave the best performance of her life.
"Cristina", "Sorry mamita, I didn't have you in my list".

Carlos.
