Hi, I would consider myself an intermediate builder and have build most of the standard exotic coils and am decent at it. My only issue is is that when fusing or claptoning I am unable to hold the spool. I’ve been cutting off a long piece of high gauge wire and holding it with my fingers, but this is an added step and wastes a lot of wire. I just cannot figure out how to hold the spool in my hand while allowing it to spin freely. Any pictures or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Welcome to the Vu. What I do and it's not perfect but works for me is poke the center hole out of the closed side of the spool. Then just hold lightly. Others out the spool in a Ziploc bag with it open just a bit for the wire to come out. I suggest spool tamers for your spools also. There's a video on YouTube to do with just drill hand
