basically a review:
Ok first off the Hcigar vt250s may not be the smallest dual 18650 mod, but it's quite small and light. (Not the be confused with the vt250 which I think is even larger and heavier but just noting there's various versions). The Hcigar vt250s is most likely on the smaller side of dual 18650 mods though, like smallest %10 percentile maybe.
I'm basically only pointing out how small the vt250s is in comparison to 26650 mods. You have no idea how long I spent trying to find a 26650 small pocket mod to accommodate the vt250s I have on the way. I wanted something smaller than a dual 18650 for certain occasions. I didn't want to turn this into a project but it just turned out to be one. I sometimes get like this when I shop online..
Turns out the VT250s is actually about the same size if not smaller than most 26650 mods! (which is hard to believe).
ALSO! :
26650 MOD = 4200mAh with an ijoy 26650 battery which is the go-to 26650 batt.
Dual 18650 3000mAh Samsung 30Q, or Sony vtc6, or Lg HG2 = 6000mAh (and 167W vs 75 on a DNA 26650 MOD).
AND: an iJoy 26650 is 91 grams according to Fasttech, cross referenced by vapeshop com says 3.3oz which is 93.5g. DUAL sony vtc6 18560s weighs total 93.2g (46.6g ea, cross referenced various times all say around 45g ea), so it doesn't even add weight by having 6000 mAh vs 4200 mAh!
AND: the vt250s in dual mode is basically a triangular prism VS 26650 mods are basically an oval prism or rectangular prism which means the overall dimensions of the 26650 mods are all space 'taken up' but the triangle shape of the vt250s allows for more compact pocket space (can butt up against a bottle of juice closer or keys or what have you).
It's really hard to beat the vt250s for a dual 18650 or especially if you're looking for a 26650 I would get the vt250s instead (or another dual 18650 perhaps).
Most of the 26650s are like 18 months - 2 years old anyway which is weird they basically stopped pumping them out. Most are out of stock or very hard to find, some are still on ebay new or sorta sketchy Chinese sites but with paypal so you should be safe as a buyer regardless but I see no reason to get a 26650. There is also talk of 18650s turning out more Amps per something or more something per something vs 26650s making 26650s sound sort of deceiving but I didn't get into that.
Here are some size specs. Some may be off a bit for only having one source, especially the weights because I only found one source for weight for some MODs which may be fasttechs' weights or 'gearbeast' which is like a sorta shady Chinese site that seems to like to just put ".190kg net weight" for most 26650 MODs.
Most are confirmed dimensions and weight though, especially the vt250s dimensions (not weight) which were taken from the manual (and other sources confirmed) and most of the DNA75 26650s are confirmed specs.
The vt250s with 6000 mAhs dual 18650s is barely larger (or heavier) if at all than most 26650 4200 mAh mods. Wish I knew this before searching for a 26650 'small' mod. Will still be getting a single mini 18650 DNA for my small mod though.
All sizes in mm:
vt250s dual 18650: 86 x 40 x 34mm 190g
(fasttech only source of 190g which likely means in triple mode so would be lighter as dual, maybe 170g).
I mostly focused on DNA chip 26650s because I charge via usb even if it's a single cell mod I would still rather do that with a DNA, and I just trust the DNA more if passthrough vaping while it's charging, trust it more if juice drips down into it, trust it more not to brick and freeze up for whatever reason, trust it more in a hot car, etc. DNA well worth the extra $40 or whatever, plus has a much better resale value if you decide to sell later.
Rebel 26650: DNA75: 81 x 43 x 26
Probably the smallest and lightest 26650. But it's like $165 shipped from UK. No info on weight but it's probably very light being that it's 3d printed plastic, maybe 120g?
Boxer 26650 DNA75: 82x 53 x 30
Another light 3D mod but is barely smaller than the vt250s. And is like $175 and has that stupid slip on battery cover which is simply asinine.
athena pride DNA75: wood $200 90 x 48 x 35 225g Fasttech's weight
think vape DNA75: 88 x 43 x 31 150g
vapeCige SD DNA75 SD75: 86 x 42 x 30 150g
Hotcig DX75 DNA: 87 x 42 x 30 129g
Sbody VapeDroid C1D2 DNA: basically same as hotcig DX75 but slightly wider based on video comparison.
HCigar VT75 DNA75: 31 x 90 x 51 190g
Lost vape skar DNA75: 90 X 45 X 30 193 or 208g unconfirmed
NON DNA 26650 mods:
Vaporesso nebula 32 x 87 x41 164g
wismec presa 93 x 46 x 30 178g
Sigelei 90W Plus 89 x 44 x 29 170g
vapor flask stout 86 x 47 x 30 , 170-190g both weights claimed
Eleaf iStick Pico Mega 54 X 32 X 74 140g (just a side note: knowing how tanks like to leak sometimes I think the battery design of this is prone to flooding the battery compartment because the battery cap is male threaded and doesn't look like it has an o-ring and juice could basically fill up the mod. If the cap were female threaded and the battery slot protruded up with a lip, or had an o-ring this would be avoided).
Wismec Centurion 53 x 33 x 97 150g
aspire nx100 78 x 45 x 30 , 150g or 120g both weights claimed
Asvape Strider 75w 91 x 50 x 34 181 g
ijoy solo plus 87 x 48 x 29 170g
Athena 93 x 45 x 30 166g
Wotofo Chieftain 93 x 43 x 30 152g
There are a bunch of DNA75 26650 mods I left out because they had leather or snake skin etc and I don't but that material but they are mostly quite larger and often heavier than the DNA 26650s I already listed.
So in simple, just don't even buy a 26650 mod unless maybe the rebel which is barely smaller than the vt250s. Or just look into other dual 18650 mods, doesn't have to be the vt250s. This whole thing doesn't take into account 'fixed' battery pack MODS of course which may be lighter because those are often thrown-away in less than a year when the battery fully dies.
For reference look how small of a difference 2-5mm is by the picture. I know that small difference kind of negates why I would even bother researching all this but I ended up doing it anyway, and I know how much others are interested in mods being as small as possible too, I kept thinking something smaller/lighter would pop up but it didn't.
As for weight sure some 26650s are lighter especially the non-DNA mods but they are also non-DNA though. If the vt250s is net 175g in dual mode instead of 190g triple mode, that's 25g more than the light 150g 26650 mods which is the weight of about 4 quarters (5.670g per quarter) = 25 divided by 5.7 = 4.39 quarters, but in actuality accounting for crud build up on change is probably the weight of about 3.5 quarters extra.
If I had a gram scale I would measure the vt250s in dual mode with no batteries, but it might not even be a far stretch to say the vt250s is even lighter than 175g in dual mode because the cover to hold the 3rd battery (190g total)is not only bigger but also has a bunch of extra 'stuff' in it (battery cage-like compartment and contacts) whereas the dual cover is basically just plain metal with a tiny spring loaded tab.
