How much malic acid is too much?

As time passes, I use more and more malic acid in my recipes. Sour apple, sour peach, sour cherry, sour banana... hell, even sour menthol: the sourer, the better. I love it.

Currently I use a concentration of 10 to 12.5% (20 to 25 drops per 10 ml). Is that too much? I'm under the impression that malic acid is more or less innocuous, but perhaps not. I don't feel any ill effect vaping massive amounts of the stuff, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's good for the lungs.
