So OK I like RIP he is entertaining to watch. Quite important if you are entertaining people. But he did that review with the TurboRDA which was just stupid. Now he is posting a build for the Petri where no air will enter the coil whatsoever, but making sure he lines it up with the air holes ha ha. Followed up by the iSmog which he is excited about, despite it being targeted at people that can't go between vapes without some porn and otherwise being basically pointless.

I could go on, but I am not entertaining :D So I leave with this.

It's a character. There's a guy that does another character called Outlaw (also on YT) for dipping tobacco. Now, I'm not saying Rip lifted the energy and mannerisms from Outlaw, two different fruits in the same bowl if you ask me. But it does well to show that these people know their audience - they know what to say, how to say it, what tone to have, what accent to emphasize and they know how to structure a video, down to pretty tight editing.

Full Retard? Nah. It's miles away from 'Retard.' It's borderline parody that has become an income source that is being refined with each video.

It's a brand, it's a character. His up-close looks are shot nicely and cleanly. I take the info I'm looking for from his videos and apply my own judgements on the pieces he's reviewing. Some times he's right on the money, like with the Avocado. I got mine a few days after his review video aired, already pre-ordered it before he reviewed it - that sort of thing. Damned if that still isn't my most-used (yep, even more than my Griffins) piece right there. Sometimes it feels like he's promoting something because of the cheque that came in the mail with it (like the Playboy branded sub-ohm tank, first thing that comes to mind)

You know what though, I'd much quicker watch Rip's goofy ass bubblin' around and getting all bug-eyed excited over something than ... you know what, I'll remove that name - I don't mean to turn this into a he's better than him kind of thing, but there are two or three reviewers that are trying to do what Rip does and failing each time. Almost funny, but mostly cringe inducing.

So, no, I'm not trying to defend him, he's not my super favorite reviewer of all time. But to miss the point of what he's doing by taking his presentation literally. That's kind of... silly. Silly as tits.

One of RIP's first video reviews would be worth a post here. burley is right, of course, Rip has worked up the character, then used early MTV quick-cut (short attention span theater) style filming. His first couple of YT reviews are sleep-inducing, :D

He's not bad, he has character and some of the best damn close ups/camera eq, all in all I would rather watch him than a lot of the vaping videos.

But really I have slowed down on watching vids as I become more experienced with vaping.

Watching his old videos is painful if you have seen more of his new stuff:) But you know what he has his own juice line and probably pretty well off with what he does so you have to give the dude credit whether he's a tool or not....

But fuck man just a nice trim on that damn beard would do wonders!!!!

I dont think he has been the same since the subtank rebuild video....since then he developed schizophrenia and ADHD...and mushrooms and ecstasy seemed to have bored out holes in his brain...
Almost could cause epilepsy with how many cuts and edits with his newer videos and I really do not find his new personality humorous or entertaining.

RIP is... ...eh. I don't really have much of an opinion about him, all that drama, his persona, or any of that shit. Sometimes I kind of tilt my head at the shit he says about certain products, but I expect to do that with any reviewer. Sometimes they say hokey things. But that's where you, the viewer, need to make a judgement call on how seriously you want to take them with regards to that particular device.

He makes attention grabbing videos about vape stuff and serves as a gateway to a different way of vaping for new vapers. He gets people excited about getting into hobby-level vaping. I think that's great. If someone watches his review on something, buys it, uses the build section to do their first build ever on it, and crosses over to the other side of vaping because of it, that's good thing! Say what you want about the other stuff, but I do think that his presence does have a positive influence on a lot of budding vapers out there.

And you know, I gotta think those viewers eventually get to a higher point and start seeing less value in his videos, but that's fine, too. They've served their purpose as primers.

My biggest gripe with him has to do with his build tutorials. I just think he's a sloppy builder and he shows people some weird, inferior, and less practical methods for doing certain things. It's like every time he does a tutorial for a build, he's only done it a few times himself... ...or at least that's how it looks to me. He just does the kinds of things that anyone doing those builds regularly would eventually learn to do differently. So many times, I've been watching him do a build and had to ask myself "Why the hell would you want to do it that way?"

Remember him way back to the AC9 days. The "show" he puts on is goofy I agree.
I watch for the camera work and some entertainment.
Don't buy just cause he says he likes something.
Lose the beard though.

RIP has previously stated he only reviews stuff he likes or that looks innovative. So as thats the case and he likes anything innovative...he is not going to dislike much that he puts a review up for. That is his system - no problem. His explanation of the Turbo RDA though he said it was truly innovative....no it wasn't it was a stupid gimmick little rotor blade stuffed in an rda.

iSmog - he is excited, but really wtf is that all about. You want a touch screen on your mod? Can anyone see the potential of that getting covered in juice lol. Its a gimmick, its gonna drain the battery for no reason and we all want less battery life don't we?

The one before that was that Petri Coil, stick a coil in an airflow dead spot....just why would you do that? He did say at the end of the build it works better with one hole blocked off, even so its still in a dead spot - its just slightly less dead with one hole blocked so you will get some air through the coil that way. The main airflow is going to be pretty much directly between where the ingress and egress points for the air are so in most RDA setups that is like /\ with some turbulence created in the chamber. The reason nobody else posted a vid of that build is not because they didn't think of putting a coil in that gap between the posts....it's because when they thought of it they thought....no wait...that is just stupid. :D

I figured out a while back that if I'm going to watch a reviewer, I'll watch one that vapes the way I do, so that I can see an opinion that would probably be similar to mine.
That's not rip. A lot of the tngs he likes I wouldn't and vice verse. Busardo would be the exception, because I like seeing the numbers; and, I just fast forward to the oscope.

I wouldn't say that specifically, but I'm a nice guy like that. I'd say that anyone that idolizes he and his reviews, blindly jumping at anything he puts in front of the camera without thinking for themselves - or if it's even a facet of the hobby they'd like to invest in - could be lumped into that category. Fanboyism in anything is a quick way to paint yourself into a corner and be stuck with a sucky position.

I agree. I've never done YT review, but I understand that it is not as easy as it looks, and that making one that is entertaining, and original must be a challenge.

I have watched and learned stuff from Rip's vids in the past, but as far as ascribing Rip any degree of integrity, not so much.

P. Busardo has a great deal of tech info in his reviews, and I will watch his reviews for that reason, but I don't like his personality.

To me, a good reviewer has integrity, knowlege, a good ability to communicate and is entertaining. In that order.

Our Scottish Resident Reviewer, Vaping with Vic, carries a lot more weight with me, than Rip ever has. The Russian guy, the Borat/Busardo dude as I call him is really good as well.

I am thinking that Tripers is just a ad company construct . It is not a real person at all . It is just made to get youtube views and it works .
the reason i think he is just a construct is that he is never seen in person , and he does not support any advocates . these are typical
